When starting your bourbon bar, you need bourbon. Available bourbon. While that may feel like a big "duh," so many bourbons are just too hard to find. This list may take some work to assemble, but it's doable and they all have a common theme!

Update: I just learned Beam Suntory recently discontinued Beam Bonded, which makes no sense but whatever. You can substitute this for Old Tub Bottled in Bond. You can read the list here: www.fredminnick.com/2021/09/09/fred-minnicks-six-must-have-affordable-bourbons/
That's too bad. I was looking forward to trying that.
One of my local Walmarts had it on the shelf picked one up
Ugh.back hunting
ShawnSingh-- yeah sux when that happens-- I can't seem to track down older vers.of Bookers either!
n
Man that EW BIB brought back memories of some my favorite videos you've done. Those price point videos were the bomb!!!!
This list has alot of my favorite Bottle in Bond. Old Grandad BIB is another favorite. Great review!
Very straight forward and excellent information. Well done.
🎣 Yes! Every time I go fishing with my grandpa, we eat PB&J and Dr. Pepper. Great memories.
Early Times BIB
Litre for $25
Still damn good
Evan Williams white label BIB was a very pleasant surprise . It's even good as a neat sipper. Who'd a thought
Agree with the vote for Chattanooga Whiskey, their 91 and 111 cask are both really good as well. I would also suggest the Early Times BIB as a strong contender in the category.
I really appreciate how much love you give to Evan Williams, gives me confidence that any other recommendation you make is going to be good!
Great video! It was informative and is really helpful video. Thanks for your information.
Chattanooga Whiskey is amazing. Absolutely love every bottle I've tried. They just keep on hitting it out of the park
Evan Williams Bottled in Bond is my go to when it comes to making a Hot Toddy! Pairs well with any peanut butter based candy as well like Reese’s or Zagnut bars. Outstanding bourbon for the price!
I'm excited that Evan Williams BIB 1.75 liter bottles have been brought back to my area after disappearing from shelves about 5-6 years ago. Now it's an even better deal!
Great video. It's always good to learn about bourbons that are readily available and won't break the bank.
will try to do more of these, mark. appreciate the kind words
Thanks Fred.first for your service. And then for your decency. I think I speak for many when I say that we all enjoy your sentiments,[PBJ]. Good call. Thank you Fred. Thank you very much
I agree with you on the EW BIB. That bottle does not disappoint!
And the BEST bottle in bond....Early Times BiB. SOOOO Tasty!! Tremendous value.
Based on another video of Fred’s I bought 2 bottles of ET BIB, socked away for….???
X-posted. i've been a little nervous about putting early times BIB in this company since the acquisition. i want to give it awhile to make sure sazerac keeps it as brown-forman had it.
@@Bamaboompa I socked away 4 bottles...unfortunately 3 of those are already empty. Hope Sazerac doesn't screw up a great bourbon either with the mashbill, availabilty, or cost.
I think that the flavor has changed
@@kirbyculp3449 so...the Sazerac bottles are what's on the shelf now?
Love me some Old Tub! I also enjoy Early Times BIB.
Great list. BiB is so underrated.
I did a review of that Dickel the other day. Actually loved it. Value was huge since it was 13 years old. Cheers!
I cant stand it personally
Nice going on props to Chattanooga. I have the 111 and it is my fave right now in the under $50 cat. Will look for the BiB next time in Fla, thx.
Agree, Fred. Beam Bonded is special. Best bonded product from Beam. And Dickel BiB is fantastic. You started off the list with two bangers. And OF COURSE Tennessee Whiskey IS bourbon. :) I have an unopened 1792 BiB that I'm excited to try. It's a store pick from Spirits of 66 in Claremore. Evan Williams BiB is what I keep in my decanter. I've been looking for the Chattanooga BiB because I love their 111 proof offering. Can't get Willett products in OK, so will have to look for Old Bardstown when I'm out of town. Great list, Fred.
Thanks for the suggestions. Saw an Evan Williams BIB/1.75l for about $30. What a value!! Drinks wonderfully!
Enjoyed the review
Haven’t seen Beam Bonded in about 18 months on the North side of Dallas. I look in every town I travel too also.
Dant, you mentioned Dant! It’s great and very affordable!
Beam bonded is hard to find in certain areas and JW Dant BIB is a great value pour but it is hard to find in some areas of the country.
Lol, I assumed the JW and BIB was a given
You can find it sitting on the shelf, even dusty in North Texas.
Gotta love the Evan Williams White Label. Just paid $28 for a handle earlier today, along with some Remus Repeal V. :D
1792 bib has such a delicious aroma.
I have to agree with you that Chatanooga Whiskey is pretty amazing. I had the pleasure of visiting them and bought a couple of their experimental blends only available at the distillery and they are only scratching the surface of what they can do.
