- Hear the Vulcan noise from XL426 at Southend Airport on 27th August 2022.
Vulcan XL426 is owned and maintained by the Vulcan Restoration Trust at London Southend Airport.
On 27th August 2022, they had a special high power taxi run to celebrate it's 60th anniversary (it's first flight was on 23rd August 1962 from Woodford Aerodrome).
This video shows the Vulcan taxiing to the threshold of runway 05 at Southend Airport and the Vulcan howl as she starts her high power taxi run.

If ever there was a plane that deserved to fly !
Thanks for watching. Yes - I completely agree!
The best military plane ever built 👌
Yes - I agree!
Nothing like teasing the old girl eh! Get yer coat love we're going out, no not really it's back to the hanger for you! Stunning to see and hear and sad to not see it where it belongs
Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment. Yes - it would be good to see them up in the air again but sadly I doubt that it will ever happen.
In 1960 I was taken by my elder brother to the RAF Gaydon ‘At Home’ air show and three Vulcans did a flight take-off. Even now I can remember the noise and feeling of the ground rumbling like a massive thunder storm - very appropriate for the Vulcan.
Thanks for watching. I have never seen more than one Vulcan take off and as you say the noise / rumbling is tremendous. I can only imagine what three Vulcans taking off would have been like.
Get em back in service true british show of force
Thanks for watching!
You could almost believe its still an aircraft in service watching this! Kinda like the B52s - old but keep going
Thanks for watching - yes if only a Vulcan would fly again!
I seen this airplane 3 different times at shows! It make you crap your pants with the Howle it makes! It goes through your soul! What a amazing beautiful airplane!
Thanks for watching. Yes - they certainly are loud and as you say you can feel it it as well as see / hear it.
I dont know why this is in my recommended but that's pretty cool man
Thanks for watching and thanks for the kind comment!
Gorgeous aircraft

Incredible ,she was screaming " pull back on the stick" awesome .
Thanks for watching. Yes - if only it were possible...
Sounds awesome from that angle :)
Thanks - yes I think you can get closer to the spool up when the high power taxi run is on 05 rather than 23.
OMG love this noise 😍
Thanks for watching. Yes - totally agree!
Thunderbirds are go love it
Thanks for watching - International Rescue!
Jet of the 50’s here 😍
Thanks for watching! Yes I agree though this particular aircraft first flew in 1962.
Beautiful machine ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for watching. Yes - it certainly is!
When it takes off the ground shakes. Appropriately named "Vulcan".

Thanks for watching and thanks for the kind comment.
Bangladeshi air 🇧🇩❤️❤️
A plane that was ahead of it's time
Thanks for watching. Yes -- I completely agree.
@@georgesjourneys9007 and still turning heads
@@johnancill7397Yes - there is always a good crowd turns up when XL426 does its high power taxi runs.
Quite - Imagine that when it 1st turned up at an air show, and then barrel rolled......
@@Ralnon Yes - happy memories.
Spent many hours working on it when in sevice. 76 to 79
Thanks for watching. 👍
The biggest one converts fuel into noise
They should have a squadron of these in reserve...But that's just me :)
Thanks for watching!
The UK should have an Air National Guard just like the USA. V bomber force , Vulcans supported by Victor tankers.
Woodfords finest 🙂
Thanks for watching.

Thanks for watching!
Sorry but that's engine noise not howl.
The howl is resonance which comes out of the intakes at high power, so you have to be standing in front of the aircraft to hear it, and this vid, lovely though it is, doesn't have the howl.
Is 558 the one at Wellesbourne?
Thanks for watching. XM655 is the one at Wellesbourne. XH558 is at Doncaste Sheffield Airport.
@@georgesjourneys9007, oh right thank you.
Avro Arrow ?
Avro Vulcan
That’s not the howl? Fantastic anyway. The howl is when it’s flying and it almost screeches along with the engine noise. What a plane and what a great experience for you.
Thanks for watching!
Great to see more than just 558 doing the taxi runs… be great if they could get all the surviving Vulcans into one place I,amine that ?
Thanks for watching. Yes - that woud be great. I hear that XH558 will be leaving Doncaster Sheffield Airport in 2023 as the airport is closing.
such a pity xl426 and xh558 are not air worthy just think of the howl from the two together it would be awesome such a shame
Yes - agreed. I remember when Vulcans used to display at the various airshows (including Southend!) but didn't really appreciate them as much as I do now.
As far as I’m aware, they are, certainly 558 anyway. I am certain it was whilst it was at Doncaster, but it’s the huge cost of the insurance to fly it that is main obstacle, and lack of funds.
On a slightly different topic, I believe that 558 will have to move from Doncaster by June of next year as the airport is facing closure.
@@dryflyman7121 When I make my first Billion, I'll fix that 🤣
I couldn't hear the Vulcan because of the traffic noise. (only jokin')
Oh boy how fabulous to have a squadron scramble heading off to obliterate Putin in the Kremlin.
Does Star Trek Spock fly a Vulcan He he. God bless.
Ha Ha - thanks for watching!
