About ten years ago, with very little experience listening to Ministry, Two friends and myself walked into a sold out Ministry show at hard rock in New Orleans practically blacked out, security was nowhere to be seen, pushed our way straight to the front, stayed in the pit for the whole show, limped home, words cannot describe what took place there. Thank You Al Jourgensen. One of my most cherished experiences.
I was working for a paving crew fixing a street in downtown chicago and there was al walking by so I yelled hey al!! He stopped, turned and raised his fist and smiled. Still waiting for you to to run for mayor al.
It's great to see Al Jourgensen in a lucid state of mind making a lot of sense, he's the real deal, we love you Al and can't wait to see Ministry or RevCo, in the very near future.
I took m punk rock angst from my 20's, got an education in my 30's, and work for a federal land management agency to help conserve some beautiful spots in our country. Ministry was one of the bands from the 80s and 90s that helped me!
28:58 This words got me thinking. 30 years ago i never expected to learn something about life meaning through AL. Nice to see him alive, sober and wise after decades of hard partying. Godbless AL for being who he is.
The system isn't broken it's working perfectly the way they wanted to and your old complying ministry is signed with warner brothers so laugh and lie to us all
I was just the right age when Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste came out. Skateboarding, learning to play power chords, playing with drum machines, etc. Ministry was this creative expression and served as an extension of my imagination. I loved Mind, Paslm 69, and Filth Pig quite a lot. Lots of people didn't seem to like Filth Pig but I really loved it. Felt more honest and straightforward. Al doesn't have all the answers but he is paying attention to a large portion of the problem and gives that spirit to his music to help keep people thinking and not accepting everything on a surface level. For that his contribution to my own scrutiny and creative expression owes a debt. Thanks Al.
A lot of musicians his age and doing it the way he did are dried up, worn out and suffering from wet brain. This guy is just taking his second breath!!! I love it...
Hell, the most incredible thing is to see people that haven't lived half of what he has, haven't toured the world, never used drugs, and are fucked up at his age. Most hardcore musicians at his age are fine in comparison, music keeps you relatively young.
Even though he couldn’t give two shits for it... Al belongs in the Rock & Roll Hall of Sham. He is an Icon and a movement. First met him in Texas back in 83 or 84. He was the coolest guy in the room. If you think you are ready for him, you’re not. And he is one of the most honest people I’ve ever met.
@@hailboognish3858 , Trent wasn’t his protege. He didn’t really like him at all. Trent is good. But he isn’t the icon of that music. I went to school with the guys from Pantera.... but before Darrell was listening to Ministry... they played Stryper like music. There’s only one AL... and he’s pissed them all off... but they can’t deny... He is the reason for that sound and soul.
@@toddmorris1858 I meant more like he learned at the foot of the master, took what he learned and ran with it even farther than Ministry. I know about the Pantera history, they took a look around and decided to change rather than fade out. Cemetery Gates is amazing at the end but that whole album is fairly annoying. They put on a great show but were never in my top 10 and I resented all the media attention that was focused on them and Metallica.

If I could, I'd go to a Hawks game with him, talk about Chicago and what he missed from there (bars, restaurants, White Sox, Hawks, etc.), and shoot the shit about ANYTHING but Wax Trax, TLORAH, Psalm 69, drugs, etc.. He seems like such a chill guy...like a bottle of Thunderbird that aged with Napa or Boudreaux grapes. He is one of my "music you never forget" guys from my youth.
I can respect when an artist says he or she didn’t enjoy recording an album but I must say AL’s early stuff is what brought him much success and stardom. I saw an interview recently where he states he will at some point re-release an Album featuring reinterpreted tracks from “With Sympathy”. I can appreciate that he is finally recognizing just how much we fans love that album and early Ministry tracks. Come back to Houston , TX Soon!

The best AJ interview I've ever seen. Al is clearly a brilliant thinker. He gets the pyramid scheme/oligarchy. He's rebuilt Ministry with a great crew: Sin. Cesar. Tony. John.. awesome thrashers. Look forward to to even more new albums. He's been saying f**k you to the system all the way to Land of Rape & Honey. I got Mind is a Terrible handed to me on a CD when I was out skateboarding and it awakened my whole musical direction. Al.. you're still a viking god.