Evan Williams BIB is the best $20 bottle I’ve ever bought.
Well, without question Brady. Also your reference to blind tasting is soooo true, none of my cool friends can stand JB products, until we do blind testing and then they pick them first every time.
Going with the bottled in bond craft distillery theme, I’d put up any of the BiB offerings from Wilderness Trail as well. Little more expensive right now, but that distillery is doing amazing things and I have never had a sub-standard offering from them.
Tried to find a bottle of the Chattanooga BIB after your last video about it but the only major store carrying near me only has bottles left in it's Champaign IL location, about 150 miles away from me, in the Chicago area.
1792 BiB is my favorite of their offerings also, hard for me to find though
every time he talks about bourbons causes many people to buy up his selections making something that was relatively hard to find much harder.
Old Bardstown is also unavailable in VA as of 9/12/21.
I really do like the old bardstown
I agree with you on the EW BiB. Heaven Hill Quality House should not be overlooked. Just picked up a bottle for $11. I think they could charge double for it. It punches above its weight.
Early Times BIB is another great BIB. One of my fav. Value picks
X-posted. i've been a little nervous about putting early times BIB in this company since the acquisition. i want to give it awhile to make sure sazerac keeps it as brown-forman had it.
I think that the flavor has changed. Maybe its batch variation. ET BiB was delicious and tasted much like 1792 BiB. The latest bottle of ET was ethanolic and took time to taste good.
Picked up a bottle of the evan williams 12 yr red label at the distillery. Hope its good lol. Also this reminded me ti bust out the 1792 bib and try it again
101 every day, George Dickel BIB and Chattanooga whiskey BIB-- great. That's a lot of love going to TENNESEE,
Guess I'll have to take down my cane & don my walkin' shoes for a jog to Bardstown, for that B.I.B. bottle isn't available anywhere else on the planet that I'm aware of. I just love the elusive butterfly quality of some of these mouth watering bourbons, be they local products and thus only available locally or be they allocated. Reminds me of chasing women. And in my experience one should settle with that girl who is available, subject to easy persuasion and leave off the rest. So you can keep your allocated & hard to find bourbon whiskies I'll gladly purchase the good juice that's always readily available and on the shelf.
Great video! I have to agree with you on the Evan Williams; I consider it second only to that Old Forester Signature 100 Proof (though the OF is NOT Bottled in Bond) as an all-around utility player Bourbon, and it's several dollars less. Both definitely punch above their weight. I would also submit the Henry McKenna 10 Year Old Single Barrel Bottled in Bond; the price has gone up since it started winning some significant awards but still a good value if you can find it.
Hello Good day I have few bottles left Dm me if you are interested 🥃
I look for it in every store I go into. It's 50 bucks and I have a couple of them
How you only have 22.7k subscribers is beyond me. Your content is outstanding!
I appreciate that. I cherish ever one of those 22.7k and appreciate them all. :-) I am fortunate to have been doing this for a long time and am still new to UA-cam. I'm very happy with this channel and am thankful for your support. Cheers!
@@FredMinnick what sort of media did you do before UA-cam?
Lots of BIB talk in this video. I may get laughed at but 2 of my favorite BIB bourbons are Mello Corn And Old Tub. They are fantastic and the value Is spot on.
Surprised to see Early Times bottled in bond didn’t make the cut
Me too!
@@trackvol I think it's because the Early Times brand changed ownership and reviewers don't know if the taste is going to carry over.
What's your take on mellow corn That's my big go to for BiB
Very good choices, but for me, nothing beats Old Granddad 114. When I can find it, it’s never more than $23, and the flavor is so amazing. I’ll add a bit of water and sip it neat. Beats out bourbons costing more than double. I’m not a fan of Old Tub, because the flavor is great but it falls completely flat immediately after you sip it.
oh, yeah, 114 is the shit!
Love me some 1792 BiB! I need to pick up a bottle of the Chattanooga. Love their stuff, as well.
The Chattanooga has a heavy malted profile…I like it personally
@@toddtipton2857 If you like Chattanooga, you should try Lee W. Sinclair from Spirits of French Lick in Indiana. It's a four grain with 10% caramel Malt. Delicious.
Question? How long will an opened bottle last if it’s kept in 75 degree no light storage?
Just cracked my "Fred's Blend" Smoke Wagon and sir you and everyone involved did an amazing job!!!!
Saving for a certain event.. really look forward to trying though. 🥃
@@big_whiskey7376 definitely worth it. It's such a great bottle!
old grandad bottled in bond is excellent
Hey Fred what's your opinion about Jim beam double oak ?
Fred, i dont know where you are getting your prices but sofar i can only find the 1792 and it ran me 55.00. I guess i need to ad 20 bucks to what you are buying it for. So hard to find the variety at the jersey shore.
