Finally added the subtitles, after 3 months... I'll try to get the subtitles on as soon as possible in the future. I'm very glad to see that people have found this video helpful. I still haven't found a way to get the glue off the foam board. The answer is still out there....
If you want to cover the glue just buy a piece of contact paper at the dollar store (they usually have some prints or plain colors) and cut it to size to cover the glue. The magnetization will still work thru it. I tried some heavy chemicals to remove the glue previously and you either have to live with the glue or live with smears from the chemicals. However, i did notice that the sooner you remove the foam after you purchase a palette, the less glue (if any) it leaves. Older palettes left much more glue.
I left a comment yesterday about using contact paper to cover the glue marks. However I found something better. I was already doing this palette hack but your tip to use magnets really helped me w the process (where to cut), so I'm going to return the favor--today I was doing the old Element of Surprise palette and used Goo Gone to remove the glue residue. There was a lot and it cleaned up beautifully. I used it on a paper towel but might try a cotton ball next time as the paper towel absorbs a lot. I feel like I tried Goo Gone before (on the old old white 4 pan palettes u can turn into 10 pan palettes) and it didn't work but it's working now so give it a try! Goo Gone (NOT Good Off it's very harsh) & Citra Solv, work for sure but any glue or sticker solvent or orange based sticker solvent should work.
I have the Golden State of Mind palette that I want to depot. The magnet idea is genius. Use Goo Gone to remove excess glue. Worked for me on other palettes.
Waaaaaaw really really nice method and great jenous method and why you explain.. Don't stop gooooooo a head and continue I hope you get millions of subscribers 😍😍😍😍😍
Good job. Wow!!! I did the exact same thing long time ago with a Senna cosmetics palette. I didn't waste the palette, I just added the magnet a 30 mil thick it is strong the same as those palettes. If you guys are going to make your own palette Don't get the ones at Michaels or Joann's get them at ebay
Odeia M i think I'll go with a piece of nice glossy paper over it! I can't deal with waiting for that foam inner rim to dry every time I clean it with a liquid solution anymore. Thanks for the suggestion!
Your magnet method is brilliant ❤ 👍 Any damages of the palette, you can rearrange shadows your own way.
And very useful DYI.
Brilliant idea using the magnet to depot the shadows !

Thank you! I hope you have fun with curating your own palettes ❤ your baby kitty is soooo beautiful 💖
Magnet trick is genius!!!
Is removing the eyeshadows first necessary? Can I just cut first? I don’t have a magnet lol
Omg I love it.
Thank you for the video! I know this sounds weird, but you can try WD40 to remove the glue
Try goo be gone to get the glue off
That product is not available in Vietnam unfortunately. I’ve found some DIY recipes though, I’ll try that and get back to you.
to get rid of the glue try rubbing two-fazed water or just glue a paper to cover it
