  • Here's my official VRT film of the very successful twilight fast taxy event held by The Vulcan Restoration Trust at London Southend Airport on May 18th 2024.
It's just over an hour long and is pretty comprehensive, with unique views from the top of XL426, inside the bomb bay and new for 2024, since we've now been able to replace the glass, a view from inside the bomb aimers window.
For those that don't want to spend time hunting down 'the howl', there's one veeeery long one at about 39 minutes and again for the fast taxy at about 49 minutes.
    Please enjoy!
    0:00 - Intro
    5:30 - Pushback
    18:30 - Engines Start
    33:17 - Taxy to Runway
40:00 - High Power Static Howl
49:30 - High Power Taxy and Braking Chute Deployment
    58:00 Arrival back at stand

WHAT A PLANE! and the massive respect for the pilots to show the restraint in not actually taking off lol. The howl takes me back to when I was a kid, never experienced anything like it. Awesome

Beautiful beast of the sky although its terribly noisy Had the privilege of being inside this giant bomber while on a.course at RAF Wyton in Cambridgeshire in the early 70s Really a beautiful bird and wish i could see it flying again

It will never be permitted to return to the air I'm afraid. It's a complex four engine jet that's well over 60 years old. None of the remaining Vulcans will ever fly again sadly.

I wonder how much fuel this exercise burns (amount and cost)?

At tick over or idle power XL426 costs £40min... This goes up to £400/min when all 4 engines are on full power. 😳 This is one of the reasons none of the engineers are paid, they all prefer to hear her sing. 😍

@@JibzTV-Aeroviewz so somewhere in the £1600 to £2000 range. Money well spent for the howl just a pity she can't spread her wings.
