    My favorite is the “limited edition tarteist pro custom magnetic palette” in the leopard print. It’s the most heavy duty one I’ve ever felt and is currently on sale for $12 on the tarte website. I no longer support the brand or shop from them but I do not regret buying it a few years ago. So good.

      Oh I looked at that one for a long time! I kinda hate buying directly from a brand's website (and I'm not keen on supporting Tarte either) but thanks for the info - $12 is a great price for a palette that size and quality.

      I ended up ordering one a couple of weeks ago. They were still offering free shipping and I had a discount code for it being my first order I bought a total of 2 empty palettes for under $20.

    I love the 12 and 24 pan colourpop empty magnetic palettes. When ever I make a purchase at colourpop I like to add one or two to my cart and I like how they change or add new prints. They are super slim and easy to store and line up nicely in my Alex drawers.

    I am absolutely kicking myself for not buying the clionadh magnetic palette on Jan 21st w my stained glass order, I think I might have to have to go back for it. (Shadows en route currently 😊 omg the wait has almost killed me and definitely bled my soul). As an atheist, I definitely don't go for a churchy vibe lol and was kinda thinking that maybe it was past my line, but it's just too gorgeous and I can't let my issues and preconceived notions deter me from appreciating art and beauty or that palette simply for what it is, that would be a shame and not a good look on me either. (Justification for palette purchase, done 😉)

    • @imperfectlyEm
      @imperfectlyEm  4 роки тому +3

      Ooof that's a beautiful palette. I love the whole stained glass aesthetic and I'm not religious. I felt iffy on the super large packaging but I think if you have a substantail amount of clionadh shadows, it's just a perfect pairing.

    Ps- if you ever do a follow up or future empty palette review mentioning the depth of the palettes is helpful (ie fits regular pans vs. domed pans...I have some domed milani or old baked LORAC & Laura geller shadows and and a ton of domed cheek products that only fit in very specific palettes)

    Ooohoohoh, from one single shadow obsessed to another, fun video! Totally agree w you on the adept palettes, I have three different styles and love the quality but wish they weren't so heavy and bulky. I haven't had any problems w the integrity of shadows as a direct result of the palettes I don't think, but I am super careful w them. Love the shop miss a's for their price and functionality although they are a little cheapy looking. I like to keep a few empty for use in depotting and reorganizing projects and such. I've had bad luck w the colourpop ones that I've purchased empty or w a curated single bundle, they all warp and bend and end up not being able to fully close, won't be buying any more of the empties for sure. For some reason I really have a weird dislike for palettes w clear lids in general, although I do have a slightly rose goldy one that is so pretty and looks gorg w the square embossed wet n wild highlighters/blushes in it. Haaaaate the makeup forever ones, even the hinged. Have a great day Emily and thanks for sharing! 🌈

    • @imperfectlyEm

      Thanks for the info across the board! Shop Miss A ones I like but they also do feel cheapy. I don't feel so bad if they get stained with shadows and stuff because they're so affordable. But Adept - I really can't wait for their new slim rectangular palettes. I'm so curious to see how heavy they are at this smaller size and if I find the size and format to be something I reach for. They're pricy but at the same time, I'm routing for them!

    I really like my Z-Palettes (have had them for a very, very long time) and I have the double sided palette from them and I have never had an issue with it, as it benefits from the gravity issue you talked about from the Adept one. I’ve had it for years and the format is similar to how RawBeautyKristi did her PUR Cosmetic collaboration. I also like Z-Palette’s are weighted and very good quality (despite their customer service fiasco and little... tirade). I don’t mind palette not having mirrors because I use an old vanity and I use a hand-held mirror. In fact, using palette mirrors give me weirdly gives me anxiety... it makes my eyes strain and feel weird...
    Anyways, thank you for the amazing video!

    LOVED THIS! 👌💜 I'm super into singles and creating my own color stories, so I'm always stockpiling magnetic palettes. I definitely agree that the $2 Make Up For Ever palettes are such a hidden gem at Sephora! They are so sturdy, and I can fit 7 standard shadows in the XL one so I love it for travel. Right now I have one that's a bronzer/contour shade, a highlight, and two eyeshadows that I use as blushes. It's like the world's smallest face palette and I freaking love it! 🙌 Funnily enough, my favorite palette I own is definitely the two sided Adept palette that you don't like. Lol! It's like home base storage where everything lives all safe and sound and then I just pull things from in there to build palettes. Best makeup collection investment I ever made! But I love that these days there's something for everybody since we all have such different preferences. 😊 The next magnetic palette on my wishlist is the Menagerie Cosmetics one with the little foxes on it. It's just too dang cute! 💙💚

    I have 2 of the Adept 2 sided palettes in the white marble. The style is a bit different than the one you have, but I LOVE them. I ended up depotting all of my ND palettes and combined with the singles I have, the two palettes hold everything perfectly, and I find myself using all of my shadows so much more.

    I was surprised, but I actually really liked the ABH magnetic palettes that they put out over the holiday. I ordered three of the glitter ones, and I've thought about picking up the rest (they were still available last time I checked, a couple of weeks ago). Right now I've got Lethal Cosmetics shadows in two of them (thanks to you and Theresa is Dead! lol) and the other one has Make Up For Ever and the Glitch palette shadows from Ofra….though I'm tempted to get that black croc palette from Adept to keep all of my Lethal shadows together. I never used to buy single shadows and I'm still sort of terrified of depotting anything that isn't magnetized, but I've been loving magnetic palettes....who am I?!

    • @imperfectlyEm
      @imperfectlyEm  4 роки тому

      Theresa stores all her Lethal in the black croc palette. It's such a high quality palette. And I love discovering brands that make magnetic palettes for packaging - Melt Cosmetics, Kaleidos, Colourpop, Natasha Denona, etc. You could depot and play with like singles and then use them as whole palettes too.

You should have seen my face when you told that story - I felt your agony. I'm so sorry. I love cats, I was raised with cats (and dogs) and what can you do?
    Two, have you tried Sydney Grace's empty palettes? They are my first and only empty palettes and I think they're great but that's compared with pre-filled palettes. I'd get more but they are doing their big sale and they're sold out of empty palettes, all sizes. Dammit.

    The thing with the double sided Adept that I hate is it is so freaking hard to get open. I have to use something to jimmy it open every time. I have all of my depotted Morphe in there and some have broken from the jarring when I have to force the stupid thing open. Why not put a latch or something on there? The MAC one I have is ok but I notice that unless you get the pro palette shadows the magnetic strength is not there. I have the MAC that comes in it's own little compact and when I depotted and put in there, they barely stuck, so then I had to put magnets on them. Why would MAC do that? So stupid. Magnetic compacts are ridiculous. My favorite so far is my big Sydney Grace palette and I may order more. I would like for all of mine to be the same size, with just few small ones for travel.
    Sorry for the long comment. I enjoyed this video!

    Hi , loved the video, soooo helpful ! I have just one question : in the MAC one (the large) how many singles can you fit without the insert ?

      It looks like it holds 24 of the "standard" 26mm pan but I don't know if adding magnetic tape to the bottom would affect that for any reason.

      @@imperfectlyEm Thanks a lot ! I added (glued down ) a magnetic sheet in one of mine (different brand) and worked wonderfully!

      @@CarolLoureiro-ew4vj where did you get your magnetic sheet? I did that with one of mine but I’m not crazy about the magnet.
