    I've been working on Planche leans and Pseudo Planche Pushups. Setting my feet against something and marking the ground to track my progress has helped so much. Thanks for these informative videos!

    Nice video. I haven't had pseudo planche pushups in my rotation for a while. I'll add them back in soon and try with your new recommendation of not putting the head against a wall.

    Heck yeah, these push ups are crazy. Also a good idea to record yourself from the side to see where you hands go when at the bottom. They might be further away from your hips than you think.😅

    You should try to maintain scapula protraction when lowering down to keep tension on the shoulders

      If you wanna build strength towards handstand push up,pike push ups,if you wanna build strength towards tuck planche push ups or bent arm planche,pseudo push ups,no one is better it depends on your goals

    • @frizz6779
      @frizz6779 2 місяці тому +14

      Brother I do both so I think I can answer your question. I do 3 sets of 12-15 for both . Since I am into calisthenics right now my goal is to achive the handstand and for learning handstand there can be no excercise better than the pike push ups because it makes u familiar with the stance and also strengths your shoulders. Pike walks are also good . But I have experienced a lot of time that my shoulders are more engaged in pseudo push ups rather than in pike push ups . So if u can easily do 15-20 PERFECT normal push ups and want to build shoulder muscles as well as strength, then i would recommend u the PSEUDO PUSH UPS . I gurantee that u will see improvement in your shoulder strength as well as some definition of the muscles . And if u want to achieve the skills like handstand and handstand push ups then also add PIKE PUSH UPS to your workout . Thanks for reading to the end 😊

      Pike is best for shoulders but its very intense. Start with pseudo plank for warmup than finish with pike for intensity.

    For full planche push ups isn’t better to do pseudo with protraction all the time?

    • @DravenBoone
      @DravenBoone 2 місяці тому

      That's what I do.

    • @Mr.freedom1
      @Mr.freedom1 2 місяці тому

      That's not possible. In every horizontal push up exercise (if done correctly), your shoulders will retract when lowering.

  • @chocolateflavoredducks3414
    @chocolateflavoredducks3414 2 місяці тому

    Thought we were suppose to maintain protraction throughout the movement?

    • @FitnessFAQs
      @FitnessFAQs  2 місяці тому +3

      Staying protracted limits the shoulders movement. Lowering into retraction when descending a push-up is natural. Protraction towards the lockout is recommended though, that's the unique advantage of push-ups over bench press.

    If my goal is full planche push up, can I get there by practicing this alone?

    • @wilmerdimitribardalesromero
      @wilmerdimitribardalesromero 2 місяці тому

      This is the first step to full planche push up,but there are many other steps.
      1.Pseudo Push Ups(You need to get 15 reps with your hands at waist level to go to the other progression)
      2.Tuck Planche push ups(In this push up you just go into a tuck planche position and do a push up,do it with paralletes or between 2 chair to have better range of motion)
      3.advanced tuck planche push ups(Now you only need to lean a little bit forward and try to move your legs to a 90 degree angle,you can watch this progression on UA-cam to have a better idea,like in the 2 progression use a chair for better range of motion)
      There are other steps and progressions that you can watch in UA-cam my friend,search it and you will know what to do👍
