Truth be told, Honda usually makes that contract amendment once their foot is planted in the team, or have an engine every team wants. Japan has power in the sport. Always have. It wouldn't be the first time that (Visa, Maxi Tampon, Hugo Boss, Minardi, Alpha Tauri, Cash App, Racing Bull) had a different engine supplier than RedBull.
@@LawVS That's a perfect summary of Stroll's career, the people I talk to about F1 tell me the same thing. Stroll is a talented boy, but he has a serious concentration problem. He is capable of doing magnificent things but quickly loses focus. It is something normal in people who are born with life resolved (more than resolved) you have everything, you look for constant changes and it is difficult for you to maintain mental discipline.
I still remember watching Grosjean’s crash, and after the death of Anthonie Hubert I was mortified. I still remember that I was in near disbelief seeing him jump out flapping his arms and hands around, I’m so glad that he’s embraced it as a part of who he his and didn’t let it bring him down.
Lawrence Stroll has invested heavily in the team, teamed up with Honda, built in a wind tunnel and brought in a huge investment by Saudi Aramco. What have you done in the last year?
I like watching Pietro Fittipaldi in IndyCar. He is very aggressive and does not just sit back and wait around. He did not qualify that well at the first race in St. Pete, but he made his way up through the field in what otherwise a really boring race.
Why? Since when does a team need to try getting the 2 best driver in at all time? Especially when you have a nearly 40 year old driver who is know to change his mode quick and turn against you why get a sainz in and risk a lot of drama, money and problems instead of just keeping lance? Nobody wsnts to drive for RB next to max because they dont like somebody beating them, if anything keeping lance will make getting driver like leclerc or Piastri in future way easier then having sainz against them.
Lance is weird. To me he doesn't seem very motivated anymore. I'm curious if him staying in F1 is more something his dad wants than he himself actually wants.
Very good video! I certainly hope Lawrence can make decisions to the benefit of the team as a whole. Fact is a lot of fans are looking to Aston as a nice prospect for the future, someone who could join the big teams in 26 or onwards, and if this whole thing falls apart because of a driver like Stroll it would be a pretty sad day in motorsport. Lawrence honestly seems like he knows what he's doing so far, and if Stroll leaves there might be even more money to be gained as you pointed out.
You all should accept that stroll is an owner driver. He wont go anywhere as long as he doesnt want to and he have the right to do so as They finance a major operation and he is qualified to race in f1. He is nowhere near bad as a lot of guys that we have seen so just accept that he is there to stay. You have to make peace with the reality at some point. And no i am not saying he should stay, i am saying he will stay and you wont change that fact.
Idle curiosity: What if Aston Martin rock up next year with one of those cars any numpty can win in? Oh, come on! Even in the closest of years it's aways more about the car than the driver... but some years it's ALL about the car. -Will Papa Stroll bung Fernando a bunch of cash to throw the championship? -Assuming 'Nando refuses to take a dive, what next..? PS There was a time I really liked Stroll - That British cheer on the plucky underdog... Yes I know his dad bought him an F1 team. But with Lance's good days becoming rarer than a properly dressed young lady in Liverpool on a Saturday night, even I think it's time he departed.
Your analysis, as always was fun, but within all that you said, if papa-Stroll sells, the obvious outcome would be Honda takes over & rebrands the team to Honda F1 with Aramco partnership remaining. To overlook/assume both Honda & Aramco have not already made/factored-in such a, "win win," calculus in their signing with Aston is a bit of an oversight?
A big part of AM's problem is copying Red Bull's car without a clear understanding of how it works. They copy what they can see, and make up what they can't. It seems to keep them in the running to begin with, but starts to fall off as the season goes on because they don't really know how to upgrade it, because they don't understand it. Stroll has demonstrated that he's completely fine copying as much as legal, but until they actually bring some of their own innovation to the car, they're going to continue being quick in the beginning of the season, and stalling out in the second half.
I was thinking when the Alonso contract was confirmed, that if AM were really smart, they would go straight to Carlos and say we have an excellent car, and you can have a 2-3 year contract, and whenever Fernando retires then you are our star driver
What annoys me most about Lance is that he has shown he can actually race if he gets his mind to it. But since AM is his playground he just doesn't take it serious enough.
The fact that Stroll isn't even that committed to F1 (at least that's the vibe he gives off) whilst not only holding a seat hostage from new blood but also just straight up crashing a lot of the time then whining about his car and other people is just criminal. Reeks so much of pure privilege.
Best available drivers! Mike Krack is a hoot! I think even the biggest Lance Stroll fan (not employed by Lawrence) would struggle to argue Lance is even in the top 10 most talented drivers on the grid this year!
