I still remember the general audience response to this matchup being announced was everyone being hyped for Wolverine and wondering who was this edgy cyborg. Of course a lot more people now know about Raiden mainly due to Revengeance’s memes, but everyone was genuinely on Wolvie’s side for the debate. So it must’ve come as a shock to everyone when he finally ended up meeting his match. This fight is an absolute trip. Despite being one of the show’s earlier 3D fights, the animation still looks great for its time and the action is a blast to watch, with both fighters tearing each other apart and leaving a mark almost every time. The voice acting is also on point, with Tim Paige giving a solid performance as Raiden and Xander Mobus sounding almost identical to Cal Dodd from the 90s Cartoon. Not to mention this fight contains one of the most brutal and suspenseful deaths of the entire show. Overall, while not on every level, this fight still holds up today and is one of the definitive standouts from Season 2.
They literally stated that the show is right now in limbo. They're trying to figure things out now that Rooster Teeth is gone! Didn't you get the news.

This battle was a pretty good one for its age. Though it was a Season 2 episode, it is of relatively high quality, something that is now characteristic of later seasons of Death Battle. The fight scene was in really well animated 3D, and demonstrated both combatants' abilities and fighting styles real good. Not to mention that this matchup was among the closest ones in the show.
The only nitpick about the outcome is about how Raiden's high-frequency blade can cut through Wolverine's adamantium skeleton. While adamantium is vulnerable to high-frequency vibrations that weaken molecular bonds, which would initially make logical sense, Raiden's HF blade would need a frequency at least as much as Antarctic Vibranium to cut adamantium, and they didn't tell what the frequencies are for both of them.
Exactly I agree with the outcome. This death battle video was meant to explain argument why Raiden would cut through Wolverine. And yes they actually got it right with the stats. This is the closest match up ever.
The bring up the point that in the marvel universe, a character has a sword similar to raidens that can vibrate to the point that it can cut through adamantium, the same way that raidens sword vibrates
@@Finazel Silver Samurai’s sword is almost the same as Raiden’s and he can’t cut Wolverine’s adamantium, btw it’s been stated that there are several types of adamantium, Misty Knight can only bend adamantium not destroy it and that one wasn’t the same type of adamantium that Wolverine’s Skeleton has, so no Raiden would not be able to cut Wolverine’s adamantium
If I remember it was an unknown hero who had an arm that could vibrate and when fighting someone else with adamantium she cut thru their weapon with ease and by the fact that raidens sword cuts at the subatomic level when vibrating it's safe to say even that samurai mech from that one wolverine movie would be no match for Raiden, just siayan@@ChillDeathgod

My ONLY gripe here is that I don't think it's any more possible to dice up Logan's skull than it is the rest of his skeleton. Other than that, considering I know nothing about Raiden, I'm good with this ending. It's canon AFAIK that the only guaranteed way to kill Logan is to take his head off, so...
I mean, Adamantium being the toughest metal around implies its superior durability to carbon nanotube metals, which are common in Rising: Revengeance. A singular CNT, roughly half a nanometer in length, needs around 60,000 joules to destroy. Judging by the thickness of the average adult male's cranium is approximately 6.75 millimeters, which equates to 6.75 million nanometers, doubling the number (as 1 CNT = 0.5 nanometers) gives us 13.5 million CNTs to break through. So could Raiden cut through that? Let's see. Raiden was capable of holding back approximately 300,000 tons with one hand in Metal Gear Solid 4. This is different from his feats in Rising: Revengeance, where he suplexed EXCELSUS and threw RAY; the former weighing around 15,000 and the latter weighing around 1,000 tons respectively. These three feats are rather inconsistent, though Raiden tanking the destruction of EXCELSUS was approximately 180 kilotons of TNT. Raiden needs to attack with at least 322,014 tons of TNT to slice through carbon nanotube armor in roughly equal thickness to a human male cranium. However, while this may seem impossible for Raiden, it's definitely not, at all. Raiden was at best winded and shocked by Armstrong's ruthless assaults and the destruction of EXCELSUS rather than severely injured. Within moments, he was back on his feet, ready to dance. This gives me the impression that Raiden is far more durable, and given his parity with Armstrong, far stronger than needed to keep pace with Logan. While I'm uncertain if Raiden can cut through Adamantium or not, I am positive he will never need to actually slice through it. We know the blades in Rising electrically sever bonds between atoms and molecules, thus negating durability. Obviously though, the higher the strength-to-density ratio of a given material, the harder it will be for HF blades to force through, given Raiden's struggle with Armstrong and his defeat at the hands of Excalibur in his respective DEATH BATTLE. However, we also know Ripper Mode boosts Raiden's speed and strength massively, to the point where Raiden can statue rain and cut through large buildings respectively. So in short: While his base strength alone is in question, his Ripper Mode massively boosting his power overall, on top of the Murasama, will almost certainly cut through Adamantium with enough force. Hope this helps!
To explain this: Raiden uses a high frequency blade which weakens the molecular bonds of a metal. the question posed is whether this would work with adamantium and surprisingly yes because of a obscure character with a augmented arm that vibrates at a high frequency just like Raiden's sword and they show it working on adamantium all Raiden needed to do was strike enough times with a decent amount of strength to do so
Bruh Wolverine has had every bone ripped out of his body and survived I’m sure he’d be fine, especially since a swing from mjolnir has gotta be stronger than anything raiden’s got
One thing I really like about this fight that isn’t really talked about is that despite Raiden’s numerous advantages over Wolverine(including strength, speed and Raiden’s blade being able to cut through adamantium), it wasn’t until both were pushed to their limits that Raiden was actually able to kill him. Not only shows how strong Raiden is, but also how tough Wolverine’s skeleton is.
@@donovanhadley2209 Destroying his head would have ended the fight, but it wouldn't kill Wolverine. As long as at least a single drop of blood remains he will regenerate from it. I can see why Raiden wins the fight here, but if this was an all out war he wouldn't ever really win.
Pretty sure the only X-Men to win their DB are Storm & Rogue. But Storm was just given a free win. And Rogue's episode not only sucks ass, but the verdict is wrong as well.
I remember this years ago. Maybe if Raiden didn't have this Jack the Ripper power, he wouldn't have won. Don't get me wrong, I like Metal Gear, including Raiden.
Jack the Ripper was neat, but it’s Raiden’s high frequency blade that was the key to winning. That could rather easily cut through Wolverines skeleton.

