Hey, I'm looking into learning how to airbrush and found your videos very helpful! I just have 1 question tho (just to be sure). You mentioned in this video that you apply 3 coats for every main color of this gradient design color. I was wondering whether you let each coat dry before applying the next one or do you just go around the shoe and apply 3 coats in one go and then go on to the next color and repeat that process for each color?
Yes you want to give around 15 mins of dry time between coats!

I do! I use the angelus matte 4 coat or liquid licks matte top coat

Hey whats up Dylan love the channel and have inspired me to start customizing shoes myself, quick question can you put any type of Angelus Finisher either it being Matte or Gloss through an Air Brush and spray it on according to the specific fabric it is meant for?
Yes you can!
2:52 hey dejesus how long do you spend to dry in between each coat, or do you not do that? Do you only do dry time when you change color?
If you’re painting one color after another onto new areas you can do them right away. If you’re painting the same color you need to let dry around 15 mins

Starting with a white sneaker, if I did a gradient , then wanted to do white designs on top, would recommend masking those designs, where it would be white, then airbrush the different colors…once dry, peel off design mask….OR, like you did in the video, airbrush the gradient, then stencil designs with white paint? Thanks for any advice
I know you do like working on foamposites aha. But any reason something like this wouldnt work on them? With the sanding , acetone and adhesion spray. Maybe like 2 hard or something? What's your suggestion

Could you do a video about what Psi to set for your airbrush so it doesn’t come out wet but instead dry . If you get what I’m saying I sometimes have trouble with that . But this video was awesome love it
Sounds like you need an in-line moisture trap for your setup! Can snag one on amazon but most typically we work around 30psi

Hey Dillon, was wondering how you painted on the sole of the sneaker and the process to make sure that stays on. Because i've herd in the customizing world that, that is a big no.
Oh no you never wanna paint soles, being that this is just a tiny little drip on the midsole portion in an area that doesn't contain any flex im not worried.

No unfortunately it’ll crack really easily
What color did you use to spray on the stencils ?
I like to take the colors I’ve used in the gradient and then mix in white or grey… sometimes I’ll do grey by itself and in this case I also did some gold

So when you use 2 soft you don't want to use 2 thin also?
Correct there’s no need as the 2soft will also thin your paint enough to run through an airbrush
Having a hard time finding cleaner. Any recommendations or tips for an at home substitute?
Yes sir! Any household cleaner (no ammonia) mixed with water..... probably about 85% water and 15% cleaner.. I use fabulouso... and then a couple drops of dish soap 🤙🏽

How do you make professional stencils? I have a vinyl cutter at home but I cant seem to make great stencils that will get the job done.

I have a question not related to airbrushing--for canvas shoes like vans, would fabric paint work (as opposed to fabric medium with leather paint)? I haven't seen anyone use fabric paint on vans yet
No I still wouldn’t recommend it, the paint won’t give you any flexibility

kayla I just don’t think the paint is actually that flexible. At least the fabric paints I’ve used.

How many coats with an airbrush should I use if im doing just one color on the toe box, some paint has cracked and the original white color can be seen.
Usually that means the prep work is the issue , but I would say for most colors you can expect to do around 4-5 coays

How much does a beginner airbrush cost?
I use the badger patriot 105, usually under $100
How can you improve a fade from opposite colors without turning it brown? (Purple to yellow, red to blue, etc.)
That’s when your middle bar area should painted a lot wider or larger giving you more room to fade the colors into each other