Checked my bourbon sheet and 1792 BIB is not available from the VA ABC and if it was, it is listed at $39.99. This is posted as of today--9/12/21.
No mention of Early Times BIB or Wilderness Trail?
Good video
Found the Evan Wiliams BIB at a local store (Vons) in town--$14!! Darn good for that price.
score!!!! enjoy
I love Evan Williams BIB, that and Evan Williams 1783 have been 2 of my go to Bourbons for years
I'm also a fan of 1783. Cheer's
Im odd. I don't like EEBIB, but like EW1783
@@clydekimsey7503- Yeah I think EW B&B is kinda plain tasting compared to 1783. Maybe a lot of people haven't tried it since it went to 90 proof.
Tell me you’re a fly fisherman. You’re already my favorite whiskey reviewer and 90% of my UA-cam videos are whiskey and fly fishing 🥃
I have always wanted to take the deep dive in fly fishing. But have always been a bass fisherman. Need to get inti it!
Thanks for kind words
The Evan Williams is very good. Not quite as good as WildTurkey 101 but a good $10 cheaper here in Virginia.
Your content kills it, man.
Thanks so much!!! It’s a labor of love
E.W. BIB better than E.T. BIB???😬 I'll certainly have to take your word for it! I've got to try it!
I love george dickle especially the rye
Fred, have you tried Wheel Horse? Just showed up around here, 101 proof, and I've seen some of you contemporaries on UA-cam compare it favorably to WT 101.
Totally agree on the Chattanooga Fred! Great stuff! But come on man, no Early Times?? Would be interested to know how/why that didn't make the list.
as i have stated multiple times on this thread, i am waiting to see how sazerac handles early times before this sort of list consideration. it only got acquired last year.
@@FredMinnick sorry man, just glanced quickly and didn't read many of the comments. Thanks for the reply. Cheers!
Dickel Bottled in Bond is soooo darn good.
Really?
@@sgirl1822 are you really asking or are you just surprised that I think it is good? I really do like the taste but not the price I had to pay. Hoping to try 1792 and evan williams bottled in bond. thoughts there? thanks.
@@MikeM91320 oh i just havnt found a dickel thats tasted good to me yet. As i can remember i do like EW bib but i havnt had it in over a year since ive progressed. Ill go back to it.
@@sgirl1822 The Dickel bib is the first of the dickels i have ever tried and I have never had EW. Hoping the EW bib is good considering the low price. I only got into whiskey this past year so having fun trying different ones. Fred and all the members here are a great resource.
Which Dickel the 13 year or 11 year?
I've been looking for that Jim Beam Bonded in Colorado Springs for months with no luck.
seeing a lot of similar comments. this makes me nervous for what was always a dependable find
@@FredMinnick it's not on their website anymore, I get the feeling that they discontinued it and replaced it with Old Tub. Then again, Old Tub is supposed to be for a limited time, so maybe they have something different in the works.
Undoubtedly a solid list with high value, but David Nicholson Reserve would be my pick over most of these, except the 1792. It is 100 proof but misses the BIB criteria as a NAS sourced bottling. For now, its still sourced from Heaven Hill and is nearly identical to the Evan Williams.
I find the EW BiB to be thin but...it's under 20 bucks so its a good price
That Dickel is NASTY with no issues in NJ on finding this one. These are located on the bottom shelve in most stores and I would replace this with Woodford Reserve Double Oaked anyday.
It sucks that $15 Very Old Barton Bottled in Bond was discontinued in favor of $50 1792 Bottled in Bond.
No Early Times BIB?
Kirkland did a run of the 1792 bib for 27$ a liter what a freakin deal wish I bought more
Not a value pick but the Wilderness Trail BIB is delicious to me. Funky on the nose but like a Cookie Dough finish that is just incredible.
spot on. love it
Their rye is excellent imo
So, the title should be, "6 Available Bottled-in-Bond Bourbons for Your Home Bar Right Now"? Right now, the only bottles in your list I find around me is the Dickel and EW. Beam Bonded was discontinued by the distributor.
No Jim Beam Bonded in NC ABC, nor Bardstown
My cheapest I would go bourbon is Evan Williams. I might write a love letter to the distillery someday, at that price man it's good. Then up from that my next most favorite value bourbon is 1792, no hesitation but emphasis is on the value. Crazy to see the same here from a pro, I am no pro. I am going to try the others if I can find them.
careful with that love letter. they may raise the price
……or start allocating it…..OR BOTH!! 🙄
It’s so weird. In Ontario, Canada (my home base), I don’t believe there any non-allocated Bottled in Bond bourbons available. It’s very strange up here for bourbon fans.
Rittenhouse and Old Tub are a couple I can get in my area in Ontario
@@shibby67 You are right. I didn't realize Old Tub was BiB. Rittenhouse is a rye, though, correct?