The high frequency blade that Raiden uses disrupts atoms via quantum decoherences on the planck scale. In layman's terms, the Adamantium that Wolverine's skeleton is made of is being vibrated and torn apart on a level so minuscule that it's durability is negated
Just looked it up, that was apparently due to a magical crystal, rather than something Wolverine can do normally. Though I do question if decapitation is enough all the same.
The most debatable one ever sorry but I still don’t see the Murasama being able to cut through Adamantium as it’s not Antarctic Vibranium 3:33 it ended for me right here Wolverine wins
The argument is that it functions similar to Antarctic Vibranium, due to the HF Blade being able to vibrate at a high enough frequency to cut apart something on a quantum scale to break apart molecular bonds.

This was one of my favorite animated fights 😎
Compared to Raiden's MGS2 reception, this video is a testament to how far he's come in terms of badassery.
Yeah people were shocked. In fact, Death Battle knew that people would be shocked, that's why the music stopped when it happened
so did they quit or something, is just a whole bunch of older fights
They literally stated that the show is right now in limbo. They're trying to figure things out now that Rooster Teeth is gone! Didn't you get the news.

That scene where Raiden's eye glows and the music changes still sends shivers down my spine. One of my favorite seens in a DB fight ever.
I know it's a Death Battle, but even so, it would make more sense for Raiden to see a dude who effortlessly cut down a Gekko as a potential ally. "The enemy of my enemy is my friend", as they say.
That's a Gekko, not a Metal Gear.
@@VeraVemaVena Sorry. I never played the Metal Gear games. My knowledge of the Metal Gear series doesn't really go much further than Solid Snake's and Raiden's Death Battle analyses. I assumed that walker mech was some type of lesser Metal Gear.
@@anightmareonpokestreet5882 it's no problem. To give you a proper explanation, a Metal Gear is a mobile nuclear missile launcher that can defend itself from enemy attacks. The only exception to this is Metal Gear Excelsus, which can't deploy nukes but earns the title due to it's sheer destructive capability, capable of singlehandedly demolishing cities and armies, as well as counter advanced Cyborgs.
Thing is, Raiden's game is about killing people like that, they only way to get him on his good side is diplomacy and that doesn't exist here.

Easily on of the best DB animations. Well-choreographed and intense the whole way through.
I personally believe wolverine wins mid-high diff because of wolverines healing factor, speed, skill, experience

Wait, isn't Logan's skull also covered in Adamantium? How was he able to slice it in pieces? (not talking about the joints!)
The bring up the point that in the marvel universe, a character has a sword similar to raidens that can vibrate to the point that it can cut through adamantium, the same way that raidens sword vibrates
@@Finazel
Silver Samurai’s sword is almost the same as Raiden’s and he can’t cut Wolverine’s adamantium, btw it’s been stated that there are several types of adamantium, Misty Knight can only bend adamantium not destroy it and that one wasn’t the same type of adamantium that Wolverine’s Skeleton has, so no Raiden would not be able to cut Wolverine’s adamantium

I missed a lot of Death battle episodes over the years so this will be fun seeing some cool re-uploads.
I don't think wolverine is nearly capable of fighting as fast as this animation puts him at.
This still holds up incredibly well, always loved this animation. Great dialogue too, especially with Wolverine giving Raiden robotic nicknames.
Hold on… are they fighting on the streets of Fortuna? (DMC 4)
One of the best fights in Death Battle history.
To explain this: Raiden uses a high frequency blade which weakens the molecular bonds of a metal. the question posed is whether this would work with adamantium and surprisingly yes because of a obscure character with a augmented arm that vibrates at a high frequency just like Raiden's sword and they show it working on adamantium all Raiden needed to do was strike enough times with a decent amount of strength to do so
he just swung harder
@@Snowie6606 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Bruh Wolverine has had every bone ripped out of his body and survived I’m sure he’d be fine, especially since a swing from mjolnir has gotta be stronger than anything raiden’s got
One thing I really like about this fight that isn’t really talked about is that despite Raiden’s numerous advantages over Wolverine(including strength, speed and Raiden’s blade being able to cut through adamantium), it wasn’t until both were pushed to their limits that Raiden was actually able to kill him.
Not only shows how strong Raiden is, but also how tough Wolverine’s skeleton is.

The most debatable one ever sorry but I still don’t see the Murasama being able to cut through Adamantium as it’s not Antarctic Vibranium 3:33 it ended for me right here Wolverine wins
