- I found 2 rare Auto Union DKW Juniors (Pre AUDI) buried here in the woods of my area of NH. One has been sitting in a small barn for over 60 years!! An actual time capsule; I couldn’t say no. So my father and I go unbury and recover these cars in single digit freezing temps. Had to do it! Enjoy the video, and my compulsive obsessiveness!

Very lucky to have such a sound dad.
10 years from now John can open up a museum of small German cars, bagged and bodydropped on beetle chassis 😂
And he has about 50k people who would come visit!!!
😂😂😂
@@GrafsGarage3by then be more like 500k watching
That lowered creation beside the DKW is a BMW? a Neue Klasse Pre 2002 from '60s? or a 508?
Every video with papa Ludwick is a good one. The dream team of roached vehicle recovery!
Holy crap... what an awesome find... and how lucky the parts car has what u need. Bag it and keep it simple. How cool... great video
The videos with your dad are quickly becoming my favourite content for the channel ❤
Dude that thing has a killer shape to it!
Super cool car.... can't wait to see it running. I love how solid and complete it is. I see one now and then cruising Woodward Ave., in the summer months here in metro Detroit. You're so lucky to get a parts car for it too.... on top of that, with good parts you need! You're also 100% correct about saving them. Glad you save them, as someone has to save them! I think you should build your personalty into it..... make it the way you like, as it's your car.
Wow that is awesome! And I appreciate that, there needs to be more people with your outlook!
How amazing is that? A DKW Junior in the states. Never expected that. I drive a Eastern German car with a identical engine. Love the sound of it. It's a Wartburg 353. So please build her up as original as you can. Greetings from the German North Sea Coast.
That is awesome!
Awesome find! Love seeing your Dad in your videos! You two are an awesome team! Can’t wait to see more on this car. I love seeing old oil change stickers on cars and looking at mileage. Very cool!
loved the "Jake-break" in the vid.
And how nice you can still do stuff like that with your dad!
These memories will last a lifetime.
I wish I had a Dad like yours.
So cool to see your excitement - can‘t wait to see it progress
Your pops is a OG always down to do whatever stay blessed !!!!
What a great episode on really cool cars. My father had a DKW when I was about 5-6, I am 68 now. I remember it was a three cylinder and round like his later Volvo PV544.
That’s amazing!
Just met your dad, good guy speaks highly of you and your work! Enjoy the sure trac. Good luck with the 🚌
Hear me out! The junior twins build! Main car gets a mechanic refresh, interior refresh and lowered after robbing the good parts off parts car then the parts car get the Ludwick special vw pan and slammed
Yes! The roached car is the perfect candidate for a VW body swap!
Can't wait to see it all cleaned and polished up
Definitely give this thing the usual John ludwick special! Plus with the awesome story behind it and how the coincidence of it was right in NH near home… man this one’s a keeper
Cant wait to see the straight fender and a buff on it
Great content, John, I really enjoyed seeing you and your dad working together.
Thanks Adrian!
Love the J.m ludwick & son garage ❤️🙏🏼
Slam it to the ground bags are great too these segments with your dad ate awesome gret moments and memories
FANTASTIC CANT WAIT TO SEE START AND DRIVE❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
39:57 cleaned the floor out quick! longform content is great. I hope your subs show some retention
Love the Ludwick and son sign on your dads building. You should get a Ludwick and Dad sign at yours.
Your Dad's an amazing man. They don't make em like that anymore 😉
Great car - great story ! 😃👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
What a find, looking forward to seeing the evolution of this DKW. You're so lucky to have your dad with you on these shenanigans, good move going back up north to be close to him.
My next door neighbour had one in the early sixties in South Wales UK. A very rare car even then. Very distinctive sound starting and running. He loved the car and cleaned and polished it every weekend!
That’s amazing!
Wow, just wow! So cool --- what a neat little car..., thanks for sharing. You got a cool dad!
