Cool, I look forward to seeing it. I'd just like to let you know my current thinking is that the diesel engine in the petrol chassis is very noisy without all the additional sound proofing. I'm thinking of tidying up my petrol and refitting it.

Should get much higher mpg now. The petrol ones were very thirsty.

Hi there, can you please show me how to get the top cover on the engine off, I have taken the 4 bolts out of the air intake, but the 4 rubber elbows don't want to come out, so I can't disconnect the bracket underneath on the right hand side as well as the air inlet pipe from the filter. I am hoping to do this job on this Saturday 9th July 2022

I do, it was next on the list for a tidy up but something else has popped up and bumped it down the list. I’d like to preserve it underneath the way I did the orange Kadett.

I've discovered a seriously bad wood rot issue along the back wall, looks as if i'm gonna have to remove the shower and wardrobe to fix it up...f$ck! haha
Another question, how much of a difference did you notice in mpg with the diesel to the petrol?
Hello, i am also from Ireland and have a 1987 fiat ducato, I would like to get the bodywork on the cab done but i don't know where to go with it, mainly for the pillars and wings, exact same shape as the talbot.... excellent videos by the way :)

Hi do you know if you can change a 1.9 to a 2.5 Talbot express are the gearbox compatible or do you need to get anew gearbox with a new engine and then can it be done thanks kev

Hi, thinking of going the other way as my 2.5d engine has blown and replacements are expensive and rare whereas the petrol engine is much cheaper and easier to get hold of. Any chance you can list out all the items you needed to change to complete the conversion? Cheers.
I'm actually thinking of going back myself. The van has been laying idle since we moved house and I want to give it a complete overhaul and body reconditioning. I'll be going through all the steps in video. There's not much to it really. Other than what's on the engine you need the ignition module and coil, give the fuel tank a good rinse through. I can't think of much else. I found damaged vacuum pipes on my petrol when I was taking it out. So with those replaced and maybe a replacement exhaust manifold it should run a lot better. There a more cities in europe that you can go into with a petrol than a diesel and they're a lot quieter.

But in England you can make such a change safely and legally? If it is done in Italy they would immediately put you in prison

Will you still be using your MK1 estate now that you have a purpose built camper?!
For trips where it's just me on my own, I may still camp in the Astra. I certainly will keep it as it fulfils many other practical uses for diy, shopping and recycling.
Fantastic, they are quite useful. I previously owned a 3 door estate. It went to Jon on the MK1 site who did all kinds of things with it!
Is the fuel pump manual?
It has a little manual primer at the filter.
