- Runi-centric music video that gets deeper in between the lines shown in the comic. While Nero is maybe the easier pick as the loud main character, Runi is my baby and she's full of quiet things. The song fit her so well I couldn't help it.
This project gave me a lot of trouble and I'm very disappointed I couldn't add effects to it, but I'm beat, I never want to see this again hahaha...,.

I could NOT agree more! I never see many deer OCs, but ones I do see are just phenomenal - ratt's has to be the best by far! Their style just suits them so well, ugh... made me remember how much I like deer 🥰

I love your art style, it’s almost Disney-esque with your own special twists, and the expressions and anatomy are so good! Amazing work :D

Look bud, I'm a touch drunk, but I've loved your comic for a while. I hardly see common wildlife so dearly (deerly?) represented in an anthropomorphic yet grounded manner. It makes me happy to see. I love deer, and your story evokes the same feelings I got as a little girl reading Warriors. I sincerely hope you see this comic to the end, and I'll be hanging on each page to the end. Gushy, yes, but again I appreciate you and your comic. This is absolutely beautiful! I can't express in words how much I enjoyed this. It's just so soft and feels like a warm hug. I've been following your comic for a couple years now and I've come to love these characters very much. And to get a glimpse into Runi, her childhood, her dreams, her thoughts- it was lovely. Such a wonderful song and emotional music video!

YESSSS!! I wouldn't have known this amazing animatic existed if the UA-cam algorithm didn't throw it at me. I'm so glad it did omfg, I love GS and have been following for several years, since just before the first arc ended. I've always thought that Runi and Nero were equal main characters, or even that Runi was the main character and Nero was her driving force, until Nero was visited by Karuna (I'm so sorry I can't remember his name LMAO, it was corona then COVID came and now I'm sitting here going FUCK ITS KARUNA NOW RIGHT? I THINK?) and then I thought Nero must've actually been the MC and Runi somewhat his foil.

1:37 god you can’t just DO that to someone, That’s one of the hardest hitting and most unexpected scenes I’ve ever seen in an animatic. Genuinely these characters are all so expressive, well designed and deserve happiness :,)

After watching this almost everytime it popped up in my recommendations I finally got around to reading Golden Shrike, and GOD It's brilliant!! I'm disappointed in myself for not reading it sooner because it totally scratches every itch in my silly brain
Same thing here! I absolutely loved this video but never knew there was a comic, after reading it I decided to come back and wow it's incredible!
This was so stunning. I adore Runis character, but more so, I love that shes portrayed with such a heavy wanderlust yet an insecurity to leave her norm and her past
The visuals with Riptail and Cutlass accompaning the three? Absolutely stunning. I love how theyre looking at the trio as it leaves. All of this was gorgeous, man
After finally reading the comic, the AMV has so much more emotional weight to it with the added context of the comic. Like Nero said, Runi always had a drive for adventure and it’s demonstrated beautifully in the AMV. Dorus cares deeply for his children and it’s great to see that more fleshed out. Dorus taking Runi down from the high rock is so sweet. This AMV is amazing and I hope we see more AMVs that focus on other characters perspectives.
I can't help but wonder if there's a little more meta symbolism to the shot of Riptail and Cutlass proudly watching the main trio run towards the horizon--I'm aware those two were the early roleplay characters that got you creating deer characters in the first place. It's very moving to imagine them proudly ushering this grand new story forward from their own humble beginnings.
This comic is so deep....it really is Nero and Runi...really great characters...cutlass personally is my fav him being stoncrovn and all....and I majorly agree with you-

I accidentally came across this video and was immediately completely enraptured by the beauty of your art and the uniqueness of your characters. I then immediately read your entire comic in one sitting.
I am someone that craves well done animal comics- never have I ever seen a deer comic, it’s hard enough to find good animal comics- but I was immediately drawn into your world and completely and utterly infatuated with every character you presented. The world building has me addicted.
The world you have built has swept me up and I will read your comic until the very last page.
It reminds me of the movie "Spirit" and "Bambi," which creates such a beautiful and heartfelt film. Being able to convey such emotions is very talented. Great job!
i binged the entire comic in the span of two hours after i saw this the first time, and now i find myself coming back several times a day. this is easily one of my favorite videos on here!! your art is so warm and pleasant and you know just how to manipulate that to pull at heart strings. amazing work as always!
I literally just finished binging the comic because of this video! I can't put my finger on what the nuances are that make the characters so loveable (especially since it's a very fast pace comic), but I already care about them and their stories so much. My only big disappointment was that it's so new there isn't more content yet!

