Omg i know wish for a White Xmas never get it at any stage of a year that really feels half that time is flying rapidly fast now.Playing this like so many others and researching them Merry Xmas and Happy Holidays to all over Our World 🌎🌍
For some reason when the greatest Christmas songs are played on the radio or on t.v stations this song gets totally overlooked or forgotten....yet for me it's right up there with any Christmas song ever written.
I also don't understand why this song doesn't get the credit or airplay that it deserves, it may not get you up and dancing but the lyrics are so relevant whatever year it is
I will make sure this so under rated beautiful song gets played at every Christmas dinner and Christmas party ever, and I've been here for 60 Christmas songs and this is up there with the best because of its true meaning.
Couldn't agree more, it is one of the best "Christmas tunes" ever. After pestering my local radio station (BBC Radio Lancashire), they finally started playing it TG. I don't think its a copyright issue ( not in UK). Perhaps meaningful, decent songs are not fashionable. Why would they be, in our fb dominated generation?? When did you last hear Bing or NKC on radio? Enough said.
There’s no reason why it can’t be played. Gilbert owns the rights to his catalogue now and it’s simply because radio producers in the U.K. are lazy and don’t bother to actually recall this single. It’s still played regularly on Dutch radio around Xmas where Gilbert was a very big star xx
Someone JUST posted this link to their FB page and I listened.... Wow! what a transportational experience. I recall when this came out and what a fantastic reminder of how great songs were when they were written and performed like this. Thanks Gilbert (Ray) for being a 'sleeper' genius to be discovered and re-discovered throughout the decades, now, since and yet to come.
Utterly brilliant song. Needs airplay. Hilarious to see the Bay City Rollers doing backing vocals in the video. What a great laugh it must have been. We knew it at the age of nine.
A superb Christmas classic with a simple, universal message of peace on Earth and one of the best melodies Gilbert ever wrote. It is a neglected classic which should be heard as often as Merry Christmas Everybody, When A Child Is Born etc.❤
I would have to say that it's all the better for not being heard as often as Slade, Wizzard, Jona Lewie, etc. They are played ad nauseum every Christmas, which is a shame because they are all terrific songs but it gets to the point where you don't want to hear them. Another great Christmas song that doesn't get played is 'Wombling Merry Christmas'. Not sure why that is: maybe the Wombles are no longer relevant (were they ever?!). Regardless, a great song is a great song. Why some get played to death, while others are hardly played at all is a bit of a mystery. Another one that is never heard is 'Thanks for Christmas' by the Three Wise Men (aka XTC).
Gilbert O'Sullivan has the rare talent of being able to write songs that are distinctive and which all have a similar feel to them, but which don't all sound the same.
I don't understand why this beautiful we sing doesn't get played On the radio at Christmas time I remember when I first heard this song from Gilbert I thought what a happy lovely we Christmas song I love it and been listening to it in August
One of greatest Christmas songs of all time. I absolutely love this song, that (for some reason) is totally overlooked by every radio station and every Christmas album every year. Give this great song the respect it deserves please !!
This song brings back memories to when I was young and the excitement looking at glittering lights all over Dublin , with snow men outside people's front gardens with painted windows and feeling Christmas spirit everywhere,🌲⛄❄️🎁🎊🎈🎅👶👼
Nearly 50years this Xmas Song which i have on one of my Xmas CDs Comps.Unique voice of Gilbert he was huge early to mid 70s then went other directions. This gets ignored its done wonderfully well the kids in the choir yikes gosh scary will be in their 50s or so add familiar faces with them the Bay City Rollers nice.Happy Holidays and to all over Our World enjoy 😊😅
After hearing x-mas songs since Sept till Jan , here in the Philippines, this song will be a refreshing change to hear and as meaningful too if not more.
I remember listening to this song the winter of 2001. There was absolutely no snow in Connecticut that winter, just like New Mexico weather. My father was literally killed by my brother and collaborators the year before. A very painful trauma. I cried listening to this song. Happy holidays as best as you all can have one.
Isn't this song so appropriate for the world we are living in now.sounds as good as ever
Omg i know wish for a White Xmas never get it at any stage of a year that really feels half that time is flying rapidly fast now.Playing this like so many others and researching them Merry Xmas and Happy Holidays to all over Our World 🌎🌍
One of them greatest Christmas songs of all time, takes me back to the 70s when Mum and Dad were alive and we had great Christmases at home
I was 12 then and loved your reminesines on your parents, God bless and best wishes ❤

A peaceful world is the best gift ever for everyone...

Absolutely the best Xmas song of all the times. Gilbert O'sullivan is from another planeta, a planet where all is better than here

Best Xmas song ever no1
magic festive song sung by a unique singer - ahh those good ol days are long gone but the memories still hoover on
I totally agree. It’s never played, but one of the best (in my opinion...) Christmas songs ever
I couldn’t agree more.
I totally agree.
this is one of the best Christmas songs, just brilliant.
I also don't understand why this song doesn't get the credit or airplay that it deserves, it may not get you up and dancing but the lyrics are so relevant whatever year it is
Totally agree with you
I will be singing and playing this on my guitar at my local folk and acoustic club tonight.
2.48 minutes of brilliance!!!
A very under rated song. Love it..😊🥰
Such a clever twist on Irwing Berlins immortal White Christmas. Gilbert is not dreaming of a white Christmas but a PEACEFUL one! Marvellous.
Retro man A christmas hit from 1974 😛😛😛😛😛❤💋
One of my favourite xmas songs but you never hear it played at all ☹

I will make sure this so under rated beautiful song gets played at every Christmas dinner and Christmas party ever, and I've been here for 60 Christmas songs and this is up there with the best because of its true meaning.
Absolutely.lovely.song.classic.😂😂❤.should.b.played.more.on.the.radio
Why does this song not get played on the radio there must be a reason it's better than all the other ones that get played non stop
I think it's something to do with copyright or so I heard I don't understand it myself

I agree, in Poland not played too
Gusdocs1 I just discovered this from BBC Radio 2 at 5 o'clock this morning. One of the few worthwhile Christmas songs, in my mind.
There’s no reason why it can’t be played. Gilbert owns the rights to his catalogue now and it’s simply because radio producers in the U.K. are lazy and don’t bother to actually recall this single. It’s still played regularly on Dutch radio around Xmas where Gilbert was a very big star xx
I have to play this on yt every year because they dont play it on the radio.
One of the very best seasonal songs from one of the very best songwriters - and yet never gets played.

Think he sang it on bcr’s tv show, “Shang a Lang”

Conspicuously absent from the roster of Xmas songs on the radio, but that's good because I appreciate it that much more.

The correct and official title is Christmas Song.
Gilbert O'Sullivan has the rare talent of being able to write songs that are distinctive and which all have a similar feel to them, but which don't all sound the same.
Listening to this classic Christmas song in March 2022, I don't understand why it doesn't get the airtime it so deserves every December.
Because the globalists control the media, and believe me; they don't want peace!
