I couldn’t pull one of those off but, I’m very glad they exist. You have to admit, if you ran into someone wearing that at a bar, you are gonna talk to them!
I totally agree with your point about it being static in real time. It's a very interesting concept and cool design, yet the novelty wears off quickly. Imo if the globe compass pointer was geared to be the second "hand" instead of it being the hour, it would start far more conversations than I'm sure it already does. The way it would catch the light as it spins every 60 seconds would be pretty neat if you ask me. I also realize the globe is probably too heavy to be the second "hand". Although in my head I'm thinking, maybe if you throw in some extra gears and a bigger mainspring it could be possible. Obviously I'm not a watchmaker, either way, it's a cool watch.
I like this...as art, not as a watch. I admire the talent it took to conceive and create this and when I make my first billion Ima have one. Thanks for an interesting review.
There is a blue one already, though I imagine it's just a stainless steel case, not sure about the dial material. I like your idea, for the price, your suggestions would be appropriate. 👍
I think the original had a Titanium and a Steel version. No idea what the dial is made of. Although if they really wanted to push the environmental side of their message, they probably should have looked at recycled ocean plastic. Done a bio-cermaic thing like swatch. Plus that would have dropped the price.
It's a very nice piece. I'm not sure how it would fit into my collection though. What on earth you would wear with a watch like that is tricky too. For that kind of money, I would be looking at Longines.
Well, you can remove links just like a regular bracelet. Although just like a regular bracelet there is a limit to that as well. Sometimes the companies will list a range of sizes their bracelets fit.
It's not for me but I do fully understand why people like it. It's certainly different, more jewelry on the wrist rather than watch. I'm not surprised it won an award though. The lug design is very reminiscent of how Seiko do it with the Turtle.
Oh yes, the flying saucer... in gold, pricewise too! As (almost...) all CIGAs, a pass, other than the... packaging! Thanks Shane, be well mate, cheers. PS Steel, titanium, silver, ceramic, gold... what's next? bronze with enamel i guess... 🤪[copy of my comment in another review of this]
Great review as always Shane. I don't have this gilded version, but I do have the standard one. That bracelet looks really nice. It's a shame about that issue with the quick release though. As you said it's definitely an oversight that should never have made it to production on a watch of this price.
I really like the original Blue Planet version, this gold version is cool as well. The price, on the other hand, is too much for me. 😭Hopefully someone will make an homage of this for $100! I have an "Earth, Sun, Moon" watch I bought for $30 off of Amazon last year, which is nice and unique and gets a lot of compliments from people. So that will have to do until I'm able to get a lot more money! Great review! Thank you!
Well if there is one thing I've learned over the last 5 years, it's that there is no such thing as a completely free watch. Just like with lunch. Not only do I spend quite a bit of time making the review, but if the promotional tag is up, then that watch is also considered income by uncle same. And Uncle Sam always wants his cut every quarter. So I never pick watches because it's a freebie, but because I think there is something interesting about it.
Its a very cool watch its just unfortunately not made for the NA market. They have a huge canvas there and I don't think it would take much to change it, I'm not sure what they're waiting on.
As a science teacher, the original Blue Planet was always an intriguing buy, but I could never afford it! THIS watch does NOT help the situation, haha. Great review regardless. GL with your collection shrink!
I'm very curious, and hopefully, I'll get a chance to see it. It's going to be a less expensive version of the original, which is probably a good thing. The Miyota movement will make it more accessible, and thinner. Hopefully, the lume is just as good too. The only thing I'm disappointed in is no bracelet.
@@RelativeTime I orderd one right away but I did have the same thoughts. I do hope it the same lume as the first one and it should have come with a braclet or at least have a option for it when buying one.
Hi Shane as usual top review , the watch , or watches that Ciga have produced on this occasion are very good looking , you could say strking , but not for me . I totally get what they are doing , but it just leaves me cold . I dont want to feel that way but i do . Any way all the best from the U.K.
Right now I have no plans to sell it. I think you can still get them direct from ciga. Although you can also email me. If I ever change my mind I'll let you know.
@@macakucizmama831 I'm not sure. They they're kind of an interesting brand. Some of their watches are much more reasonably priced. But this one with the full ceramic seems a little crazy

Dang that:s a nice lightsaber!
Whew...all caught up. Hats off to CIGA for doubling-down on the crazy. Definitely not for me, but I'm glad that it exists.
Good review. Unique watch. Would be great in a 50's sci fi film.

Thanks for watching!
How about a Blue Planet with a deeper blue enamel ocean and white gold with a matching ceramic? At 2K, this is luxury watch territory.

1899? They are out of their minds!!
Thanks for the video. My wrist is smaller, would I be able to shorten the ceramic strap?

I didn't show the packaging, but it is pretty cool. Looks like a book.
Are they still doing a choice of Northern AND a Southern Hemisphere version?
I don't think so. I think it's just this version of the dial.

Thanks. It's definetly an intersting watch.
@@RelativeTime Do you still have the other version as well?
Not at all something I would wear, but I like this version a lot more than the blue and silver model.

That’s enough for me of these micro freebees you’d never spend your own money on

I think that's something I mentioned in the last one. Have a Western Hemisphere version as another varient.

If you're still interested in getting one, I'm actually selling mine for a pretty good price on my website. The link to it is on my UA-cam channel.
Is it good on an investment bases

Well I've pulled out 40 to get rid of. So that's a start.

Indian ocean centric?
It is not particularly beautiful, but looks different in a sea of similarities
It's definetly interesting. I just wish it didn't cost as much.
