TUTORIAL - Automated Grapes and Olives - FS22 (PC Only)

- Grapes and Olives sound like a great addition to the game, but up until now it has required you to do all the work manually. But not any more! Using the power of Autodrive and Guidance Steering I'll show you how to run all the equipment needed to harvest grapes and olives without having to do anything yourself, other than set it up. Once you've done that once, every season just sit back, and let the workers take care of it for you.

VERY nicely done mate, this is really good!
cheers bud!
For some reason when I tried this I thought my Autodrive was lifting implements. Will try it again. Thanks Argsy!
Great video, when I get to vines I'll try the same. Course reminds me of a Zamboni, clearing an ice rink. A good way to remember the auto drive setup.
cheers bud, funny Kieran mentioned the same thing about the Zamboni when I was talking about racetrack mode in Spectacle Island
Thanks. This is really helpful and much appreciated.
dont know if you know yet, but courseplay has now added the feature for grape and olive to be able to use all the equipment.. however it will not unload the harvester but autodrive will take care of that.
Great job on the video, you will have people running to their Grape Harvesters this evening :)
Honestly can't wait now to set up and run a big vineyard, the thought of doing it all myself though did not sound much fun!
@@ArgsyGaming Can’t wait to see it!
Really helpful, Thanks. Re the bearing of the vine rows, it should be pretty easy for one of these clever modders to make a mod that tells us. The vines themselves are rows of objects like fences so they must have co-ordinates. Just need some code that picks two in the line and calculates the bearing. Guessing it would be very easy for someone who both knows where to look and how to write the script. Thanks again. Gonna see if I can make this work as simply as you showed it on Old Stream.
Thanks Brian, yeah I imagine their are some clever cookies out there who could help with that. The other option would be to run a tractor along a GPS course first and plow along an edge and then align the vines with that.
One extra step I've done at the start of this is instead of going against the edge of the field, I used a plough with GPS heading straight North/South. I then Ploughed 10m or so at the start, used guidance steering to drive to the end and ploughed another 10m or so. This way I can be absolutely sure it's perfect (tbh you probably dont even need to plough, the tyre tracks are likely good enough). I initially went against the edge of the field, but by the end (maybe because it was a modded map) It was just a tiny bit out.
Also, I found it easier when lining up the harvester to use offset to get it in exactly the right spot, and then set my A+Heading again when aligned better.
I just subscribed to you. I have always wanted to automatically have my drivers workers do my vineyard grapes. this tutorial will help a lot. Unfortunately my PC went out either cpu or motherboard. But it’s time for a new 12900k anyways! Gonna get a new one as soon as I save the cash up. But I am ecstatic that I found automated Grapes and olives!!! I’m not much of a gamer but there’s a first for everything. I just got ATS Forza V. Racing wheel side panel, TH8 shifter and 18 speed shifter. Can you hear the violins? 🌝. That’s life. Oh well I got something to look forward to. No Big!!! Btw this is my first time ever leaving a comment on UA-cam. Fantastic content keep up the good work. We all appreciate it.
Welcome to the channel, sorry for the late reply! Check out the latest versions of courseplay which has taken this to the next level!
How did they take it to the next level?
Didn't realize you could have implements running on Autodrive, don't know why, it seems obvious when you think about it. This may put grapes and olives back on my radar again.
Thanks Keith, not the intended purpose for AD, but certainly worked well. Makes grapes/olives worth looking at again though
Hey Argsy, at 10:03 there's an unintentional audio lead in that I think accidentally got added and covers your narration. Great work on this tutorial! So helpful.
Yeah, it startled me when it came on. Argsy is just keeping us on our toes.
Thanks, and sorry for the jump scare! I'll see if I can edit it out in YT
Just a test to see how many people watch that far through 😜
Professor Argsy is here to educate us in the ways of FS22!
Don't make me sound too intelligent Scott!
My pruner turns off when I start the course, what can I do?
This is awesome, but what does GPS have to do with auto drive .
I know my comment is a little late to be helpful. But what i do for putting down grapes. Is i plow the field first. Then i follow the lines in the plow texture.
Excellent video and tutorial Argsy ... I just wanted to ask you a question that I asked myself .. when the grape harvester has a full tank you have to manually unload the collection wagon .. it would no longer be useful to record the same path using the courseplay instead of the autodrive allowing you to also go and download the product automatically? thanks for your answer .. I follow you
Thanks for the suggestion, CP didn't have the manual record option when I made this video, may have to revisit it and see if I can get it to work with CP as well :)
@@ArgsyGaming CP can now work directly on the vine fields with the latest version. For more info checkout the help menu :)
How do you automate unloading the harvesters, and incorporate that into the track? Or just mod them to hold 1000kl?
Haven't figured that part out yet! Not sure if entirely possible with this set up
@@ArgsyGaming Can you have the harvester go to the trailer instead of the normal way and then it pick up the track it was on? I think I am going to try this setup on a test map today.