Amazing cool car. Did you notice the address on the two cycle oil box? South Bend, Indiana, the corporate home of Studebaker-Packard. MB Sales Corp. was a division of Studebaker-Packard. DKW and MB were sold by Studebaker in the US until 1966
Yes exactly! I actually filmed a segment about that, but didn’t put it in the final edit of the episode haha
killer find man... your builds make me keep an eye out in my area for a microcar
Wow! What a find! It’s never been on the road, that’s crazy
You and your dad need to do a series of building some outdoor dry storage at his house for all your cars!
John strikes again! Cant wait to see what the plans are for this one. That roof will clean up excellent too!
Great episode! what a privilege it is to work with your pops
I agree!
Love what you’re doing buddy keep up the good work!!!
Sweet Little Car, I can appreciate Your Infatuation with them.
Those two cars are really cool looking, love to hear it running.. it is awesome that it only has 20 thousand miles on it..
Dude yes! I love learning about these Auto Union cars from you. Love your style of build so excited to see this car come back to life.
I've never heard of DKW juniors until I started watching your channel a few weeks ago. Very cool little car. The engineering back in the Day was so unique. It would be pretty cool if you can get it running even if its only for a minute. You definitely need to get it bagged and chopped. Savin some history 👍
It’s crazy to see a car this old be in such good condition in NH. That has to be one of the only auto unions left in existence in the state
What a great vid to watch on a warm Monday morning at work while doing data entry in Perth Western Australia. Thanks JL.
Would love some of that weather right about now 😂
31:10 definitely. Every year when I put my car away I pull the parking brake and then I'm like "wait a minute, what am I doing?" I just put it in gear (only storing for Winter) and works out fine.
33:40 LOL my dad basically says the same thing when I tell him about my car mod plans, especially when it comes to suspension :D
I’d never heard of DKW, thanks for expanding my knowledge John, some of their motorcycles were just stunning, what a great rabbit hole you’ve just set me down 🤙🏻 another amazing car in your collection, I’m looking forward to seeing this on its rails with some nice split rims on it 😉
Here’s to hoping my kids nap for at least an hour and fifteen minutes today! ❤🤘🏻
😂
@@JohnLudwickupdate, they made it. Incredible finds! Would be cool to build one into sort of a track car/go cart style build, make something fun for all the windy roads up by you!
Congratulations brother. That is a sweet find for sure. Like you said - NEW 😎🤙🌺
That is an awesome ride, love the over all look ! Cant believe how solid it is!
Excited to see a rejuvenation of this car. Definitely document bringing the parts over from the other car and the process there. I definitely am interested in a kind of "Will it run?" with its current engine!
Thanks Elliott! I appreciate you watching, man!
My father purchased a 1964 DKW Junior Deluxe new in 1964 from a dealer in Hackensack, NJ. I remember driving it myself. Fun car with 4 on the column. The 1964 had oil injection with a seperate tank under the hood so you did not need to add it to the fuel. Thanks for the memories!
My dad has some of that era Massachusettes Inspection stickers from when he worked at a VW shop in Quincy MA in the 60s. That is 100% 1962.
What an amazing find! I love that the lettering was similar to the early Volkswagen script logos you'd find on the hoods. Just to see it running and driving would be cool. You sure got your hands full lol.
great episode ! awesome memories with your dad finding a true time capsule 👍
great find I have DKW Junior models and a hubcap. I think the cars are great, better looking than a Ford Anglia
So proud of you man! This car is so absolutely awesome, and I'm so stoked to see how you make it your own. Honestly, already excited to see the good fender and light swapped over from the "parts" car!
Awesome, LOVE the longer format videos! Would love to see it slammed with a modern drive train!
Incredible find!!
Restore the car to its original condition, the car deserves it
What a cool little car
Cool color
Looking forward to seeing what you get done on this.
Amazing..regards from germany
Very cool! I know for a Fact DKWs are Exceptionally rare. I have been looking the last 5-6 years for one too and have only found less than a Handful. The NSU Prinz are equally rare.
"at 50mph the pistons in this thing were swapping holes" got me lol
No !
They just "lap up" high revolutions !
