Dillon's has definitely helped me improve my art work and my set up and supplies. I went from only knowing how to to just use a paint brush to now having my own air compressor and air brush and Dillon's is really the mai reason why I started Customizing
Bro I just want to say you inspired me to start customizing shoes you break down everything you need to start to finish I appreciate everything you do bro‼️💯
If you’re painting one color after another onto new areas you can do them right away. If you’re painting the same color you need to let dry around 15 mins
Dillion thank you so much I recently just got my airbrush in the mail yesterday and u helped me out a lot with this vid u thought me everything Ik thx so much
Great, thank you . I actually just found one of your videos on this topic and purchased Matte 4 coat . I’m excited to try it on my airbrush AirForce One project. I hope it will work with Createx Airbrush paint .
Starting with a white sneaker, if I did a gradient , then wanted to do white designs on top, would recommend masking those designs, where it would be white, then airbrush the different colors…once dry, peel off design mask….OR, like you did in the video, airbrush the gradient, then stencil designs with white paint? Thanks for any advice
Hey, I'm looking into learning how to airbrush and found your videos very helpful! I just have 1 question tho (just to be sure). You mentioned in this video that you apply 3 coats for every main color of this gradient design color. I was wondering whether you let each coat dry before applying the next one or do you just go around the shoe and apply 3 coats in one go and then go on to the next color and repeat that process for each color?
i'm going to start customizing kicks (mostly cleats) soon - i appreciate u sharing ur tips. i've been watching a lot lately and i'll be using ur vids a lot - thanks again
I know you do like working on foamposites aha. But any reason something like this wouldnt work on them? With the sanding , acetone and adhesion spray. Maybe like 2 hard or something? What's your suggestion
Thank so much Dillon for being an inspiration to so many of us. I love watching your videos and using all your techniques and tricks you show us (TOOTHPICK GANG)....
Dude thank you so much for all the tips and help for real keep em coming tutorials on diff customs start to finish plz sir!!! Love the product tips aswell def helps me make confident purchaces
I'm trying to paint a gradient on my shoes with paint brushes. Is that possible as I don't own an airbrush? Any tips, advice or previous videos about doing a regular hand painted gradient style?
Hey Dillon, was wondering how you painted on the sole of the sneaker and the process to make sure that stays on. Because i've herd in the customizing world that, that is a big no.
Oh no you never wanna paint soles, being that this is just a tiny little drip on the midsole portion in an area that doesn't contain any flex im not worried.
@@DeJesusCustomFootwear thanks for the speedy reply. So you can't paint that bottom part at all? Oh I love all your videos and you have been a big inspiration to customizing shoes.
Hey whats up Dylan love the channel and have inspired me to start customizing shoes myself, quick question can you put any type of Angelus Finisher either it being Matte or Gloss through an Air Brush and spray it on according to the specific fabric it is meant for?
Could you do a video about what Psi to set for your airbrush so it doesn’t come out wet but instead dry . If you get what I’m saying I sometimes have trouble with that . But this video was awesome love it
I like to take the colors I’ve used in the gradient and then mix in white or grey… sometimes I’ll do grey by itself and in this case I also did some gold
I know that you changed the laces so it fit in more but I feel like if I bought that I would have to buy air force 1 laces and reattach them because it looks better
How many coats with an airbrush should I use if im doing just one color on the toe box, some paint has cracked and the original white color can be seen.
I have a question not related to airbrushing--for canvas shoes like vans, would fabric paint work (as opposed to fabric medium with leather paint)? I haven't seen anyone use fabric paint on vans yet
Yes sir! Any household cleaner (no ammonia) mixed with water..... probably about 85% water and 15% cleaner.. I use fabulouso... and then a couple drops of dish soap 🤙🏽
Dude out of all the people ive watched i want to learn from you. Excellent teaching
Thank you man really appreciate that!