What would happen if you used the same course for every implement and just calculate an offset for the harvester, of 1.5m?
Not sure to be honest, but that could be an idea to try!
By pressing which button do we save the route and open the menu you just opened?
on the GPS? Left Shift + S
Honestly a little surprised CP doesn't handle the rows yet (haven't tried either but I'd suspect you would have said so if it did ;) )
Nice process, headache to setup but in the long run it would save you a load of time. Would suggest saving yourself the Guidance Steering side of it and just using the manual edit of the AD lines. when you record it sets points at a given interval but you could place them manually just at the start and finish of each row and if it works as well as 19 does it should run (only ever had problems if it thought there was something blocking it, a collision from something parked nearby).
Cheers Argsy
Cheers mate, I reckon in time CP will be able to scan the vines and create a course to suit
doesnt mulcher and plower needs to work from both sides near the roots of the grapes?
I thought there was a bit of flexibility in it, would have to test it out to see.
No
@@craignoob1850 i tested it, and in fact it does matter! Some lines were okay, but most lost the harvested amount
I can't, for the life of me, get my tractor to track straight. It is on a 270 degree line but slowly veers off to the right every time. I also did the A + B. The resulting white line tracks straight down the row all the way to the end but when I turn on GPS to follow it, it veers off to the right very slowly. It's a big field so no chance of making it to the other end.
seems strange, the GPS should track to the angle you have set - perhaps your vines aren't quite at the same angle???
I cannot even get the menu open to start this
Great Video, but cant get those lines straight on each side.rly dont know why..
took me a bit of practice, and Guidance steering was a big help
Heya. I have done everything acording to this tutorila, but my tractor keep saying that he can't reach the location. What can be the cause of the problem?
Best regards, and keep up the good work!
sometimes there is an issue with the path, try starting along the path a little bit further, make sure there aren't any unconnected way points, otherwise you may have to try rebuilding the path
Playing on Elm Creek -planted perfect straight blocks of Grapes - waited for ever to harvest - My Braud 9070L (Base game) is harvesting the grapes off the vines but it is not filling up the Braud 9070L - I found the culprit. It is the "Beware of Straw" mod not working with the Grape Harvester.. Did not test it on the Olive Harvester
Thanks for the tip, good to know!
@@ArgsyGaming another thing I discovered by chance tonight as I was just about to setup my vineyard using your method, was that you can do all your vine work with course play. Same with Olives.
@Zylliant are you serious! That must be a new feature in CP, hadn't tried that before - does that include the harvesting, or just driving between the rows?
@@ArgsyGaming harvesting and pruning and mulching and plowing.
Check under help. Scroll all the way down to courseplay and vinework is the last entry.
Works on grapes and Olives
Have not tested yet what will happen when harvester is full. Maybe can the combine it with autodrive. Will test that in the next season’s harvest
Argsy taking harvesting to new levels with an automatide grape or olive harvest idea that would be a great way to do your harvesting you forgot one little thing that could allow you to do the set up if you had leading in autodrive points to the start location it would set up the harvester on the course you could also add addtional course to short the course when using multiple harvesters and send them to there own start points and end points so they stop harvesting and not run the whole course the only problem i see in this plan is the lake of the ability to unload the harvester.
wonder weather courseplay will address this in the future?
thanks Greg, yeah I did wonder about being able to split the course. If you knew about how many lengths of vine it took to fill the harvester you could split it up to run courses to suit a full load. I don't think courseplay would, unless they can get some way to scan the vines in the game and work around/over those
do you need to lime grape fields ?
not sure tbh! be worth a test to find out
Cool
Thanks
So, when the harvester is full, then what?
Ultimately, you are going to have to keep an eye on fill levels, one of the shortcomings of this. Using the recently released Simple Inspector mod you can see the fill levels without being in the vehicle, so not completely babysitting it
Sad that you didnt showed how to do the teaks because after 10 rows the lines start to be out of rows! :(
But thanks to show us this nice mod!
If it started to get too far out of alignment I would just reset the course - moot point now though as courseplay has the ability to work in vineyards now
GPS guidance mod has a bunch of quick features, if you press alt + home it recentres your course to where your tractor currently is, and if you press alt + page up / alt + page down then you can move the course from side to side without having to access the menu :)
Courseplay takes care of everything except unloading the harvester. Cant figure out a way yet. Autodrive fails to drive on the vines to unload.
Yeah CP is good for grapes/olives now although at the time I made this video it didn't do any of that. - the unloading is the only negative I can see as well
Great video , but now superseded by courseplay dev 7.0.18 version. Would have used this method if had found the video earlier.
Thanks, I need to check out the CP version to see how it works
Run a potato planter for the 1st line
Wow wow wow, you're wasting fertilizer
Dude, 10:03 WTF with the music? Does no one watch these to check for mistakes anymore? Is that "try harding"? Is the idea to put out the worst possible product at all times?