They just sound like they are doing twice the speed because the pistons are doing twice the work people expect. Lol
@@brianrule5547 its just a quote from his dad in the video man
Awsome video. Im probably more use to these cars as im from sweden. So i grew up around them. So cool model
31:50 😀dad and his hammer to the rescue 👍
I’m curious to see that paint shine underneath. Crank the torsion bars down and if it’s not low enough then bag it. Fantastic find!!
Nice one mate. Keen to see what direction this goes. We have an Australian designed car which is kinda up your alley, obscure and limited. Will have one on my page at some point soonish. If I think of it at the time, I’ll tag you in the comments incase you feel like taking a look, zero pressure. Great upload. 👌
That’s awesome man!
What an awesome save man! Hope the see it cleaned up and going down the road again soon! 😃
Thanks man!
@JohnLudwick
Fenders can come off easy John...
Look for front floor & inner guard rust...
You may not see it on the good car, but it may be apparent on # 2 car...
Read my other comments & best wishes from New Zealand ( the land of the long white cloud )
Awesome watch, shoutout bmx 🤙
New to your channel
I watched the episode with the two DKW. FYI, you had a spare tire in the trunk. But anyway, my first car was a 1973 audi 100ls.
I wish I still had it. I saw some on UA-cam dropped with airbags. I'm working on a 1996 obs chevy dually k3500 4door long bed. It's dropped, but I have airbugs on order.
Man I am geed up for whatever you plan to do with this 💪🏽
GOTTA bag it! Long format episodes are the best, and we need more of your dad pahkin’ caahs. This definitely fits in the with the fleet
Happy for you. And that The car have been inside on a concrete floor
Nice job sir cool car Nice show sir 👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏😃
Awesome!
John h as realizado una gran operación,este coche en europa te lo pagarian muy bien sobre todo en alemania congratuleitions ☺
Thank you!
The hole in the front bumper is for access to the points/distributor not a crank handle.
That’s exactly what we were thinking later on!
A little PDR would have that roof looking mint. Then have Larry at AmmoNYC do a detail on it. I'm sure he would love the opportunity to clean that thing up.
1:05:02 front on it looks like and angler fish! What a cool little car!
Like a find of a lifetime. These are also super rare in Germany. You wont find this anywhere anymore, except a museum.
It’s crazy!
Awsome score and saving this rare car !
Absolutely awesome! This is begging to be lowered on polished vw/Audi round holes steelies!
Another Great video John! By the way in the LA section of Craigslist, A guy has a bunch of Auto union cars and parts for sale.
Beautiful vintage.
Need to get someone out to 3d scan that one. Incredible condition
sweet find real score
“I’ll be glad when you outgrow it “ 😂 luv ya dad
Amazing 😂
Did anyone notice at 30:39 when the battle of the stuck parking brake began that it looks like the car keys are lying there on the floor? That's a major plus in itself.
Yes they are! I didn’t notice until afterwards!
Hell yeah bro. Save them all!
My uncle took me to look at one of those around 1968. It was a running driving car for only fifty dollars. Thank god I passed on that one. The sound it made running was enough to give anyone religion. For the same money I bought a 55 Chevy two door post. The farmer had swapped in a 283 power pack engine. It had a three speed manual on the column with overdrive. I drove it home.
That's so cool 😎
I can`t believe it...a DKW in the States ? I am from Germany, in 1970 my father had an DKW F 12, the brother of the Junior...with 3 zylinder two stroke engine, and angry 45 horsepower.😂Nice video!!! greetings from Germany, Jens
By the way, what a find! I can’t wait till you swap out the fender and give her a polish!
Mk1 man, now I like your dad that much more.
😂
Slam it Brother! So stinking cool! Love your channel!
Thanks man!!
What a beautiful car!
How about an idea for the parts car - still on a Beetle pan, but this one lifted on big knobbly tyres, Baja-style!
That trailer is awesome! Made this job look easy
It’s going to make me want to upgrade my open trailer 😂
Love this find!💪🏼
You guys are heroes!
Great series 👍
