for mini itx cases, i think this is a great approach where you recommend the best cooling config for that particular case. mini itx is more design driven (subjective), has varying limitations based on case, and people are willing to spend more on them, so it's less important to compare case to case on an apples to apples basis. if people know what the various cases are capable of (cooling wise), they can choose their pick between price/performance/aesthetics.
I absolutely love not just the level of detail in your testing, but the fact that you consistently point out gotchas in testing methodology and warnings about what conclusions can be drawn from a particular data set. Keep up the good work!
@@GamersNexus Ah my bad, I missed the cut to the B roll, thought it was you walking up to the desk to do the review for a second! :D (Heard your voice, did not realise you were behind the camera? :P )

Don't think we need an NR200 cases review. Atp we all know thats its one of the best itx cases available. I would like it if GN reviewed lesser known and newer ITX cases. Like the upcoming Q58
Would definitely love more ITX case reviews! With the uniqueness of ITX, they doesn't even have to be standardized. maybe just 240/280 AIO and biggest air cooler you can fit
Yeeesss!! ITX content!! Having been a full tower person for over a decade, now that I've gone ITX, I'm not looking back, so love to see some ITX content on here! :)
Thank you for recommending this case. I had spent alot of time looking for an honest review and "We don't hate it" from this site is good enough for me.
For standardizing mini-ITX testing, the different supported hardware is part of the features of the case. Standardizing is simple: use the same brands or families of hardware, in an optimal or recommended build. Say, Scythe or Noctua fans in supported sizes, some model of clc available in multiple sizes, a couple of popular air CPU coolers where you pick the largest one that fits. That's the most useful way to compare these cases. I'd love to see these reviews with GN thoroughness! The fact that the hardware is different is the feature of the case. Love the look of this one, and the vertical form factor takes up much less desk space. Wish this existed when I did my last build!
Yep, I scooped it up for that price and it just arrived today! I haven't begun building in it yet, still waiting on other components to arrive. Also still trying to decide what to do for cooling, this is my first real PC build and I saw another video with air cooling in this case, I might go that route. Liquid cooling makes me nervous
I surprisingly really like this case. It seems pretty well designed for an ITX and seems like the perfect fit for a "portable" audio workstation for when I play live shows.
I love how Steve has set the standard for how Tech Industry components should be made, and if they are worth buying. It has saved me a lot of money 💰 and headache
Built a rig i've been using for roughly a year now in this case. It's got good airflow. The fans on a founders 2080 ti and a ryzen 5800 with 240mm aio provide all the airflow in the case. The founders 2080 ti fan/cooler setup is kinda ideal for this case imo; it pulls air in through the front and out of the mesh sides. The mesh panels don't really work as dust filters as the holes are too large and only keep out larger particles like pet hair and whatnot. Did my first de-dusting a few weeks back and a thin layer of talcum like dust accumulated on the fan blades, radiator, etc (get a lot of dust living in a dry desert climate). However the easy to remove panels make regular cleaning fairly simple, especially for a mini-itx case. Really easy to open this thing up and clean the major components. Only downside in my instance was that I am using my motherboard's built in wifi for internet connection. There's room at the bottom of the case for the motherboard's provided antenna, however, when standing upright the antenna are completely concealed within the case. This was creating a nasty Faraday cage effect and high packet loss. I had to buy a separate, extended, desktop antenna to replace the stock motherboard ones.
picked up this case for $130 off newegg with the power supply. been a fan of the minimalistic look of it and very excited to build in it. i have a msi 3060ti gaming trio and was very happy to see it supported it. excited to see how the thermals look in this case on the gpu since the heatsink is completely overkill on it.
I'm moving into my first ITX build at the end of this month. I managed to finally secure a SSUPD Meshlicious which is coming in a few weeks. The Revolt 3 was going to be my second choice
Meshlicious deff blows this one out of the water. roughly same size and price, better temps, TG panel option, ATX PSU option, back panel is accessible. Yeah, I'm convinced this case will only appeal to ITX people with riser cable PTSD.
Or formd T1. Although a lot of these smaller cases do really call for specialized, planned out builds rather than hotswapping test beds, as Steve alluded to in the review. Bitwit and Hardware Canucks do good ITX case reviews. Ever der8auer reviewed the Hyte Revolt 3, so good on iBuypower for at least making review units accessible internationally.
