Man it was his playing that made the jam
One of the most overlooked and underrated guitarist out there...
One of the best to ever do it
F-ing perfection… gave me goosebumps … as I flashed back to summer 1984. Didn’t know Jessie wrote this song, til today. Your band is “spot on”… and Jessie’s solo - EPIC 😮
The great Jesse Johnson 💜🤘🏿
Give this Man His Flowers! What an amazing Guitarist!🎸
A Master Guitarist, Though. 💜🙏🏾
Saw him perform this with Jesse Johnson Review back in 1985! YEAHHHH putting those Love Struck licks in at the end!!
O/17/22 Awesome Much Love
Dare go dat main again 👍🏾💯
This is awesome. Sounds wonderful. Love this. Thank you for posting this.
One of my favs! But the band didn't play those 5 syncopated hits to come out of the breakdown at around 2:05.....my ears want to hear that before he starts the giant solo! :)
Love ya Jesse!! 💋💖💖💖💖
🖤🌻
🔥
Wicked!
🤘🏾🤘🏾💜💜🎸💜💜🤘🏾🤘🏾
Here is another inaccuracy in the description of these Jesse Johnson videos. Jungle Love was for an album by The Time (Ice Cream Castle) - not Morris Day and The Time which is not the same exact band.
Written by Jesse johnson derived from a bass riff by jesse & he was cheated by prince for his song writing credits for this as well as many other songs & to add insult to injury jesse turned down using the song so prince put the song out as a B side to if I was your girlfriend was blocked by prince many times by making people believe that jesse was hanging on princes coat tails when it was the opposite after the time disbanded & left prince the fans years later even Dj's often asked when do we get the old prince back because the music changed dramatically
@@anthonylewis6335 That is not quite accurate and it is Jesse's account - just one side of the story. There are no credible sources for any of this. It was Shockadelica and it was just the title. Prince made a song with that name and released it as the B side prior to Johnson using the title for his second album. No song was stolen. When all that comes out after Prince is dead while there was almost 40 years to bring it up, I take it with a gigantic grain of salt.
@@anthonylewis6335 I knew Jesse, Jimmy Jam and Terry back in the day when they first left Prince and moved to L.A. I am a musician songwriter and was working with Rick James at the time. Jimmy Jam and I would hang out quite often as they didn't know too many people in L.A. at the time. He introduced me to Jesse who was in L.A. recording. We used to go to Fatburger (the original on La Cienega- now closed) every Friday or Saturday night and sit in my car eating Fatburgers and playing demo tapes. I was working on Val Young's Seduction album for Rick James, Jam/Lewis were working on Cherelle/Alexander and Jesse was working on his album. We would trade ideas and critique each other. The late night party people recognized them and would gather around my car and vibe off the music. Jimmy, Terry and Jesse would talk about how Prince "stole" music from them and other musicians all the time. I in turn told them how Rick James did the same with me and the musicians of the Stone City Band. "Fanatics" don't want hear it, but its rampant in the business and true. Andre Cymone said it, Brownmark said it. Morris said it and Lisa said it, also about P, using their songs and not giving them credit. Micki Free who I also knew, then of Shalimar, was a friend of Prince and said the same. I never met Prince, but I did go out with Denise Matthews once or twice! 🙂
Agreed all of these vultures say it after the man is dead.
No balls to say it when he was alive
@@thebrazilshow I may have been with you until that last sentence. Anyone who had really dated Denise would remember if it was once or twice.
Personally I would have like to seen Jessie show down with Prince to see who was truly the best...guitar player🫵🏽💯✌🏽
is that Dale Adtkins back there on bass
Yes that is Dale and my home boy Brian Edwards on drums.
on drums.
Dale and I go back…the drummer is fire bro….i play Jesse music in my one man drummer show!!!!thanks for hollering back
@@MrEarthquake2 No problem
Isn't this the same brother that LEFT The Time because he was tired of playing the same old songs....?
Love it but Its not the same without Morris and Jerome
Believe it or not. Jesse is singing that because he was the actual writer and producer of that song. Morris and Prince were credited due to the fact the time were under a production contract with Prince. Prince did add some post-production to the song but jessr wrote it.
I believe that..

Also wasn't Jesse Johnson's production and studio named Jungle Love?
Jesse didn’t write the lyrics he gave prince a Skelton on the song instrumental and prince reworked it .
@domigriffin340 please watch the original 7 documentary. It's all 7 of the original time members speaking on their careers. It's pretty good. Did you know the time had to record their last album as" the original 7" because prince would not allow them to record under the time name anymore?
