The problem is they will replace c-suite with equally terrible vapid business people who will continue to funnel money into their own pockets by feeding themselves tons of free stock. Every public company acts like a banana republic printing money to shift the wealth away from existing holders. They keep issuing stock to execs who take tax free loans against them.
If the stock price goes up, the execs don't have to sell off stock to cover loan interest. This is why nearly every CEO is a joke and why they all will drive a company into bankruptcy to try to keep the stock up higher a little longer. They want the companies to fail fast, because if a quick bankruptcy happens, they get their golden parachute which gives them a ton of money while the bank eats the stock losses.
It won't end unless we ban stock ownership by execs and board members. These people need to be employees that can be fired, not owners who can do anything they want. Eisner at disney can never be fired because he paid himself tons of free stock so he would be the largest shareholder. Boeing killed people due to CEOs cutting corners to try to keep the stock price up. There is no reason for any of this. The biggest scam of our generation was steve jobs inventing the 1 dollar salary with boat loads of stock they can loan against tax free. It has created oligarchies.

The problem with autonomous driving is that no one that I have heard yet has set a benchmark for what constitutes 'good enough'. Should the goal be perfect, or just x% better than human drivers? And, if x%, then what percentage? Trying to reach perfection will get into a 'Perfection is the Enemy of Progress' situation.

Canoo needs more than money. They need a partner that knows how to mass produce electric vehicles in highly automated factories. Maybe Foxconn or Magna Steyr. Even CATL could be a possibility if the deal were structured to avoid tariffs and sanctions (and media headlines). If Canoo chooses to continue on their own, they will likely have to charge much more for their vehicles until they can achieve their planned higher levels of factory automation. Even Tesla wasn't profitable before they bought Grohmann Engineering GmBH, now Tesla Automation GmBH.

They should be bringing out decent EVs to be competitive as the world transitions away from fossil fuels. Instead they're longing for the long gone old days, and digging everyone into a deeper hole.
The cost of climate change impacts, to individual consumers, is going to dwarf the cost of new EVs, by orders of magnitude.

Hope the Autoline organization/team has a wonderful break.
I also hope someday you guys produce long shelf life content that can be released when you are on break, so your consumers continue to have content even when if you are on break.
Examples of content to create would be to do extended questions or topics when doing After Hours shows. Keep your normal one hour show, but then do another 15 minutes in another area, set it aside and when you get to a holiday break, you can set those to post each one as a stand alone episode or combine three of them for a 45 minute episode.
Another possible episode could be Sean and/or John road trips. Visit industry friends, maybe team up with channels like Out-of-Spec, and just have general chats or less time sensitive topics. I am sure at some of these media events put on by manufacturers, you could meet up with other journalists or get executives to do a twenty minute drive around and chat video that could be posted later.
You guys can figure it out. As a longtime viewer of Autoline, I do value your content and hope to get more content even when you guys are on holiday. Selfish, yes, but it could help grow your channel.
    Enjoy your break.

Maybe the top brass in the auto industry should do something called check sharing that means if the average worker is making $50,000 and the average CEO is making that much in one day then they need to take a portion of the CEOs check and give it to the workers to help them live better.. or here’s a thought maybe if the CEO and all of the top brass took a pay cut the company might be more profitable

Canon seems to lack real innovation. It was different looking, but real technological innovation was not there.
It felt like the investors they had were hoping the EV hype train would make Canoo rocket to the moon stock price wise.

  • @TEC_Stuff
    @TEC_Stuff Місяць тому

VW needs to improve its quality and get rid of its EV push. No one wants to support an entire industry going in the wrong direction, and one just laughing at its customers. Consumers need to push back and say no. No more Electric Vehicle mandates, and no more pushing unnecessary features that increase costs. RAM had better bring back the Hemi engine, and put a dipstick in their Hurricane. While they are at it, get rid of Plug-in hybrid Wranglers that spontaneously combust while inside your garage. People want internal combustion engines, not Electric Vehicles.

A car is more than just looks, screens and connectivity. There are other aspects such as attention to detail around the edges, finishing materials, long term durability, crash survivability handling and refinement where Chinese are yet to prove themselves. At it's most basic, a car is just an a-b box or egg as they are now shaped. We need to get back to basics given the spiralling costs and as consumers be accepting and less critical of manual controls and bring your own infotainment solutions. Either that or stop complaining about prices, factory closures or reliance on other nations.

I'd really have hoped that the Walton heir who invested in Canoo would personally have tried to become the new Elon Musk in some much as he can drag a business empire into the future by hook or by crook. And with so many stores worldwide to offer the vehicle out of for sales, lease or rentals that could have been the perfect paring of the two businesses. To not have an EV business out of the largest retail chain on earth seems foolish especially when most locations have traditionally had a full-service automotive department, at least here in Canada...

The hemi is an outdated engine. I'm not at all sad it was killed. However they could have invested in a new efficient V8 that could have been used at many of their brands. But like ghosn did to Nissan his protege starved the companies all together without thinking forward except about his undeserved pay plan.
