You deserve more subs. You're easily one of my favorite channels because you're just a regular dude using a knife for regular things. I watch your videos for a real world review. Love it
Just found your channel (subbed :)) and wanted to thank you for being an everyday working man doing everyday working man things with your knife tests. I've worked every aspect of construction over nearly 40yrs on the job and to this day, THESE ARE THE THINGS WE ACTUALLY USE OUR KNIVES FOR!! Priceless applicable knowledge. Kudos to you!
Got mine yesterday and its even nicer in person! I paid 80 for the forged demascus and green aluminum scales version and i cant get iver how much i love it! Its better than a lot of my 200-300 dollar knives! Too teir knive for 60-80 bucks! Civivi earmed their place as my new favorite knive company with this one! They knocked it out of the park and its the only knife ive ever had NOTHING bad to say at all about! Its worth every penny and more! If youre on the fence about this knife, just get it! Youll absolutely love it and you can always return it if for some reason its not for you. Its a perfect size small knife for big hands and its a perfect medium sized knife for small hands. My gf and i have massively diff hands and we both love this knife!
After you sharpen it for the first time, itll hold an edge even better. That 1st after market sharpen really cleans it up and makes it a laser of an edge. Its hair cutting sharp right out of the case so all i did was strop it to clean it up and its holding like a champ. The heat treat is phenomenal and so is everything else so far
Very helpful video, my dude! :D Been thinking about getting one of these 'cos I liked the blade shape and the action, and now seeing how well they function, it's definitely on my list!
I am finally satisfied with my search for a full flat grind, 3-inch knife. The bottle opener is a great bonus, and I no longer need to carry my Swiss Army Knife with a bottle opener. This knife is excellent for slicing fruits, beef steak, and other food prep tasks.😊
Just the sort of testing I hoped to see. You got my sub. I got the S35 version a few days ago and can't put it down. I recently started my small collection and have a few more expensive knives but the ergos and sliceyness of this knife beat them all. Now I have to pick up a 14C28N version after seeing how well it performs too!
Thanks for this very helpful cut test. I also liked that you used different materials for it. Civivi lists the coated versions of this blade as having hrc of 57-59, whereas the uncoated versions are listed as having hrc of 58-60. So I am wondering whether the uncoated will do even better than the already stellar performance of your model.
Agree on Civivi doing a decent job on their 9cr. I don’t know about the price difference, but personally I prefer 14C28N if it’s heat treated properly (seems to have finer grain structure than 9cr, based on my admittedly subjective experience), which this cut test demonstrates.
When I mentioned 14C28n seeming to have a finer grain structure than 9cr, I was basing that on my own experience comparing a Sencut blade in 9cr with various 14C28N blades in my collection from Kershaw and Civivi. I was citing DD’s cut test only in the context of seeing an example in his Qubit of a properly heat treated 14C28N, and wasn’t inferring about grain structure based on his test. Sorry that in my haste I seemed to conflate the two separate notions. I don’t even quite know why I am fussing over 14C28N, since I have many PM blades (including magnacut) that range in cutting performance from decent to outstanding. Must be because DD made the Qubit look so tempting:-)
A good alternative for the rope might be heavy duty weed wacker cord ( talkin what you use on the biggest model Stihl offers). I’ve been knocking down a bunch of overgrown property and the only knife I’ve got that will go through that cord in one pass is the warny Spyderco Delica in K390 you convinced me to buy. That black plastic is slippery, tough, and requires an edge with good bite. Also if you felt that a single strand wasn’t weeding out the competition (wink wink) it is small enough that you can easily double up the strands to see if you can get through two in one pass. Added bonus is you can get real big spools of it for a reasonable price.
Yeah they’ve got a bunch of shapes, although this past week I was only cutting the heavy duty round. It’s like three times the thickness of what an electric Walmart wacker uses. It would be cool to see what is the hardest to cut, though so far the round stuff tends to just slide off my knives. That Delica really is a beast when it comes to getting through in one pull.
@@woodenpotter2483 ah okay. Well still, seems like it could be a good material to cut! I think my brother has some, I’ll try it out before I go buy a roll Thank you! 🤠
Thanx for the video as I couldn't decide on this knife or the sister company sencut arc blast I believe it's called but seeing this knife cut gotta go with quibit. Take it easy.
I believe the blades that are satin finished are ran a little harder. I’m getting mine reground to 3-4 thou behind the edge. It’s gonna be a mean slicing machine. And sharpening will be beyond easy. Another good thing about 14C is that it has 30ft lbs of toughness at 60hrc, which is pretty amazing for a stainless steel.
I was thinking about picking this up, but I already have a civivi conspirator in nitro-v and S35vn. For civivi, is 14c28n better or worse or just different than nitro-v? Thinking about waiting for one in a different handle material (micarta or G10), and maybe a better blade steel?
Totally agree with doody! I have this knife and it is worth every penny. I carry this over any knife in my Spyderco collection that should tell you something.
It reminds me of the TRM neutron. But then a budget version. Looks amazing. Getting mine tomorrow. My first civivi.. it was 78 euros i think thats a good price. Thanks as always you pushed me iver the edge to order 😂
@@doodysdaggers I love the look of that TRM NEUTRON you have but it's not easy to get one here in the Netherlands. So I can't wait for this one as a more budget friendly option. Thanks man 😉👊 Ps: the steel made me hesitate but your vid just showed not to worrie about it thanks man

Why are so many people complaining about aluminum handles? They work great. Certainly not a work knife but for edc & certainly a summer carry it’s fantastic.
@@tacticalcenter8658 They do wear easily but it’s a $60 knife & likely isn’t the sole knife they own. It’s very possible they make other versions later on as well.
I wanted a new knife. One that is cool that I could afford. This Qubit looks great. Nice blade shape. Seems to have great action. But I could not get over the bottle opener. I don't remember the last time I needed a bottle opener. What a waste. I really don't like that Civivi added something so silly and gimicky to such a cool knife. I ordered a titanium Pyrite instead.... If Civivi gets rid of the bottle opener, or makes a similar knife without the silliness I will buy one, but this one is not for me. . . Thanks for the good video. your other videos are good too. I clicked subscribe.
I have the same knife and I love it. Only nitpick I can say is ditch the bottle opener which really isn't a huge deal, but why on earth Civivi, didn't you just PVD coat the blade. I would have gladly paid 10-15 bucks more for PVD coated blade. More and more budget knife companies are getting away from blued finishes and using the PVD. Hopefully Civivi ends up implementing this in all future blades. It is a much better finish and doesn't come off when you cut cardboard and it really doesn't cost them that much more to coat it in PVD.
Heck yeah Doody . You would know a good slicer after doing all these cut tests 👍. When a blade cuts that good for me going back to a mediocre cutter is 👎 irritating
