- Pipsqueak was showing some signs of a upper respiratory infection. I heard him sneeze numerous times and sniffle and his eyes seem a little red. His breathing sounds crinkly. Saskia would know better than me and the Los Angeles Guinea Pig Rescue offers free health checks for all guinea pigs. Saskia will be able to let me know what I should do. Saskia I love that clipping nails was your thing, and that you found a way to continue. I used to go play with all the dogs and animals in the neighbourhood that i knew. And often got in trouble, as i greeted the pets before the humans.
Dogs have owners, cats have staff. One is a friend not matter what, the other dains to grace you with its presence. My cat is boss just because it does not care, but the dog does and it drives her insane.
I am piggies over bunnies, but also love them all, but the piggies clicked for me.

I have turned on a hot shower & closed the bathroom door to let the guinea pig breath in some steam. It helps with the breathing.

My boy Trig, who didn't have the immune system that his brother Roadie has. Trig was always getting URIs' and Roadie never once got sick despite living with Trig. Even when Trig got Pneumonia Roadie never got ill. Sadly Trig is no longer with us, but despite being ill, he was a very happy boy, always dancing around, standing on his back legs, Wheeking for his food and attention. It was only when Trig got really, really ill-having trouble breathing because his lungs become scarred from all his URIs' did he become quieter, until he became his version of healthy again.
Pipsqueek is wonderful. I hope he's well. I love him when he's eating a carrot. He's still a punker though.

Pipsqueak has a lil head tilt poor guy. He is so gorgeous. I have had many albino and white abbys and they are more apt to have certain illnesses and infections. They are often prone to blindness and deafness and other problems and loss of hair. They still are my fave and just wonderful. Going to an exotic vet that specializes in gpiggies is vitally important. They are so different from other animals. I have just loved them always. Had piggies for over 33 years. If I were not so ill now and in serious distress I would have a gp herd again and my dream was to retire and have a gp farm. They are everything!
He’s my fave piggy because he reminds me of my Cuddles. Hope he feels better soon. Maybe it’s allergies? My cat went through the same thing-so did I. ❤️🙏
he probably had diabetes blindness when you got him. he looks so good now such a good boy

I love all animals! When I was young I'd go to the local zoo and pet the porcupines (even tho it wasn't really allowed). They were soooo cute and sweet. I would love to rescue one these days. I also had a ball python who my 3 year old son named 'Snakey'. He was a sweetie but his poos smelled so bad! I would love to have a farm full of rescued animals. Maybe one day...

I am actually a cat/guinea pig lady... i live in the Netherlands with my 2 cats and 9 guinea pigs (group of 5 girls and 2 boar-pairs). And the cats love the piggies and are extremely gentle with them, while the piggies pee on them and it is a miracle the cats still have whiskers and no bald spots,lol.the cats never hit or bite the piggies.pipsqueek is adorable and i love all video's of you and my name sake(?)

It’s possible to have a fungal and/or bacterial infection. If he isn’t getting better a vet can test for whatever strain of bacteria or fungus he has. They can better target the antibiotics or anti fungal medications. Princess, my wonder pig, had both. I ended up getting her tested and her medication changed and she quickly got better. Another reason I’m a big proponent of taking your piggy to the Vet.

Not to be all depressing, but I lost my heart pig last Nov. I need to make some little burial stones for my 2. (Only 1 left) I just stare at the ground in such sadness & disbelief. It’s easier having my dog’s ashes on the fireplace. Couldn’t afford cremation for my pigs. And if we ever move, I’ll miss not having their ‘spots’ move w/ me. Am I the only weird one that feels this way?

My little man has allergies. We put him on antibiotics but it didn't work. Benadryl is the only thing that helps him. He is also partially blind because we had to remove one of his eyes due to an abscess. He's been through alot but he is really tough.

Sorry to pour cold water on your theory. We had a rabbit who was very much part of the family who was our first pet, she liked to steal our bacon sandwiches when she could. When she was in the house she would always run up to us and cuddle or hop around our feet she really was very sweet. She used to drink the dregs from my parents tea cups too. My next pet was a guinea pig who liked to hide in my dressing gown sleeves. I've loved both rabbits and guinea pigs ever since in spite of our second and third rabbits being semi psychotic rexes. I'm not a massive dog or cat person simply because of them being potential predators to my pigs and rabbits.

Bunnies and cats are both lagomorphs so it would make total sense for cat people to be bunny people as well! 🐇🐈

This is too funny.....I have 7 piggies.....3 male brother's one rescue female that just had 3 baby's.....and when listing to saskia....and thay here the piggies in the background of the video's....mine all put there little paws up on the side of there pen and call out the same way!😂

Have you ever tried Vet Rx ? Its an all natural liquid and you put two drops on the nose everyday. They have some for small animals . It works so good! At the first sign of any uri it stops it from turning into anything. You just have to catch it soon. Its worked wonders for me! Even if you get a new rescue, you could just put a drop on all the pigs for extra health. I imagine it could be a tool for bonding even.... ( instead of the vicks tip)

I was going to ask if you could make a video on administering antibiotics as I was struggling to give my piggy (Brave) antibiotics a few weeks ago. I managed to do it but it was very difficult. Glad to see how to do it in a way that seems easier.

A little bit of research and go get a couple. The love they give is immense. They all have individual personalities and watching those personalities coming out is so rewarding.
I had guinea pigs when I was a child. And then my kids had them. I just love the cages they have these days! Maybe someday I'll get more. I'm not home enough now to give them the attention they deserve. So for now I enjoy Scotty and Saskia's videos. 🤗

Pipsqueak reminds me of my friends guinea pig Oreo she was just like pipsqueak but she wasn't blind she was just a really interesting little girl she would try to bite people one day I was over there hanging out with him and his guinea pig and she tried to bite my finger and I just looked at her and said don't you dare she just pulled herself back from biting me and she gave me this facing sorry

Thats ao true about Guinea pigs being for dog people. I always say my piggies are like my dogs.
We have two guinea pigs I swear one acts like a dog who will come to you like a dog will. Then my other one acts like a cat who runs every time you go by their cage. I guess I have both types of animals. Lol they are the best.

Take all your medicine like a good boy little Pipsqueak! What's the temperature like in their room? I moved my girls cage away from the window because the temp fluctuated to much. I don't know about piggies, but with people a UTI is not contagious. It's usually brought on by irritation to the nasal passages and throat, pollen being one of the worst culprits but also smoke, dry air and can even be brought on as a secondary issue of a common cold. I hope he heals up quick.