The problem is that lance is never under any actual pressure. He is not the worst driver on the grid by a long shot. He just needs some guidance. Which I'm pretty sure is why Alonso is there in the first place. I would love stroll to get a shot at WEC or Imsa. He has shown quite a lot of pace in the sports car categories.
Grosjean has managed to be a mid field driver in IndyCar, just like he was in F1 and he wrecks half the field out at least a few times a season just like in F1. I am very glad he got out of that car in Bahrain, it was one of the scariest modern wrecks I have seen in real time, but the massive media boost he got and the surge of fans his first year in IndyCar was absurd. As a fan of both, I remember telling a couple of my IndyCar fan friends, just wait until he knocks your favorite driver out of the race going for an insanely small closing gap he has no business trying to drive into and tell me how you feel about him then. I don't dislike Grosjean the person, he seems like a really great guy, but his driving makes me furious.
Drugovich on an average day could run rings round Lance in equal machinery. Aston will never get close to P4 in the constructors all the time only one driver is consistently scoring points.
When Lance Stroll was ten years old Lawrence asked him what he wanted for Christmas and Lance replied I want a "Mickey Mouse outfit". So some years later Lawrence brought him an F1 team.
The thing is many here probably don’t even drive. People can get angry all they want. Fact of the matter is without Lance Stroll, there wouldn’t be Lawrence Stroll spending obscene money for an F1 team when it would have been a bad investment, meaning there would only be 9 teams on the grid right now with them fighting to block a tenth team on the grid out of pure greed.
Convinced that most the f2 grid would score more points in that car, and look less amateurish too. Its been 7 years and Stroll still drives like a rookie, he aint getting any better! Krack deserves an oscar for saying everything Stroll snr tells him to with a straight face
My sneaking suspicion is that Daddy Stroll is setting Lance up to take over a major role in Aston Martin as a manufacturer once his racing career is done.
I even like the way he speaks and answer questions. He is not into this f1 career. He knows he is still there because of papa stroll that’s why he is not bothered and it’s hurting the team badly. He need to leave the team ASAP please
Lets take a moment to recognize the fact that a father created an f1 team for his son, everything aside, you can see how much Papa Stroll cares for lance.
@LawVS ofcourse, I agree that business wise it's super irresponsible but as someone who was spoiled by his dad(not that extent) it kinda reminds me of my old man.
You can't really force Lance out either tbh because at the end of the day if his dad wants to invest his own money and have him as the driver then he's entitled to it. Lance ain't the best or the worst but they can definitely get a better driver, having a team doesn't force you to have the best drivers though as they can have whoever they see fit even if we the fans don't like it.
@@LawVS I agree man, we all moan like crazy but we'd jump at the chance ourselves if it came our way. I believe he'd go into Endurance racing at the end of 25, like you said "they will need to up their game to keep sponsors".
If...IF AM were to somehow sign Newey, and have him design their Hypercar for the WEC, it would give Lance an opening to a somewhat graceful exit from F1. I mean, who wouldn't jump at that opportunity?! He'd save face by joining the AM LeMans push, free up his F1 seat, and still allow Papa Stroll to support the F1 team. It's a 'make the pie larger' solution. The main rub in this plan (other than signing Newey, ofc), is that if Lance has trouble maintaining his concentration in F1, then maintaining his concentration for multiple stints over 12 and 24 hour races might be too big a challenge. Then again, you don't race at 10 tenths much in endurance racing, so he might just fit in perfectly. I think it would be fascinating to watch and find out!
Agree 100%. If I owned a team, I'd do what I want, no one is owed anything. It's good to know that Lance has a caring father, and hopefully Lance will race as long as he wants, and when he's done someone else will have their turn. Aston has given second life to Alonso, and seem to treat him marvelously, and we should appreciate that.
Asked about his contract talk to be basically a done deal by Buxton, Lance Stroll answered "let's see what the future holds, I am focusing on Shangai right now"
on a related note, what was the point of Honda winning a championship with Red Bull then quiting then choosing to resurface a few places down the grid?
@@hudsonrylee redbull wouldve never needed to go with ford since theyre already winning with honda. Why break a winning combo? New regs in 2026 will shake things up and chances are signal the end of redbull domination
I can't believe people consider finishing with the 10th most points (97) is a bad performance. Who was he supposed to beat? All the other drivers ahead had faster cars than Aston for the last half of the year...
At what point do the shareholders or big sponsers realise that to move forward, they need someone else alongside Alonso, by the time that happens it will be too late.
