My definition of doing an essay the day before it’s due is very different to Jacks. When I start an essay the day before I do everything the day before including all the research

I always do the research in like the first 2 weeks of getting the essay title because I'm all enthusiastic (and subconsciously my brain knows I need to do that to not fail 😂)
And then I write my essay the night before because I don't want good grades apparently 😂😂

joining a year late but same. i got the essay question at the end of november and it’s due today (4th february) i’m almost done now but i did research in the 5 days before. i really hate myself i guess 😭

I love this “last minute”-videos. I’m writing my bachelors thesis at the moment and have just 2 weeks left. Watching these videos in my break and I feel instantly better, because I’m not the only one who needs pressure to be productive. To everyone in the same situation: stay strong, we will get through this.

I finished writing my 20.000-word thesis at 4.30 am when I had to hand in a physical copy at 10 am. I'd say you did a damn good job submitting it 2 hours before the deadline.

the other day I was really struggling with procrastination during an essay and I just told myself "you know what, I'm giving myself half an hour and if its not done I'm giving up." and then somehow I finished the whole thing. That ultimatum was really helpful for some reason
That's great. I would've given up after that half hour. I'm pretty sure of it.
I told myself the same thing a few hours ago. Thought about giving up my bachelors thesis (because I have just 2 weeks left) and redo the whole thing next semester. I said to myself: write 5 pages before you go to sleep… and I’ve done it. This pages are not the best but a good base to work with. I feel so much better now and I know will finish my thesis in the next two weeks somehow. Fingers crossed. His “last minute”-videos keeping me motivated, because I’m not alone.

I found this channel this year, 2021, and watching these old videos with the whipped coffee from the beginning of quarantine has got me feeling way too nostalgic
I find it so fascinating that while you're about to finish your degree, I've just started my undergraduate this year. I know it's a pointless comparison, but for some reason, it's just interesting. A kind of "I'll get there eventually" mindset is going on for me

I struggle sometimes because none of my friends take it and seeing a fellow English student struggle with essay planning is so reassuring and i can’t thank him enough for these videos 🥺

This was a wonderful little break from the essay that is currently DRIVING ME INSANE and that is due in 48 hours. I have 800 of 1400 words written and not a single clue what I'm writing about but we're just winging it at this stage & hoping for the best 😂
I love watching these bc it's so opposite from the way I operate - my final assignment of 2nd year was 100% of my module, and I handed it in a full 4 days before the deadline 😂

It's crazy watching this now. I watched it originally in my second year of uni and again before writing my dissertation for my biomed undergrad. It's only fitting to be watching it again for motivation for my masters research project. 3:32 also this is so perfect for me lol, 4 hours of research and i was giving up hope then i found the one paper that was exactly what i needed to justify my research. Turns out my supervisor is currently doing the same research but only one group has published anything meaningful which is really great when my whole project is riding on the idea!

Do not fret! Once you start your masters you will get to write more essays...like me, literally sitting here trying to finish my final paper right now! I got two days and 3500 words to write, yayy!
I’m a literature student and my level of studies are no where near Jack’s because I’m still in junior college (Singapore’s level of education before university), but OOF, the physical reactions I have whenever Jack mentions names like Sylvia Plath and Muriel sparks *shivers*

Omg I'm writing a comparative essay as well, on two short stories we had to pick from a list and I chose 'The Dead' by Joyce and 'Odour of Chrysanthemums' by D.H. Lawrence! I'm having trouble formulating my ideas into a coherent whole though haha and the sample essays on my uni's platform made me worry about whether my English is academic/advanced enough! I just wanted to say a massive thank you for sharing your uni experience for the past 3 years with us. I'm from Durham but at uni in Sheffield so it was so nice to see clips of my home town and find out more about Durham uni life (you'd be surprised as to how little outsiders know about the uni haha). I'll be submitting my final essay next week and then starting my first year teaching in a primary school in September. Since you want to do some creative writing, I’d really recommend Branson Sanderson’s lectures (you can find them on his UA-cam channel and his books are great too!) on creative writing! They are really good and inspiring and I think that you would enjoy them a lot!