Yup bought my Ncase M1 over a year ago for the same price including shipping, sure no power supply included, but it's better to get a better one and have a more space optimized build overall anyways.
@@hunterbiden9510 In fairness, the Meshlicious has less I/O on the front (some might prefer that), costs a little more, and in particular is quite a bit tighter on the CPU cooler height. You can use the Wraith Prism cooler in the Revolt, but not the Meshlicious. Does look like the better case overall though.
Hey, love the videos guys. Are you planning on doing a review of Tech Ingridients' thermal paste? They're making some bold claims in their videos, and I would love to see it put through the Gamers Nexus testing!
It'd make more sense for a case like this to use a similar layout to the Series X. Have the mainboard mount horizontally on the bottom, and then use a vertical riser for the GPU, and then have two 140mm intake fans on the first three sides of the case while the GPU takes up the fourth side, and then have all of that heat exhaust out the top with an L adapter for the HDMI out from the GPU. That way, this case could've also supported a standard tower heatsink or even potentially a passive heatsink with three-way air intake and then one big top exhaust fan.
Just to address closing remarks - I think everyone would appreciate your ITX reviews regardless of whether they're standardized or not. Just testing an ITX case and specifying the components used is plenty valuable for potential buyers, as it gives them metrics to go off of.
Old review by now, but I hope you guys keep doing SFF reviews. For 20+ years dating back to the old Shuttle shoeboxes, I've always found compact pc builds interesting and pay attention to the various case options. They're less necessary these days thanks to streaming options like Moonlight or Steam Link, but as someone who spends a lot of time living in downtown metro areas, I meet plenty of people who only have one non-laptop PC in their homes and oftentimes they go for tiny builds. I'd love to see you guys review the new orginpc Chronos v3 prebuilt, and also the Ssupd Meshlicious (yes, more "tower" style sff cases, I love that tiny footprint).
I second wanting to see reviews for these cases. Especially because the NR200p can actually fit some of the GN standardized testing. I have the Meshlicious as my daily driver and I have never seen any remotely concerning temps from any part of my system. Only downside to it is a lack of cable management.
The SG13 is my bar against which I would measure any other ITX case. Functional, easy to build in (in my opinion anyway), decent airflow, and it's reasonably priced.
funny, just built my oldest son's first pc in this case before your video. didn't get an included power supply because I like to pick my own parts, why I buy a case and not a pre built... anyways, can't afford to get performance parts for a 10 year olds pc so he has an i3 10k and a 1050ti I got donated from a coworker and this case works great for that use. did throw in a 750w EVGA power supply for upgradability and motherboard supports the next gen from Intel for a few years down the line. he uses the headphone holder especially his desk is small and his little components stay cool.
Would have liked to see air cooler attempted instead of just liquid, I know said not recommended so would have liked to see the experts show if it should even be attempted
The case manufacturer partnered with maingear, main gear sells these with The current top of line hardware 4090 gpu along with Intel or AMD‘s best offering. I did notice, though they only use a special model low profile Bequiet cpu air cooler for all configurations. So it must work much better.
I'm not sure who throws more shade, GN or DBrand. Good god, if there's ever a long-standing partnership between you two, you'll black out the sun. Pelican case? Headphone holders? A handle? This case would've been amazing back when everyone would lug their full tower rigs to lan parties. I'm genuinely curious how relevant the lan party scene is for these design choices to exist. Though the design itself seems a bit lacking, and a bit odd in some areas. Almost as if someone quickly drafted the case with minimal real-world use cases, thus no real-world optimizations appear on the final product. A couple key areas are radiator tubing and the 80mm fan mount oddity, things that could easily be changed if the case has a more realistic design to it. I know small formfactor cases aren't always the easiest to design, but the design is a bit questionable in some areas. Maybe we'll see better designs as more companies get into this formfactor, if it ever becomes less niche.
The Thermaltake Core V21 is still my favorite small cube case. Could fit a mATX, full sized GPU and CPU cooler, and a full sized PSU. only thing I hated was the cheap plastic for the feet, and the front panel ports also used cheap plastic that ended up snapping off.
Ya’ll really got to review more ITX cases and do some kind of showdown or something. Also reviews for cases that are actually available. So many cool little cases that just straight up sold out
built my 10 year olds first pc in this case, his antenna is where those useless 80mm fans would be held in place with a couple zip ties. wire just reached and his signal is great 👍
Great work as usual. A question: will you review the Lian Li O11 Air Mini that just released? It seems quite promising but I'd like to see its thermals tested by you!