Right on time while I'm doing the final prep before doing a pink - blue gradient :)
2:52 hey dejesus how long do you spend to dry in between each coat, or do you not do that? Do you only do dry time when you change color?
If you’re painting one color after another onto new areas you can do them right away. If you’re painting the same color you need to let dry around 15 mins
Dillon is second to none with technique and fan engagements!
Can you paint shoes with Apple barrel paint?
No unfortunately it’ll crack really easily

Yo dillion thanks for the tip btw can i use a mini pipe cleaner to clean my air brush
Yes deifnitly
DeJesus Custom Footwear thanks
Where did you get the Nike Swosh Drip stinzle
We sell them on our Etsy bud! Link in description
Love your videos so detailed easy to follow along and very educational. Tho do you add duller for every paint layer or just the last coat?
Thank you! Just use liquid kicks matte finish at the end and then no need for duller
Love this . Do you use some kind of finish coat on airbrush designs?
I do! I use the angelus matte 4 coat or liquid licks matte top coat
Great, thank you . I actually just found one of your videos on this topic and purchased Matte 4 coat . I’m excited to try it on my airbrush AirForce One project. I hope it will work with Createx Airbrush paint .

Yup just any regular latex gloves will work perfect

No dice! Not gunna hold up unfortuantely
Flawless! I definitely learn alot every time. Ty so much for explaining everything.
Whats up DeJesus, what is the airbrushing station with the spinning base calledd?
what would you recommend doing to airbrush vans or puma shoes that have the same look and feel as vans?
Yeah you can still airbrush on canvas!

Hey man I’m kind of new at that thing, where do you find those laces ?
did you just use acetone on the midsole? or nothing?
I'm trying to paint a gradient on my shoes with paint brushes. Is that possible as I don't own an airbrush? Any tips, advice or previous videos about doing a regular hand painted gradient style?
What’s the material used to make reusable stencils
Mylar!
DeJesus Custom Footwear thanks
Where can I get those laces from , the custom looks so dope
So when you use 2 soft you don't want to use 2 thin also?
Correct there’s no need as the 2soft will also thin your paint enough to run through an airbrush
Love it!!!
Thank you for the updated tutorial, really helped me work on a pair of shoes today!!!
Hey Dillon, was wondering how you painted on the sole of the sneaker and the process to make sure that stays on. Because i've herd in the customizing world that, that is a big no.
Oh no you never wanna paint soles, being that this is just a tiny little drip on the midsole portion in an area that doesn't contain any flex im not worried.
when i reach uni imma start to customize shoes cuz now I'm kinda low on budget and by then I won't have any problem with trying customization.
🤙🏽🤙🏽
Why not start now? Make your low budget less ‘low’
@@TheSnkrPimp i still need to offically start highschool tho cuz im about to go to grade 9 and its gonna be hard doing work and trying this.
Can you paint the bottom side of the shoe with 2 hard. I got it. I'm trying to do the whole shoe like this top to bottom.
No it’ll crack unfortuantely
@@DeJesusCustomFootwear thanks for the speedy reply. So you can't paint that bottom part at all? Oh I love all your videos and you have been a big inspiration to customizing shoes.
I never recommend to do so if durability is your priority
Hi Dejesus!
Do you put all 3 coats of the main colours first (with their respective dry time) and then blend over with the middle bar after?
That is correct!
what program do you use to paint sneakers?
Hey whats up Dylan love the channel and have inspired me to start customizing shoes myself, quick question can you put any type of Angelus Finisher either it being Matte or Gloss through an Air Brush and spray it on according to the specific fabric it is meant for?
Yes you can!
Nice video! How did you made the fine line around de drip?
Toothpick!
Have you tested walk in them
Yup they’re wearable
How about gradient while using brush?
Your the best...thanks!
Omg these shoes are amazing
Thank you!
Is it possible to paint gradient with paintbrush?
Hey whats up starting up New learning from you :) ♡ Thank you for your videos
How can you improve a fade from opposite colors without turning it brown? (Purple to yellow, red to blue, etc.)
That’s when your middle bar area should painted a lot wider or larger giving you more room to fade the colors into each other
Nicely explained video. Very helpful
🤙🏽🤙🏽
Have you ever tried using liquid rubber to customize shoes?
No I’m pretty skeptical of the durability.
Where u get the leaves shapes from
www.etsy.com/listing/599899904/floral-slide-stencils?ref=shop_home_active_31&frs=1&crt=1

Where you get the shoe laces love?!

