Thank you for these super videos! I am planning my own attempt of the GR20. I feel inspired after following your progress through this series. I have one question: after Cinto, you travelled further than the 'standard' stage limits, accumulating a little extra distance each day, but then you seem to have lost that gain on stage 6 by taking a short day. Have I correctly understood? If so, did you have a reason for this? Sorry in advance if I have miscalculated :) Please keep up the great work!
Thanks for the compliment ! The stage 6 is easy and interesting for shooting with the Nino Lake, I wanted to take my time and rest before the famous and long stage 7. The other reason is that I prefer and privilege sheepfolds because I do not really like shelters in which we eat badly and lack authenticity. So I had no choice but to stop in this wonderful place: the sheepfold of Vaccaghia which is one of the few sheepfolds where animals are present and their cheese delicious! Anyway, my steps on the GR20 were chosen according to the time that I was going to realize my shots, and indeed according to these sheep-folds which are very pleasant halts like that of Matalza. Have a look, to my stage 14 from Matalza to Bavella. I recommend this route. This is the most varied and interesting route that I made on the GR20. If you wish, I can send you the GPX track. Good GR! David
@@Ihadadream Thanks for this reply. I hadn't thought of the bergeries being more authentic... but it makes sense that they would be! If there had been no snow, would stage 7 would it have been much easier? I am also thinking of doubling stages 8&9. Thanks for your comments on this... so I will take the crest route and just accept the suffering at the start of stage 9 . I am not aware of any refuges or bergeries between Mangano and Petra Piana... would you agree? I had initially looked for one so that stage 8 would be shorter, but to no avail :) A final question about kit. Did you wear the Decathlon Merino t-shirt? If so, what did you think? I plan to use these also (thanks to the blog of Madame Bougeotte :)) I have trained in them, but have not tested them over several days... any thoughts welcome. Did you also wear the Decathlon convertible trouser / shorts? If so, did the zip around your legs rub at all? This year, I only have time to do the Northern half. Maybe next year, I will do the South part. Thanks again! Please keep up the great work!
