As a former K-8th grade art teacher, I learned the value of enhancing the children’s artwork at our annual art show. It was always about presentation. I often “framed” their artwork by pasting it onto larger sized construction paper - sometimes double “framed.” People were always awestruck by the beauty and excitement of it all. It was considered one of the major events of the school year.
5 Tips from Kevin: *Frame yout artwork to showcase the best features *Move your easel closer to the window to capture better sunlight variations of colour *Use blue shop towels to blot excess oil grom painting *Start painting with a big brush for underpainting, then end with a small detail brush *Build depth in the underpainting
Kevin Hill, being a deep-seaman for most of my long life, I have been drawn to your seascapes without the beach or shore included. I used to watch wandering Albatrosses gliding over the rough long-low swells over the sea after my watch. At eighty-two, I need to be more creative in my retired life. So, decided to take up painting seascapes with stormy night scenes and full Moon-light with acrylics. You clearly have the expertise I need to learn with me starting a complete novice. So, I have subscribed to your channel on UA-cam. John Eric Hoare.
Kevin Hill - you are truly the best. You are the first person to share the tips about soft to sharp. Thank you SO MUCH for sharing this. I follow a lot of other youtube teachers and I have found that you offer the best teaching. Thanks again for being the best.
I have problems with techniques with trees. I can do pines but other trees are challenging. Your such a talented painter. Hope I will grow to be as good as you. I love painting! It calms my anxiety and it makes people happy.
You are an incredible artist and teacher I love watching you paint... Having said that your voice makes you easy to listen to!! Thanks for teaching us how to paint!!
These tips seem great for all kinds of painting and coloring. The tip about starting broad and working down to detail makes most sense to me along with working in natural light. I am in the process of moving but I hope to try these tips soon.
You're great! I took a break from painting for a few months and recently came back. You were the first place i looked. You too teach well and your talent is inspiring
Painting has always been my hobby. But I never actually had the opportunity to take a professional lesson. I have learnt sooooo much from your videos. Glad to have found your channel. Thank you!
@@VSShilpa , I put it off, too. All my friends are artists, and most are better than I. The table where I used to paint has been piled up for years and each time I walk past it, I realize my dream of painting again is becoming a nightmare. I also realized if I can't begin again at a time when I'm supposed to be staying home, I'm really not in good shape with no excuses. If I have creativity or talent, it is my responsibility to make use of it. I am cleaning off my table now, and something will get painted this week. I challenge you to do the same.
I've been painting like this many years but however I never fined tuned until I saw your video. You have helped it so many ways. Just wanted to say thank you
You so talented ,being 5 years I'm watching your videos and so incredible all followers are artist ❤ Please you can make video how can sell our artwork online or locally
two things I did when I started painting (which is only three months ago I think) was buy blue parasols for my south facing balcony instead of red ones, because it gets real sunny in my room and I didn't want to have red ambient light on the canvas; and a daylight table lamp for painting in the evening or at night. Very happy I did, too :) Thanks for the tips! I specially like the last one.
I can speak to the framing tip. Even if it is a very simple frame, and with the understanding that many times a buyer will ditch your frame in favor of one that is more to the buyer's preference, it is still important to demonstrate the "finishedness" of the work.