I like it. Unlike most "Gamer" cases its not obnoxiously fugly with a idiotic glass panel(s). Also appreciate the orientation - footprint space is far more valuable a resource than vertical space. I'd buy one with the "rust" panel - would go with all my brown Noctua fans. Visiting their website to check on the viability of buying one - I'm greeted with "international shipping is not currently available". As I live in Canada, that ends that - as is oh so often the situation.
Oh awesome! I just purchased this case last week. I attend a LAN party with friends about twice a year so the handle really appealed to me. Definitely a limited use case but it seems perfect for that.
@@Killswitch1411 I went with no PSU as I wanted to get a 750 watt SFXL (eyeing the Lian Li). I did not get the special edition... I wish it was an option. I would have done it for that travel case.

Maybe we'll see better designs as more companies get into this formfactor, if it ever becomes less niche.
it would have been black... as in them trying to out shade each other...
That masterpiece of an intro, though
Yes, that one is going to be hard to beat.
I really like the by by bulky laptop phrase that they claim. Your the best Steve
Starting the video with a Linus moment .. priceless.....I like the 'bronze'/ rust coloured front mesh...and a meh rating is better than a fire 🔥
I got it with the power supply for 129 almost 50 percent off. it was a no brainer to make a portable desktop gaming pc
I still got my Raijintek ITX case from 2014. Highly modified and still smaller than most ITX cases today.
The Thermaltake Core V21 is still my favorite small cube case. Could fit a mATX, full sized GPU and CPU cooler, and a full sized PSU. only thing I hated was the cheap plastic for the feet, and the front panel ports also used cheap plastic that ended up snapping off.
And it fits perfectly in Ikea Kallax/Expedit shelves!
Althoutgh I went with the Sama im01 instead, best 60€ spent on a case yet!
Ya’ll really got to review more ITX cases and do some kind of showdown or something. Also reviews for cases that are actually available. So many cool little cases that just straight up sold out
Came for the review, left checking out a new band. Never heard of Coexistence!
how effective are wifi antennas when mounted on the bottom of the case, buried in a mess of other cables?
built my 10 year olds first pc in this case, his antenna is where those useless 80mm fans would be held in place with a couple zip ties. wire just reached and his signal is great 👍
@@WARweezy Oh yeah, I forgot some of them have a wire. Mine just screws straight into the motherboard
Steve's bit about the carry handle deserves it's own time stamp - 4:23
I'd love to see this compared to the Silverstone Sugo 14/15. Parts may be able to be swapped 1 to 1. Thanks for doing more case reviews!
+1 for wanting to see the SSUPD Meshlicious reviewed
The "rusty" front mesh looks great in my opinion!
The case looks nice but lack of easy access to the rear I/O can be detrimental. Now would love to see your review of Lian Li's O11 Air Mini.
You should take into account drawn power from the chord vs temperature... thats a good indicator to quantify energy disipation.
I like the rust/bronze, needs some Noctua's to pair with!
Oh awesome! I just purchased this case last week. I attend a LAN party with friends about twice a year so the handle really appealed to me. Definitely a limited use case but it seems perfect for that.
Did you get the one with the PSU? If so did you get the special edition.. I was sent a special edition.
@@Killswitch1411 I went with no PSU as I wanted to get a 750 watt SFXL (eyeing the Lian Li). I did not get the special edition... I wish it was an option. I would have done it for that travel case.
Ah the ol b-roll of the fire. Laughs were had. Seriously keep doing that and the psu explosions lmao they make my day
Did you ever get around to testing the handle?
The colour scheme in the review looks insanely retro, looks kinda like speakers my grandparents had.
I hope you review more ITX cases in the future. Stuff gets interesting the smaller you go.
Hey how come there was no mention of the SSUPD meshlicious? I feel that’s the better alternative to the H1
I purchased the NZXT H1 case for 200 US yesterday.Good deal assuming Riser cable addressed?
I know it's hard to find a standardized way to review small form factor cases, but I would really like it if you managed it. I'm really interested in smaller PCs, and your methodical, almost scientific, credible reviews would be an amazing addition.
I actually like the black and bronze look on the front.
i had an H1, bought it, sold it, same day, made 100. I really like this design too.