WAAAAAAH RATT THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL!!!! i loved seeing everything in this runi, especially with the shot of little her on the rock with her parents trying to get her to come down. it really seemed like she wanted to stay more than she wanted to go, being so high up. its such a nice little thing that really has me thinking shes been wanting to be free for so long, but her herd has always discouraged this kind of thinking (especially the example with nero and the sire). amazing art as always, thank you so much for sharing this with us!
Whoa, I was so excited to see a Golden Shrike music video pop up in my recommended! It's so beautiful, I can't imagine how long it must have taken to draw. I love baby Runi and Nero, especially in that scene where their dad takes her down from the rock; their expressions are adorable. And it's nice to be able to see Hovus and Biro again, too, their childhood. Amazing work overall!

The story is so well crafted, and creates such a strong emotional impact despite having no spoken or written dialogue. The art is amazing, the characters are full of personality, and the backgrounds are wonderful at representing the feelings that each scene took on. Kudos to you ! ! This was a beautiful experience, so glad this got recommended to me.
It's a webcomic actually!! Check the description for the links, you won't be disappointed at all. This animatic was incredible to me as a comic-reader already, you didn't need any knowledge of the comic to follow it but the comic gives SO MUCH context to this (and honestly vice versa, we don't see much of Runi's thoughts written [or sung lol] out, it's all written on her face until she starts changing/getting some heavy development).

I'm not gonna say much on the plot so far in case you wanna go and read it, but theres some shenanigans with the god(s) of this world and the different deer herds across the world. I really recommend it its an awesome comic
As the saying goes “a painting/picture is worth a thousand words” and so are very well crafted stories,comics,videos etc with such strong emotional impacts
I adore this and the comic. I think honestly you've probably created something I would consider comfort media. The art style is just so soothing and something about the story and the characters makes me feel safe and at home. You can tell how much love was put into the project

I have never seen this comic before or the characters but this really drew out an emotional reaction in me. The storytelling, the art, the music, all of it is done so well and complements each other to create such a stunning product. This is amazing
Every time I watch this I can't help but cry. The song mixed with the straight up godly animation makes me dream of being able to be this happy little deer running free in the forest. I just want to thank the creator for making something that can free me from the stress of life if only for 3 minutes and 5 seconds.

Ngl, and this is going to sound cheesy af, but I feel like I was meant to find this. I finally reconnected with my brother who I haven't spoken to in a long time and able to show him I was able to break free of their influence. I feel like, after a little awkwardness we connected amazingly and I am still in awe of how much I grew up to be like him, even tho we were thousands of miles apart with no contact. I think of him, and worry about him, all the time, and when she ran off with her brother, I felt like that was me, finally being able to meet my brother as a full person, free from stuff holding me back. I don't know your comic but I am going to read it now!

I first watched this video when it had just come out, I think. This last winter, on a bitter cold night waiting for a bus, I read the whole comic in one sitting and fell in love. I remembered the PMV just today, rewatched it, and now it's got me in tears. It's really, really beautiful. I fell in love with Runi's character ages ago and I feel like I love her even more now. The video and song so perfectly fit her thoughtful, philosophical character.
I also loved the way you transformed the song. I have it in my playlists because it's beautiful, but I listen to it very rarely because its topic of life and leaving it after a long, happy lifetime always make me cry. Now I'm crying for a different reason-- she's leaving life behind and springing into a new one full of adventure, where she can see the world and find her destiny.
I can't wait to see where her journey leads her next. I sure hope it's somewhere happy.

This is absolutely phenomenal. It was very emotional and you could really feel the emotions as if you were Runi 💙 The characters and the background and everything was just stunning.

For once I can truthfully say that I cried through at least one part of this. And don't take that lightly. There's few books or comics in the world that have ever managed to make me absorbed enough to provoke much emotion, I held my breath looking through those panels. I can't believe I'm only just now seeing this, but I can't wait for what comes next.
On a side note, its always refreshing to see works like this centered around the more underrated animals. As much as I love my canines and felines, there's so much content for them that other works like this get drowned out. Hope your comic continues to get the recognition it deserves, well done!
