but what if... each universe back story is unique and the joker is so mentally broken he can see all his horrid origins from abusive parents to one really bad day and that's why he can't tell which is real anymore
FoxRNG Well remember Batman musing to Alfred “I don’t know him, Alfred. All these years and I don’t know who He is anymore than He knows who I am. How can two people Hate so much without knowing each other?” For me that pretty much answers that question, But of course there is that flashback from the Joker’s memory that gives us Batman encountering that nameless comedian who becomes the Joker in that Red Hood costume, but there are quite a few hints there that this is just one of Joker’s many flashbacks of his origin, “Sometimes I remember it one way, sometimes another... If I’m going to have a past, I prefer it to be Multiple Choice!” The fact that this flashback is in sepia coloring and Batman’s outfit is rather different than how it looks in the main story and especially the fact that Batman doesn’t pursue him when he’s looking down at him struggling in the river and surfaces across the bank of the river are just indications that this is just a fever dream interpretation of Joker’s origin from the recesses of his twisted mind. So it’s not something I really have any problem with. I’ve always thought Joker’s permanent skin bleaching and greenish hair and permanent grin was something that was done to him in childhood and it completely shattered his sanity, similar to the character in ‘The Man who Laughs’ which was an inspiration for The Joker for his creators Bill Finger & Jerry Robinson.
People being able to relate to the Joker is what makes the new Joker movie so good, any villain can be evil just for the sake of being evil. The descent into madness for Arthur was extremely well done imo, and that's what made movie so good. Joker wouldn't have been as good if he just fell into chemicals and boom, he became the Joker. Also, it's a movie, normal people won't fucking want to go kill people cause they saw a movie with a villain who wasn't "I'm evil cause I am!"

The reason why it's better for the Joker to not have a conclusive backstory is because it makes him just like any member of the masses, symbolically portraying the evil and insanity that lives within us all that merely waits for something to come along to push us over the edge so that it can take control. Not only is he an undoubtably legendary villian due to the level of evil he is willing to go to, but a philosophical ideology in and of himself.
6:13, One of the most popular comic book super villains, The Joker has been played by many actors. Including the likes of Cesar Romero, Jack Nicholson, the voice of Mark Hamill, Heath Ledger, and most recently, Joaquin Phoenix in his own spinoff film, ‘Joker’.
I never felt like Joker needs a backstory, it’s what makes him a greater villain, as Joker is in itself unknown we never know what he’s going to do next so why should we know such a spontaneous and enigmatic person story when we know nothing of him already, we are basically telling a shadows story.

Ian Jackson So what exactly did that scene with the chemicals say about the Joker? He almost lets her die but then he has a second thought and goes back to save her. Why? That isn't explained at all. You may say, "because he loved her" but what is it about her that he loves? He wants to walk away but something makes him go back. I think The Killing Joke origin is the best origin for the Joker. No add-ons or retcons, The Killing Joke origin is just the story of a guy who had a really, REALLY bad day. But I also like what he says later on where the Joker says, "Sometimes I remember it one way, sometimes another, but if I'm going to have to pick, I prefer it to be multiple choice!"
What about the origin story that said he has been the joker for hundreds of years because wen he was young he found a lazorth pit and Everytime he went in it he got more deranged and thru history he was known as the pale man who laughs
So what happened at the end of the "Batman: The Killing Joke" movie? Did Batman become insane or did he genuinely find what the Joker said funny and did they become friends? I was so confused by the ending.
I think they have been enemies for so long that it's almost as if they have become frenemies, I think it was a moment of piece different from their usual dance of catching joker and jailing him.
heath ledger was great in his own respects but nothing like the REAL joker. He like everyone else in Nolan's film played his own version of the character which isn't bad or wrong but it definitely isn't the joker as he should be portrayed.
Ok, I haven't read the comic books, and Watchmojo is contradictory to itself, so tell me. In the first Watchmojo Joker origin video, using The Killing Joke, they said that the man-turned-Joker was nameless. Here, they say his name is Jack. 1. Which one is true? 2. If his name is Jack, is his last name (like I sometimes hear) Napier?
The "Brave and The Bold Vol 3 31" one gives me Charles Lee Ray aka Chucky vibes. Both grew up in abusive households, both were emotionally anti social+sociopathic, both became criminals/murderers, and one eventful day/night caused them to become a living embodiment of something normally made to bring joy and happiness, now corrupt and twistedly evil. One origin I prefer is in the 2004 cartoon, where he was an office worker (possibly at Ace Chemicals) who grew up without any attention from his parents or anyone else for that matter, and just wanted to be seen and make people laugh. After one bad day at the office, it ends with him falling into one of the chemical vats and becoming the crazy attention-obsessed entertainer who will make people see him and make them laugh, whether they want to or not. Simple, yes, but really the point of the Joker isn't to wonder who he once could have been or how he came to be, what matters is who he is now and society has to deal with him, at least until someone is brassy enough to finally put him down.
"If I'm going to have a past I prefer it to be multiple choice." ~Joker

