I remember those jumps Evel used to do. They were always broadcast live on ABC’s Wide World of Sports on Saturday afternoons. It would be a couple hours of build up and then he’d finally do the jump. Then we’d go outside and build ramps out of whatever we could find and pretend to be Evel on our bicycles.
I got mine for Christmas, but it was gyroscope powered, and made in Japan. He ended up his career by getting ripped- off by his own manager/ promoter. Evel was convicted, and served a couple years for his savage baseball-bat attack on his own manager that left the guy comatose; just barely hanging on. Knievel confessed, of course
Greatest movie you ever made! Evel Knievel at that time was big as Elvis in the 70s! My whole life, I can still recall the jail scene! We got Knievel an awful knawful! God, I miss those days
Evel gave his approval to George to produce the movie after George read the script to him (per George's telling in a documentary about Evel), then wound up saying he hated it. At least Robbie got to jump a section of the Grand Canyon on a motorcycle before he died, too. Father/Son buried side by side...
I saw this in the theater in June ,1971 it had only been out in our area a few weeks . It’s a part of a ( then) 6 year olds anatomy . I got bruised , beat up , thrown over handle bars a bunch as a “ professional” bicyclist daredevil ! Anybody know who did the main musical theme “ I do what I please”? It almost sounds like Joe Cocker . ❤😊
I had a huffy bicycle it was heavy, i jumped on it .the farthest i jumped was twenty three feet,,i had so much fun back then,i got alot of good memories. Evel kinevel will always be a hero to me even now,,
That sequence starting at 1:21 when it goes into slow mo and the engine revs in Slow motion is badddd assss still to this day!!! The ending is bad ass too when he my death will be glorious and the horn sounds spanning the Grand Canyon...love it!!
I saw this on "Friday Night Movie" Maybe 1974, so I was 12 at the time. Also saw him as a guest on the late show, mother let me stay up on a school night, if I washed the dishes. Always drawing pictures of motorcycles, and the common "ape-hanger" handlebars on every kids bicycle(with banana seat) suddenly switched over to motocross style with a decorative gas tank.
I didn't realize when I saw this movie as a kid that it's a black comedy. George Hamilton gives a somewhat rounded performance portraying a man who had a two-dimensional personality. No wonder the real Evel didn't like it.
If you weren't a kid when this aired you really don't get just how cool this movie is.
So true, so true, so true !!!!!
It’s been repeated over the years to several generations

Our ramp was called Suicide and yea everybody wanted to be Evel. He didnt just popularize motorcycles he popularized bmx bikes
I did a somersault over the handlebars in 83 🎉🎉 Yup because of Evel
Same!
Saw this on TV, when I was a kid. Even had a toy. Windup motorcycle that shot across the floor and did stunts.
Krazy dude until the day he died.
🤙✌
Ha ha yeah I had the same toy.
@@elgato894I checked. Initial release was in 1973, and it sold for a few years.
It was the stunt cycle.
A lot of fun.

I one also! That dude was crazy always out of action after each stunt for like 2 years.

I had an Evel action figure when I was a kid, complete with motorcycle. Wish I still had it.
Yes I had one also the wind up part was red and he had a helmet on hours of fun
Awesome 👍

I remember seeing this at the Drive In back in 1971 I was 7 years old and it had left an impression on me that has lasted a lifetime!
So cool = Evel Knievel
What I love about the 70s are the 3 extremely different phases. It had a 60s phase, 70s phase and 80s phase.
yes, a decade in other words
Born in 58 ...60's 70's 80's , oh yes😅😊😊😊
I remember watching this with my friends in the early 70s. It was so cool!
Thank you so much!:
Thank you, this is the highest quality of this film I could find

When I was a kid, Evel Knievel was my hero. I loved to watch him when he jumped. I was just amazed and ah struck.
I've just watched the pre-credit scene. So fucking cool. That's the type of cool that we will never see again.

You've got to be "hacking" kidding me! I have been looking for this movie for decades! I watched it in the cinema in Greece around 1977.

I have never seen a good print of this movie on VHS or even DVD. They need to clean it up and restore it.
I saw this as a kid and thought it was the coolest thing next to Batman!!!
I remember watching Evil Kneivil jump Snake River on t.v. when I was a little kid. Spoiler alert... he crashed.
If you watched his documentary about that everyone knew in advance it would fail but TV forced him.
Concentricvoid ~ Yeah,
Evil Kneivil was Just the same spelling I remember .
it’s Always been Evil Not Evel .
Check out the Mandela effected version
@@jamesguy1030ignorance is bliss.😂
I remember this (the ending was particularly memorable showing the Snake River Canyon).
Thank you!!

Sun tanned Drac as Knievel? 🚲 Seriously? Better choice: Bruce Dern. 🚀

George and Sue look good together. Fantastic interplay.
LQ Jones
Liam Neeson wouldve been a good choice around the time he did Next of Kin.

I never understood WHY George took this role. Lol
Hi
Which accident ended his life?
Old age
👍!
"The pulse is slowing down, the heartbeat is good" makes no sense !
Because a slower heartbeat means a stronger heart. Football players have 60 - 70 bpm. A rapid, really fast heartbeat is tachycardia. Not good.
They gave the role to George Hamilton because Don Knotts wasn't available.

This film is bullsh_t brah 🤨
It's Evil, not Evel wtf?
Robert Craig Knievel, known professionally as Evel Knievel,
При чем тут Колумб и другие ?Там все оправдано! Ну а эти прыжки к чему???
