Ciao amici, Amo i vostri video.
I absolutely love these videos! I am so happy that this came out today. As a New Yorker who is very familiar with Italian American neighborhoods, the first thing that I did when I went to San Diego was to visit Little Italy!
Now a days Little Italy is full of anglo hipsters. Back in the day the San Diego residents referred to Little Italy as Wop Town (even my generation and im 38). Now i know its a derogatory term for Italians. Must have come from a time when anglo saxons didnt really view them as fellow whites in this country. With time Mexicans started to move in and shared the neighborhood with them. They even had a gang composed of Chicanos and Italians called Barrio Wop Town (no lie). Filipis is truely a gem here in SD. One of their other older filipis restaurant is in west Chula Vista in the South Bay SD area. I grew up going to that one w my family. Its still their to this day and going strong. The filipis in Imperial Beach is my favorite filipis. The food, the service is just great. Greetings to all the Italiano Americanos.
Expoling the contributions of our West Coast Paesani was a blast... and we only made it to 4 cities, so we will defintely be back!! Thanks for watching!
This is a very good video. I had a sailboat in San Diego and spent many hours in little Italy. My favorite restaurants are Mona Lisa and Flippis. I bet I got a bunch of wine bottles hanging from the ceiling there! You're video shows how wonderful San Diego's Little Italy is. Good job!
Our Sicilian immigrant family were farmers here in California. My connection with the culture is now primarily in San Pedro. Hopefully, you visited A1 Market (est. 1946) in a future episode.
These are so well done. Always a small treat to look forward to.
That means alot coming from such a passionate Italian American... Thanks for watching Professor!

West Coast Italian immigrants developed so many wonderful foods for North Americans. Wine and Tomatoes, two of the many.

Tomatoes were already in north america long before italians used it in their cuisine. The word tomato derives from an aztec word.
@@ItalianAmerican The West is the best. Bensonhurst is the worst.