If Alonso is smart he would mentor the ever living hell out of Lance. If Aston get a better understanding of the car they are going to enter championship levels. If Alonso has a driver that can actually help him I have a feeling he is going to score a championship.
Kick stroll out, bring in the Hulk or bring back Vettel. Either of them paired with Alonso would have led Aston Martin to beating Mercedes in the constructors last year.
Hey Law! My fellow Yuki cheering man! What do you think about Sprint Qualies? I mean - He's never raced there before - no doubt spent practice trying to map it out - I don't think this race will be a direct "Yuki V Daniel" comparison (because that exists) but more like "How fast can snow flower adapt to a track he hasn't driven before" I don't know. I'm not trying to defend him but - if you've never driven it before - how can you be up there? BUT ALSO LANDO ON POLE NOBODY MOVE! NOT AN INCH! Let's not get Russia flashbacks
Funny how I've been saying this for weeks. Honda and Aramco aren't going to continue with Lance regardless of Lawrence and now all the F1 talking heads are repeating it. Sainz will sign for AM for 2025.

Stroll has his ups and downs I will give him that, but there are so many better options on the grid in my opinion there's no reason for them to choose him other than the point that his father owns the team.
Objectively looking at the team, Carlos sainz or even Yuki Tsunoda would be a better fit.
@quentinhirschfeld9382 the sport is known for decades to be full of paid drivers lol do you think enzo was anywhere close to the best in his days? No, his name and money got him a seat. We just had people like Mazipin and Latifi in f1. Even if we go into the lower levels karting is a lot about money and having it to buy a team gives you a big advantage.
It's amazing how little time it took for this video to age like wine
Romain is a Phoenix because every single week in Indy, he wrecks and yet still has a seat the next weekend.
Agreed, Romain is a total dropkick of a driver.
I feel like this is one of the only channels where it makes sense to see Christmas decorations in the background outside of the Christmas period
Honda will want a Japanese driver at some point...
Honda, SO FAR, has expressly said they won't influence the driver lineup.
Fernando is humble and it won't bother him much... If it was Max or Lewis, they would have made this season their last at Aston...
Even if so, tough luck, maybe after Fernando retires
@@rebel255 Fernando will retire when they switch to hover cars...
@@LawVS Honda always talks out of the side of their mouths. Didn't they pull out a couple years ago? Truth be told, Honda usually makes that contract amendment once their foot is planted in the team, or have an engine every team wants.
Japan has power in the sport. Always have. Especially when there is a driver such as Yuki waiting in the wings. He's no slouch. He's pummeling Danny Ric.
He's also a local hero in Japan. Did you see the turn out? They love him.
Either he gets the AM drive, or don't be surprised if Honda doesn't back another F1 team. It wouldn't be the first time that (Visa, Maxi Tampon, Hugo Boss, Minardi, Alpha Tauri, Cash App, Racing Bull) had a different engine supplier than RedBull.
This is such timing with Stroll's P1 in practice.
and then P15 in SQ2.
@@LawVS He definitely STROLLED us.
Eh I mean he went back to regular Stroll in Q2
@@LawVS
That's a perfect summary of Stroll's career, the people I talk to about F1 tell me the same thing. Stroll is a talented boy, but he has a serious concentration problem. He is capable of doing magnificent things but quickly loses focus. It is something normal in people who are born with life resolved (more than resolved) you have everything, you look for constant changes and it is difficult for you to maintain mental discipline.
P1 in practice is like scoring goals during training sessions and being proud of it.
Man ever since I heard you say Mike Krack the first time I can't stop smirking at it now.
I am beyond belief how you have churned out high quality videos every day for the past month. Remarkable! ❤️
daddies boy needs to go along with daddie
Lawrence Stroll has invested heavily in the team, teamed up with Honda, built in a wind tunnel and brought in a huge investment by Saudi Aramco. What have you done in the last year?
Along with some one up their Krake 😅😅😅😅
I like watching Pietro Fittipaldi in IndyCar. He is very aggressive and does not just sit back and wait around. He did not qualify that well at the first race in St. Pete, but he made his way up through the field in what otherwise a really boring race.
Oh woah I didn’t know St Pete was the first race of the season! I just stumbled upon it on TV and was like hey it’s Indy I gotta watch!
Seeing Albon and Sargeant get 1-3 doing FP1 was fun. Even though it was short lived.
Lance needs to be replaced but that probably won’t happen because his dad owns the damn team
This is why there should be 12 teams in F1.