Let's give him a chance to shine on the upcoming Batman movie
He sucks......so they did a good thing not showing that garbage in this video.
+Akib Hassan Maruf why exactly
He doesn't.
Do you wanna know how I got these sca...."All that chitchat's gonna get'cha hurt"
2:46 thats Two faces hand from the old Batman movies
Hey guys did you know Bruce Wayne's parents died??
What no way! spoilers man spoilers gosh! lmao
wait if batman's parents died, how was he born lol
thanks man, I might as well never watch a batman movie ever again now

MARTHA!!!
What about the origin story that said he has been the joker for hundreds of years because wen he was young he found a lazorth pit and Everytime he went in it he got more deranged and thru history he was known as the pale man who laughs
"Batman is teaching a criminology course, because... The Fifties." Hilarious. Love it!
hawkeye18100 sadly im to young to understand this joke
@@OGKWAM Teacher Batman

Here after the 2019 Joker Trailer!
The Joker is one of the most iconic DC supervillains in the DC comic books and one of Batman's most greatest enemies in Gotham City.
Villains in general

HOLY SHIT WATCHMOJO DIDNT MAKE A LIST VIDEO
EVERYBODY PANIC
Who’s here because of a 2019 movie name The Joker?
2:22
"Jack"
Hey, in Arkham Asylum he took the identity of "Jack White" to get the Titan formula
Best villain its a fact
Ronald isn't doing well after he got fired from McDonalds
So what happened at the end of the "Batman: The Killing Joke" movie? Did Batman become insane or did he genuinely find what the Joker said funny and did they become friends? I was so confused by the ending.
Bats Killed Me
I think he was laughing in a ironic way. I think that because it appears in the comic he killed him while laughing.
there's a theory that batman killed joker. but they also could've just shared a laugh. they didn't become friends.
I think they have been enemies for so long that it's almost as if they have become frenemies, I think it was a moment of piece different from their usual dance of catching joker and jailing him.
seeing as though DC comics has multiple universes, the safest bet is to say he killed joker but also didnt.
I never knew that when the newest iteration of the Joker's line "Huba huba huba" is an homage to the original batman's joker 6:22.
can someone tell of a good app to read all these comics for free?

Isuu
You killed Captain Clown!!
He's alive
Jack Nicholson joker is just legendary and right below him Heath ledger.
The new one is really bad
bandwagon
heath ledger was great in his own respects but nothing like the REAL joker. He like everyone else in Nolan's film played his own version of the character which isn't bad or wrong but it definitely isn't the joker as he should be portrayed.
leto wasn't bad the joker was bas, but supposedly that's not even joker it's Jason todd
Nicholson's really wasn't that great. It just gets a pass for nostalgia nowadays
+Grim no it fucking isn't. Stop with this theory already
sometimes he remembered it one way
sometimes the other
if he's going to have a past, he's going to have it multiple choice
see this is what i didnt see in jared letos joker. he was psychotic and all but wasnt a fun comical it was more like mobster mentality
Like Jack Nicholson
+Romefeller And yet, you still dont understand this video...
Romefeller Joker has been a gangster before but it still feels like the Joker, Jared was just there tbh
"The id to his superego" I really like this line :) well placed sir
Ok, I haven't read the comic books, and Watchmojo is contradictory to itself, so tell me. In the first Watchmojo Joker origin video, using The Killing Joke, they said that the man-turned-Joker was nameless. Here, they say his name is Jack.
1. Which one is true?
2. If his name is Jack, is his last name (like I sometimes hear) Napier?
OK. Thanks. That helps.
This si the issue with DC comics all the villians and heros have different origin stories.
it is complicated you need to read all the origins and then make up your mind for one of them
In the Killing Joke he is nameless. Jack Napier comes from the Batman movie with Jack Nicholson.
Well most recently the joker is actually three different people......yeah try to understand that
The "Brave and The Bold Vol 3 31" one gives me Charles Lee Ray aka Chucky vibes.
"because the 50s"
hahahahahahahahahaha
I love how the thumbnail looks like the joker is drinking a cup of tea all fancy like with his pinky out lol
Leather face Joker.
Through all of the updated and different origins, it has to be said that Jack Napier is the true identity behind The Joker
Renato Costa Jack Napier has only been used for the Burton films.
Marvel can copy any DC characters, but not Joker, not JOKER!!
Carnage and Green Goblin?
