I convinced my daughter to take the Sunflower ferry from Osaka to Beppu when she spent a semester in Japan. She even brought me back a souvenir Sunflower hat from the onboard gift shop.

I do the Tokyo trains, but I haven't been on a shinkansen since 2007. Ferries in Japan are absolutely new to me, and I love how much the nicer ones look exactly like a business hotel in Hachioji. Can't go wrong. Suji is a rare plate. I hope you enjoyed it very much!

Nice little cabin..in size and furnishings, it reminds me of the room I had to stay in at the local Minitel. Also, usually you only see sunrises, but you got to see a sunset this time, nice. :-) And I presume most of your watchers, as soon as they saw the name 'Sunflower', were going 'wait for it, wait for it...*there* it is'..in anticipation of That Song. :-)

I fell in love with Japan through your videos and then when I got there my heart just felt joy everywhere. Calming and relaxing video of my favorite ferry line Sunflower 🌻. The suite was luxury accommodations to the maximum! That balcony was excellent on par with the best cruise ship quality. Yummy buffet food too!
Last weekend, I took the Sunflower Kurenai to Beppu and back. I enjoyed it so much! If not for your videos, I wouldn't have known that the Osaka - Beppu route goes during the day sometimes. Thank you!
Dear Mr solo travel, from the bottom of my heart like I have mentioned probably before, you bring such peace and adventure and happiness. not only that you might be an ambassador, as my dream is to actually do one journey so many to choose but I will save and one day I will go on one of these journey maybe not luxurious one but to me they all seem luxurious, train or ship ?
Very nice trip...almost a shame it was just overnight. I'd want to stay a week in those accomodations. They're nicer than a lot of cruise ships I've seen on UA-cam.

Now, just for sh*ts and giggles, you could pretend to fall asleep on Sunflower ship, BUT ...... wake up on the battleship Yamato and you get drafted to operate heavy naval guns or something. A complete nonsequitur. Trust me, people will love it.
I've seen a few Sunflower ferry videos. This was the nicest. I'm retired from NY in Mexico on the beach, as my disability prevents more travel. Sorry I didn't get to Asia