I liked the subtle doctor who quote from the cybermen, good to see you watch dr who
Good to see you racking up 80k + Attic Dwellers
You all should accept that stroll is an owner driver. He wont go anywhere as long as he doesnt want to and he have the right to do so as They finance a major operation and he is qualified to race in f1. He is nowhere near bad as a lot of guys that we have seen so just accept that he is there to stay. You have to make peace with the reality at some point. And no i am not saying he should stay, i am saying he will stay and you wont change that fact.
sending love back from Brazil ❤
you're really pushing my attention span with a Lance Stroll title, but I'm here.
Lance Stroll-centric ADHD? 😅
Lance would still blow it. Watch some of his on boards. He saws at the wheel, and isnt smooth. The skill just isn't there. He's reached his ceiling.
Been loving the content! I've been a fan of yours for years now! Its awesome to know someone else shares a love of both Dragon Ball AND Motorsport!
World champions are cut-throat. Lawrence doesn't have the stomach for it if he can't let go of his mid-tier son.
Also, Andretti Honda would sound so good, although they're not the best combo in IndyCar right now
Best available drivers!
Aston saying "We have the best drivers already." Is literally the same thing as "There is no war in Ba Sing Se" from the show Avatar.
We already knew this back in 2022 when his dad bought the team/new team Principle is LawVS
0:44, I feel personally attacked for that one
Drugovich on an average day could run rings round Lance in equal machinery. Aston will never get close to P4 in the constructors all the time only one driver is consistently scoring points.
Dude I loved your content about dragon ball and I‘m more than happy to have your f1 content now. ❤️
When Lance Stroll was ten years old Lawrence asked him what he wanted for Christmas and Lance replied I want a "Mickey Mouse outfit". So some years later Lawrence brought him an F1 team.
Lance makes AM like a one legged man in a ass kicking competition.
The thing is many here probably don’t even drive. Any fan would sell their left eyeball to be a driver in F1, or even be a billionaire (much less a multi-millionaire), or wish you were loved enough for dad to commit to saving a team AND Manufacturer for you to do what you love. Cry, cry, cry, but there is levels to the game of life, and most of us aren’t even players.

Take a shot every time Laurence says a “But What If~?”
Where can you all find this type of commitment? Well done 👍
With Lance in that car, Aston Martin will forever be fighting with one hand tied behind their backs.
As a Canadian I cheer Alonso over Stroll 100% of the time.
The more the team progresses, the more pressure there will be from external factors to take their campaign seriously.
@@LawVS I agreed
Lets take a moment to recognize the fact that a father created an f1 team for his son, everything aside, you can see how much Papa Stroll cares for lance.
Yes, but there's also the time for a father to know when not to keep pushing his son.
@LawVS ofcourse, I agree that business wise it's super irresponsible but as someone who was spoiled by his dad(not that extent) it kinda reminds me of my old man.
0:44 LMAOOOO cmon give me that smirk law
You can't really force Lance out either tbh because at the end of the day if his dad wants to invest his own money and have him as the driver then he's entitled to it.
Lance ain't the best or the worst but they can definitely get a better driver, having a team doesn't force you to have the best drivers though as they can have whoever they see fit even if we the fans don't like it.
No. It's up to Lance himself to go "You know what? I'm good."
@@LawVS I take it back now 👀💀
Force him out, I don't even care anymore 😅
Sometimes, enough IS actually enough
From a marketing perspective, Aston just waiting for Stroll to have a good race for '25 announcement.

early prediction on Lance, maybe this , maybe that..... be patient and wait for the team to grow strong.
It's what he is doing presently but we need to be aware he's employed by Aston. Of course he will support Lance.
While Aramco will want results for their investments, if anyone understands the importance of nepotism, it is also the Saudis.
Kick stroll out, bring in the Hulk or bring back Vettel. Either of them paired with Alonso would have led Aston Martin to beating Mercedes in the constructors last year.
I'd say, kick Stroll out or phase him out of the company, and replace him with other drivers.
Hey Law! My fellow Yuki cheering man! What do you think about Sprint Qualies?
I mean - He's never raced there before - no doubt spent practice trying to map it out - I don't think this race will be a direct "Yuki V Daniel" comparison (because that exists) but more like "How fast can snow flower adapt to a track he hasn't driven before"
I don't know. I'm not trying to defend him but - if you've never driven it before - how can you be up there?

I think Honda and Aramco, together with other sponsors will eventually say to Lawrence that either us, or your son.
No wonder Alonso keeps praising Lance. "Yo Lawrence, your boy good! Keep the cash pouring in!" 🤑🤑🤑🤑
Funny how I've been saying this for weeks. Honda and Aramco aren't going to continue with Lance regardless of Lawrence and now all the F1 talking heads are repeating it. Sainz will sign for AM for 2025.
