Me too, man! I wonder however why the squat jerk variation does even exist. It is probably way more difficult to execute than the split jerk. The extra stability required (as in a snatch) plus the additional squat (as opposed to a conventional clean and jerk) is simply insane. I could Google the answer but I rather posting it. :)
markux1983 The difficulty of the squat jerk entirely depends on flexibility. For flexible guys it's not that hard at all. The only disadvantage of a squat jerk is that it's much more difficult to rescue a lift from the bottom of the squat. However, it's also probably a lot more stable when driving up and out of the catch to a finishing position. So with the split jerk a lot of guys will catch the jerk, but lose it if they lose that core-tightness when standing. As long as the bar goes up dead straight, a squat jerk then offers a comparative advantage, but you need to have that flexibility to catch and ride the bar down. So more difficult? Yes. But there are advantages of the squat jerk for the flexible if well executed.
Dude the training hall videos are my favourite. watching the pros warm up is just magical. thanks for the posts.

I could watch Tian Tao lift weight all day and never be bored. That squat jerk is insane. This kid has the potential to be an all time great.
