Am I the only one who thinks Star Wars: The Force Awakens is ridiculously overrated? Don't get me wrong, it was a good film. HOWEVER, the reality is people enjoy it so much purely because of nostalgia; if it wasn't for the first three films being so successful then this would be another sci-fi movie full of plot holes and cliche's. It's practically the same story as Episode 4 but with updated CGI and a clear reliance on hype trains. Good film, but not deserving of the term "classic".
+SkipperPlaysTW It's NOT overrated. Do you realize how many people (in the comments at least) are hating on it because the plot borrows elements from Episode IV? To me it wasn't even a flaw and somewhat necessary. Force Awakens existed to get a new generation into Star Wars, and it tried to use some familiar elements. Episodes VIII and IX will be completely original material. I'd rather take familiar stuff with great acting of Episode VII than the unfamiliar stuff with terrible acting of the Prequels.

It is absolutely a modern day classic and is in the conversation for greatest action film of all time. I might even make a case for it being better than the Road Warrior.

I cannot stand all-female movies. They're embarrassing and cringeworthy, all of them, except for Bridesmaids. Credit where it's due, it's actually a very good movie in my opinion, and really funny if you give it a chance. It's the only all-female movie I've ever liked, and most likely ever will!!

If you think Fury Road is shitty because "it has no story" then you straight up just don't understand visual storytelling. Not every movie requires Chris Nolan levels of exposition. Also, Frozen is by no means a great movie but it's going to be remembered for a long time to come. Cinderella isn't that good either, but it's added so much to popular culture it could still be considered a classic.

Except that's not objective, that's highly subjective. Especially when the snowman helped save the protagonist on multiple occasions and was symbolising a relationship between the sisters. Objective metrics are plot holes and animation errors. Frozen has no plot holes and very few continuity errors, that would definitely put it in a ranking of objectively great movies.

La La Land not even an honorable mention? It just about singlehandedly revived the old-time movie musical genre, plus the score and cinematography are incredible! (Not to mention it tied for the most Oscar nominations ever.) How on Earth is that not an all-time classic?
I really believe that Nolan's Interstellar is missinf from this list. It is a poignant beautifully made film, The photography is exquisite and the music score is superb. It also helps (a lot) a tonne of great acting by everyone involved.
When it comes to Django Unchained, it always bothers me that everyone forgets poor Christoph Waltz. While Leo was undoubtedly amazing, Waltz just owned that movie and was one of the best things about it.
The only reasons why people have not forgotten about them already is because 1. They hated them and it is hard to forget something you hate sometimes, and 2. The Mandalorian

Those are all great movies, but just being a great movie doesn't mean it will become a classic. I don't see them becoming classics that the majority of the population will continue watching in the coming decades.

I cannot stand all-female movies. They're embarrassing and cringeworthy, all of them, except for Bridesmaids. Credit where it's due, it's actually a very good movie in my opinion, and really funny if you give it a chance. It's the only all-female movie I've ever liked, and most likely ever will!!

If you think Fury Road is shitty because "it has no story" then you straight up just don't understand visual storytelling. Not every movie requires Chris Nolan levels of exposition.
Also, Frozen is by no means a great movie but it's going to be remembered for a long time to come. Cinderella isn't that good either, but it's added so much to popular culture it could still be considered a classic.

Except that's not objective, that's highly subjective. Especially when the snowman helped save the protagonist on multiple occasions and was symbolising a relationship between the sisters. Objective metrics are plot holes and animation errors. Frozen has no plot holes and very few continuity errors, that would definitely put it in a ranking of objectively great movies.

I really believe that Nolan's Interstellar is missinf from this list. It is a poignant beautifully made film, The photography is exquisite and the music score is superb. It also helps (a lot) a tonne of great acting by everyone involved.

When it comes to Django Unchained, it always bothers me that everyone forgets poor Christoph Waltz. While Leo was undoubtedly amazing, Waltz just owned that movie and was one of the best things about it.

Proper science is meaningless if the film it inhabits isn't great. 2001 was a technological achievement in film and was masterfully crafted. Interstellar is a decent sci-fi film with good ideas, but it never lives up to its potential and it sort of falls apart at the end.