Correct, it is a rye. I think it’s a barely legal one and worth every penny at $50 IMO. Sip or Mix worthy 👍
I can’t find 1792 BIBin my area :/
You really nailed it with this list although outside of SmB, 1792 is hard to come by in some places (NC/SC). "Just when I think you couldn't get any dumber YOU GO AND DO SOMETHING LIKE THIS.....and totally redeem yourself!!!"
That is one of the best all time one liners of any movie
@@FredMinnick fuck yeah it is! 😂
South Carolina has THE FREAKIN WORST distribution in the country…..I HATE IT!!!!
Where are you getting dickel b.i.b. for 30? here in Washington after tax thats a 55 to 60$ bottle. The bonded is o.k. the distillers cut was phenomenal. 1792 b.i.b and full proof keep getting better and better. Once again though finding 1792 for 30 would be challenge for most states. Old forester 100 proof is the best value 28.99 plus tax in washington. Evan Williams b.i.b 14.99 crazy value not as good as in past but its still crazy value along with wild turkey 101 21.99. Got to try Chattanooga been hearing great things new riff ryes are lights out smoke wagon pretty tasty as well. Old bardston hmmm ive passed on it many times ill take a look. Thanks for heads up. Sad you took dump on heaven hill b.i.b. awhile back that whisky kicks ass i.m.o. loved ending you aint lyin those bourbons are so underrated both leave blantons in dust and i cant get eagle rare so old forrester 100 for the win. Gin sucks too.
Well aged Dickel is superb, it just needs a little more barrel time. Older Dickel (12-15) can be superb.
Can’t miss wild turkey 101, knob creek 100 proof.
Agreed. If I want a 100-proof Beam product, can you beat Knob Creek? $25 at Sam's Club. (or $21.50 equivalent when I buy a handle for $50).
Early times bib
What's your take on bulleit bourbon?
favorite is definitely the blender's select. overall solid brand
Couldn't disagree more on the Dickel. No issues calling it bourbon, my only issue is calling it good. 🤣.Replace it with Early Times and I'm on board.
i've been a little nervous about putting early times BIB in this company since the acquisition. i want to give it awhile to make sure sazerac keeps it as brown-forman had it.
@@FredMinnick Fair enough. I know it's a rye and not a bourbon, and therefore a violation of the agreed upon terms, but I'll throw Rittenhouse in as a replacement then
The old bardstown vs Evan bib?
it depends on what mood i am in. If I want a peanut butter sandwich, Old Bardstown all day long! But in most cases, Evan Williams wins out here for me.Still, when I crave that flavor, nothing beats Willett products.
You are into Bottled in Bond, right? Why/what is that?
Never seen Beam Bonded.
Hello Good day I have few bottles left Dm me if you are interested 🥃
Early Times BIB! Can anyone still get this? What do you think of it?
You have so many open bottles, won't they go bad after a year or two?
Unless they are less than a third full probably not.
I’m with you on the Jim Beam - everything else agree to disagree
Early Times BiB smokes most of these.
Yep!! 👍🥃
No Early Times BiB?
I’d take Old Tub BiB any day over EW BiB
Just got into Canada this week for the first time since covid and smuggled in a handle of EW BiB. 2663 miles round trip. So you know I like it. Spent a week of hard labor cleaning up 2 years of mice and beaver destruction and swimming in 64 degree water so you need a stiff drink at the end of the day.
I would put Early Times BiB up against this list. $25 for a liter of very tasty bourbon. I also really like Old Forester 100 pf signature but maybe they don't claim BiB status.
I mostly use BiB products for mixing, I find the proof and price perfect for an old fashion, Sazerac, Manhattan, etc.
As regards vodka sucking unless it’s used for hand sanitizer, a study found that whiskey destroys more bacteria than vodka does. In the study, the whiskey killed all the bacteria but the vodka didn’t. So vodka even sucks as hand sanitizer
Lol
I liike Fred, but could do without the "Giddie-up". NEVER Dickle! Fred is in the pockets of Big Dickle.
I'm a tequila and vodka guy. Don't even know why I'm watching this but it's very informative haha
1792 allocated in OH lol
Man. Ohio is so tricky!
A packer fan living in Ohio State University territory.....you're lucky to get any whiskey at all.
@@pickleeater3102 born and raised in WI though lol moved here for work
@@sgirl1822 can you get any Spotted Cow there?
@@pickleeater3102 i dont even know what that is. Beer?
I've tryed bourbons and it isn't interesting and here bourbon {jim beam and mckenna} both come in at 37% and 37.2% alcohol. They are both watery tasting, same with jack daniel's except for the alcohol 40%. It turn me more into scotch and irish whiskey drinker they are tasty and interesting.
Bottled in Bond products are always 50%. So, you are getting something entirely different. I'm guessing that you are in the UK from how watered down your bourbon is.
No Early Times love?
