Thanks for an interesting video and great comments. 🙋♀️ I actually recognised some of your reflections with my sons thoughts after he has moved to Finland. Especially that he likes the straight forward attitude. I like that too. Regards from Birgitta, Stockholm, Sweden. 😊🇸🇪
A very nice analysis and I guess, comparison between Finland and Japan. Japan in one of the countries I definitely want to visit one day. I feel like finnish and japanese culture have quite a bit in common, like not expressing yourself too loudly, being polite to people, a certain touch of humility and so on.
I think Finland changed me the same way. I lived there for 11 years and my life got simpler and calmer as a result. I also relate to the fashion style part. I used to be fashionable (didn't like it, though) and now I wear minimalistic and practical clothes. Whenever I go back to my country I cringe seeing women wearing luxurious items and high-fashion clothes. I'm glad I still feel like a Finn even though I'm not living there anymore :)
Very good video you have done ? Most of the foreign people in Finland only looks the things what they see in day light , you have gone with this video deeper in your soul and and also in the Finnish soul. Very good journey in the depth of our mind.
Nice to find your video as we’ve both been here the same length of time. Finland has changed me too and I feel much happier here! If you’re ever up the far North feel free to send a message and I can show you around. Enjoy your time here, Matt.
From where I come, North Savonia, people are much less straightforward and are kind of expected to read the athmosphere. For a while after moving elsewhere (culturally speaking, to western Finland), I was at times shocked about the directness. The second time I was shocked was when I returned to Finland from Japan, even that it was only a two week trip.
I am a Spanish living in Finland, I was a year in Helsinki and now I am in Kuopio, I need to say that I do agree with you very much. In Helsinki was easier to do cultural activities and be accepted because my Finnish was not good, not same in Kuopio.
Hehe, interesting! Sometimes as a Finnish person I wish there would be more things to see though, haha. Bigger fireworks, beautiful gardens, amazing rollercoasters etc.
Come to Ohio...King's Island, Cedar Point...Kingwood Center...major sports franchises...plenty of cities doing fireworks on July 4th...Rock-and-roll Hall of Fame...a Great Lake...forests and rivers...mosquitoes (you will feel right at home)😁
That is my favorite reason for watching videos by people who have moved here or are studying Finnish. You see and learn so much stuff you never ever even realized was true. Sometimes an outside perspective valuable for introspection
Japan like Italy have a lot in common with each other as well a few aspects of Finland. Your perspective is fascinating for sure. Have you visited North Finland? We just released a video in Lapland.
It's funny how I have realized, more or less, these same things during the past few years, and I've lived here in Finland all my life. I suppose these things also come with age haha.
If you see this, it would be nice to hear if your Japanise friends and family have noticed some changes in you after you have lived in Finland for so long?? Like, have they ever told you that you have changed in some ways??
I think finns should see these kind of videos more often to appreciate conciously and "mindfully" these things that can be easily meditative and therefore extremely healthy besides sauna and iceswimming.
it is very smart to buy practical clothes instead if spending way too much for the brand you don't see that often in Finland sadly anymore, it's mostly kids trying to be cool but it's still a shame
One of my dreams is to reside in Finland, far away from my hometown (Malaysia). Thank you for this video. It gives me more motivation to catch that dream of mine 😊
I really enjoy the simple lifestyle as well. It's an interesting realization, that so many of the things we keep and strive for, are actually burdens. The basics are more important. What good is earning a million, if I don't know how to live life without spending it all? A lot of "successful" people are trapped by their own expensive habits in this way. Being able to exist with little, offers a powerful sense of freedom. And the savings go up, like you say! :) Hello from Denmark!
@@DAIKIFinlandLife Overall, yes, pretty similar! Though it depends a bit on the region, this is a common trait in most Nordics. I used to find the place a bit boring, but now that I'm older I can appreciate it! :)
Hi, it was nice to find your video! A week ago I was seated next to a Japanese lady flying from Frankfurt to Osaka via Helsinki. We found a lot of things to talk about, and also quite a much similarities between our nationalities. She made my day by giving an apple when surprisingly there was only coffee and tea to buy on board. I'm so happy to say she and you are nice guys, and now there's a new unforgettable friend somewhere in Osaka...her name means "Daughter of Brightness" in Japanese.
After beating your body to the ground with work and gym throughout the week getting home and going to sauna with cold beer is the greatest thing in life. One of those simple things that's hard to beat.
hmm, i wonder how much life in finland resembles the life in the japanese countryside? i have wanted to visit japan for years for the amazing nature, but it's a long way to go for a nature walk. :D
That last one made me laugh 😄 As a Finn, it would be strange to stay and wait for my friend to leave the place. It might even happen that my friend comes back to ask if they forgot something or forgot to say something 😆 it's really great to hear what you think about Finnish culture and also to to learn Japanese behavioral culture. I appreciate Japanese politeness and kindness.
I have thought for a long time that Japan and Finland share many of their best traits with eachother. Respect, and Thank you.
Yes, I think so too, and thank you!

Welcome to Funland(Finland),bro!
You should visit Northern Sweden/Norrland sometime too Mr.Yoshikawa. Very similar to Hokkaido in nature.
Interesting analysis. Enjoy your stay in Finland!
Thank you!
Nice to hear that you been enjoying your time here :)

I love this. Maybe you summarise the essence, why Finland is seen to be the happiest country in the world. Thank you.

I actually lived in Rovaniemi for 5 month :) Cool, I will check that out!
You start strongly with "Finnish don't have much expectations in life" :D
But ok, I get what you mean. Sounded a little... well... ;)

I moved to Finland at the end of summer of 2016 too haha
Hope you had nice time in Finland!
Nice. I usually have functional clothes, so when it comes to going out for dinner or applying for a job, I have nothing zu wear!😳😳
That's a good point...actually me too...!!
As s Finnish guy, my favorite pharse is "Keep it simple, stupid". Short and easy to remember. :P
I mostly hear that in the context of programming and software but it applies to a lot of other parts of life too :D
I am 22 seconds in and holy moly he's got a nice jawline

Are u leaving ? Sounded so grim and done that been there XD
Haha no I'm not leaving :p
You need a boat. And a friend who knows knots and boating. Not me, I know it!
That sounds good :)
nice if people off ..
Nice video, but do you also use speech in the backround when you make music videos? Strange and disturbing.
:)
Do you wear overalls?