Sounds like you need an in-line moisture trap for your setup! Can snag one on amazon but most typically we work around 30psi
DeJesus Custom Footwear awesome dude thanks so much for responding back fast I appreciate that
How do you make professional stencils? I have a vinyl cutter at home but I cant seem to make great stencils that will get the job done.
As far as the image quality is low or what issues are you running into?
@@DeJesusCustomFootwear Ya I think its the image quality. Is there like a particular place u make urs in. Ur Bape Camo ones were amazing🤩
What’s a good place to buy the air force’s wholesale?
Haha when you find out let me know.
Hey Dillon, could you make more videos about fabric customs?
What color did you use to spray on the stencils ?
I like to take the colors I’ve used in the gradient and then mix in white or grey… sometimes I’ll do grey by itself and in this case I also did some gold
@@DeJesusCustomFootwear ahhh that’s nice brother
These turned out amazing! For the middle bar would you still apply 3 coats ?
Nope just one coat of that!
@@DeJesusCustomFootwear thank you so much !

Yes

Nothing wrong with that, all custom everything around here!
@@DeJesusCustomFootwear omgosh you replied that quickly!
I needed this video
How many coats with an airbrush should I use if im doing just one color on the toe box, some paint has cracked and the original white color can be seen.
Usually that means the prep work is the issue , but I would say for most colors you can expect to do around 4-5 coays
@@DeJesusCustomFootwear thank you man, really appreciate it💯
do I NEED a hear gun or do i have an alternate option
Blow dryer can work
@@DeJesusCustomFootwear thanks!
Hey dejesus where did you get the strainer?
Dollar tree
@@DeJesusCustomFootwear lol awesome
So I have A Question. I know that this is not part of the video but about the toothpick thing will the plastic toothpicks work
They crack easier and bend easier typically so little less than ideal
@@DeJesusCustomFootwear Ok thanks
I have a question not related to airbrushing--for canvas shoes like vans, would fabric paint work (as opposed to fabric medium with leather paint)? I haven't seen anyone use fabric paint on vans yet
No I still wouldn’t recommend it, the paint won’t give you any flexibility
ok cool, thanks! is there something about the shoe that makes it stiffer since the paint is meant to be flexible on other fabrics?
kayla I just don’t think the paint is actually that flexible. At least the fabric paints I’ve used.
@@DeJesusCustomFootwear great, thank you so much!
Dillon The Duller King we need advice on doing gradient with brushes. Thanks in advance.
Battle Rap Opinions it’s very hard to do gradients with a paint brush
@@wolfcustomshoes2790 yeah I'm aware. I have some positive experience with it but not completely free of brush strokes.
Definitly soemthing we plan to cover in the future!
Is there anyway to get the gradient effect with a paint brush?
Yep, but airbrushes tend to have a smoother blend though
It’s 10x harder but definitly something we have planned for a future video
Having a hard time finding cleaner. Any recommendations or tips for an at home substitute?
Yes sir! Any household cleaner (no ammonia) mixed with water..... probably about 85% water and 15% cleaner.. I use fabulouso... and then a couple drops of dish soap 🤙🏽
DeJesus Custom Footwear Thank you! Much appreciated
Can you do a video on the best airbrushes you’ve used ?
Would love to know what he recommends.
One question, can they get wet? Is that specialpaint? Or do you apply a coat against water?
Yup they’re waterproof!
Hey man is there any difference between leather acrylic paint and acrylic paint
Big time, regular acrylics are way more thick and non flexible
Can u still wear white socks after u have painted the inside with blue? I never owned custom shoes.
Yup as long as they’ve been heat set properly
Which colours did you use?
