- The arrival at Anor Londo serves as quite the milestone for players. It is also a good marker for the halfway point of the game as once the player beats this section, their progress through the world will change and this will also be a turning point in the game's narrative. It’s an important point in the game and I will also highlight the level design while diving into what role Anor Londo plays in this game’s narrative and themes. I really hope I did this area and Gwyndolin justice with this analysis. Dark Souls' story and lore can get pretty bleak but I always try to find some hope in it. Hope you enjoy the video! I adore Gwyndolin's dialogue after you yeet the sun mommy. It was so immersive with the change in lighting/environment and that gripping voice acting. It was amazing on my first play through

Really enjoying this series after i found it through the izalith video. I'd played through sotfs a thousand times but never managed to get through DS1 until last year, and finally beat it a few months ago. Since tnen I can't help but consume all the good content.
My interpretation of Gwyndolin is as someone who, after being nothing but shunned and looked on with disgust by his father (so often described as weak and frail, literally born with snakes) I have no doubt that his father was disappointed in him from day one.
That kind of treatment didnt embitter him toward his father, but instead do all he can to be a good child, earn his father's approval by any means necessary. He isn't just a follower of that same path, hes a total fanatic. His cult dedicate themselves, he calls you a heretic, he's created an entire world to trick you, and I think that obsession stems from a desire to both do what he thinks his father would approve of, and perhaps bask in this false sun.
Do we ever find out what happened to the real Gwynyvere?

Gwyndolin is my boi. Im not as much a fan of the great chest being that I like pretty boys. I always join darkmoon whenever I do a DS run.
When I played DS3 I died to Aldrich the first time because I was too busy WTFing to fight. Sulyvahn and Aldrichs storyline is prolly the most disturbing thing in any game.
Also, one thing that stands out: Gwyndolyn is not a giant.
In Dark Souls.
WHERE ALMOST EVERY BOSS IS THE SIZE OF A BUILDING, EVEN THE DOG.
Gwyn also is human sized, but that speaks volumes about his diminishment and hollowing.

I definitely plan on doing coverage on Dark Souls 3 but Dark Souls 2 is a pretty intimidating game for me to think about. It has a lot of interesting things going on but it can be pretty exhausting to play through on scholar of the first sin. I'm more open to the idea of covering Dark Souls 2 now because I might have a method of playing the original version of it which might be pretty interesting to talk about.
If you ever do have the extra money laying around and a ps3 or Xbox 360 you can buy a capture card and soul to scholar on the first sale on there which is just the normal version of the game with the DLC’s. Probably the best version of the game. It’s a dumb idea but if you ever do have extra money, it’s probably the best way to play the game with the DLC’s.
@@jackismemeish AFAIK the maps in the console versions of SOTFS are the same as the base game, so it might not be the best idea in terms of covering what most people who get the game will play.

Cool theory. Unfortunate that ******* had to *** Gwendolyn in DS3, or we could have had an alternative to either the Age of Fire and Dark. By the end of DS3, the moon is nonexistent, eclipsed by the dark sign, the battle of dark and light. Obviously speculation but cool anyways.
Fairly decent video, but a couple things to note: the rings description does not specify who cast out gwyns son. It is not correct to say that it was gwyn, because it is not explicitly stated.
While I agree that it was pretty not cool to raise gwyndolin as a daughter because of moon magic, we dont know why he was hidden away, and it could have just as easily been for his protectio
Again, your video was alright, but we shouldnt present things as fact, even when its heavily implied, unless its been confirmed.
I tried to frame this as just my viewpoint. I never want anyone to take what these dark souls videos say as total fact because that takes a lot of the fun out of the game! I feel like with what we are shown of Gwyndolin’s isolation, even if he was hidden for protection, it still is pretty sad. Whether to blame Gwyn or not is up to how you interpret what little we get to see of the history and that’s part of why I love this game’s storytelling so much!

Dear god the remaster lightning in anor Londo looks awful.
The descriptions lie to you depending on whose narrating them. The Sunlight Blade Miracle? Gywn NEVER banned his son or stripped him of his name or god hood. We know it because that miracle was laid on Gywn's Tomb in Anor Londo by the Son himself according to the description.
Gwyn is the most misunderstood and important character in the entire series. The truth behind Gwyn is too big for people. It's right there in the item descriptions and dialogue and it fucking kills me that every fucking year another channel goes up and spouts the exact same crap. People's basal assumptions about Gywn are wrong. There are big hints what i don't want to spoil in the way of white religon, item descriptions that specifically mention Gywn's actual Clan,

I would like to know more about what you mean by Gwyn. There are many ways to interpret Dark Souls and I would not describe different interpretations as “misunderstandings” or “crap”.

He broke his own soul apart to empower other rulers drained himself of nearly all his power and gave it to his own clan and then threw himself into the First Flame after all the other Gods abandoned the world and all of their worshippers to buy it and his family at least another millennia. Help me here how was he greedy. And here's 1 hint of what I am talking about the flower on Gwyns armor that he is always wearing means "burnt sacrifice." @@LavenderRex7705 I imagine hes refering to the Way of the White items descriptions and such. The Chief of this covenant is Lloyd (Gwyns Uncle), not Gwyn. In DS1 they were the responsable for branding the darksign on humans and dead bodies (shown in the intro cinematic) and over Solaire stating that he seeked to be undead by his will, to fullfil his own wish to seek his sun. I have no issues with your interpertpretations besides the misunderstanding of the Nameless King fate, Gwyn wasnt responsible for exile his own son (he went hollow after turning the first lord of Cinder long before this timeline) but Lloyd most probably. Here my logic/interpretations. In the DLC, in the royal garden you cannot see undead burg yet, only Anor Londo great walls, while in the present undeadburg, we can find the remnant of the Nameless King statue. so most likely he was a king of Anor Londo and had his own covenant for some period of the time when Oolacile existed yet. Lloyd looking for ursupating the Throne, made a claim that NK was plotting against their own kind because of his peaceful ways of dealing with old enemies like dragons (Black Dragon wasnt being persecuted), so Lloyd won the Throne by his Coup and ordered to kill NK. In the escape or before this events, Nk managed to pay respects to his father by giving his Miracle and his own ring on the tombstone. and then all Statues and history of him was banished from existence. I could feed my interpretation with ds3 items, but i dont personally like them, since was a lot of unecessary fan service.