What a nice guy!! Round about 30 years ago I read in a calalogue i used to order CDs about a band that I didn't know at that time. There was written: "... the highest grade of musical brutality, the perfect soundtrack for your mutant comics...". I also didn't know, what "mutant comics" were, but I ordered "In Case You didn't feel like showing up" - and since then till this day I am a huge fan of Ministry (and Lard). I wish him all the best and to stay healthy and awake he seems to be in this great interview.
I’ve recently been digging Ministry. I remember rockin out to, “ NWO, “ when I was a teenager. As for the band, their sound and uniqueness is Awesome! By sound, the help to define pure metal. This being said, I typically ignore political commentary from “ celebrities. “ I’m definitely going to ignore this video, after only a minute into it. I’m 100% pro-America, and 100% against Fascism, as well as Socialism. 30 years ago, you wouldn’t have a person running for office of POTUS, under the label of Socialism. I’m not completing this video, and simply going to enjoy the music. I don’t need a celebrity to think for me.
I came here after watching the Fix documentary, long version here on youtube, again. Saw it 10 years ago and it still amazes me how there are humans like Al that even though they take more than anybody and outlast all wars, they are still that creative and iconic. Like he said in the doc that William Burroughs and Timothy Leary were more of a dad then his dad. Some people are built to inspire and carry the clarity through all the haze and insanity.
That was a really great interview with Al that you did there, George. If you're ever in Vancouver and need an interview space for a band, please feel free to use my ghetto-swank pad. Cheers dude!
That was awesome. The Land of Rape and Honey changed my life. Not through its lyrics, it was the music, the controlled chaos and the energy. I've been writing & recording music since high school in the early 80's and there's a very clear demarcation in my approach & results post-Rape and Honey that lasts to this day, in May 2023, 5 years after this video was released.
@@Ray_Koren Reading your name brought back one of my fondest memories. I fell in love with the most sensitive spirited gay Korean while living in Daegu Province. My grandmother, bless her heart, was half Korean. And she told me stories of her home town, Daegu, when I was a child. Born and raised in Finland, one can imagine how a child's imagination would bloom with vivid colors while listening to their grandmother speak of an exotic landscape free from freezing weather and having more colors than just blinding white snow. Telling you about the man I fell in love with is the subject, and he was and extraordinarily shy young man. To me, his shy quietness was a sign of our different cultures, and I wouldn't dream of making advances towards him. I learned a lot about patience from living in Finland. Close to 6-months passed before my quiet friend, 'came out'. However, I didn't understand that in South Korea, "coming out," is a term used by North Korean defectors telling a person about their original origin for the first time. His story was the most incredibly sad one I believe could ever be told. He explained how he was raised from birth in an opulent villa with a promenade leading to North Korea's, Palace of The Gods. From childhood until "rebirth," he was brainwashed into believing the current God on earth had chosen him to be an ascended servant. On the date of Rīn's rebirth, he was taken to the palace, cleansed, and left alone inside a small private room. Shortly after, Rīn, was greeted by a man who meticulously taught him what his purpose for God would be. After which, Rīn, witnessed the man commit ritual suicide. Finally, Rīn, understood his life's purpose! Everyone in the world understood their Dear Leader and God, Kim Jung-ill, never had bowel movements, because a God doesn't have an anus to shit from. My friend, Rīn. Spent 14yrs wiping Kim Jung-ill's rectum and anus as clean as a whistle. We never made love due to the trauma he escaped. Thank you, Gay Korean, for reminding me of my lost love.
Holy shit I can't believe I just watched this. Al is a real guy and has some amazing stuff to say.. Time do dust off some old Ministry, and check out the some of the new stuff too.
Because he was a whore for the industry when he made those albums, and comprised his own creativity in the process. That goes against literally everything he stands for. He prefers to leave those days in the past.
Yeah it’s comical that he thinks the right are the fascists in America. The left has been the ones trying to dictate speech and what can or can’t be said .. Al is stuck in the 80s lol
He just brings to light what history has spilled out and that - no matter what your political affiliation is you can't deny what has happened with government and politics. I think he has nailed it how what happened in Germany in the ww2 era is happening now! Misinformation and fear fuel the machine....
3/31 Ministry in Chicago, here I come. I'd love a cup of coffee or tea with Al to learn what I can do to execute change for women in all industries. But, experiencing Ministry live will be grand enough and the perfect ending to March madness.
Cyst has been removed, but it was cancerous but he is so correct on this because we never got it tested or addressed the issues that caused it. Cancer is still there and next time the cyst is going to be bigger. I love Al.
Mr. Strombo, you are a great interviewer...I’d put you right up there with Larry King, Barbra Walters, Megan Kelly, Pierce Morgan, Bill O’Reilly & Howard Stern...you really are excellent and ur choice to interview Uncle Al is like beyond fabulous....I didn’t realize Al was this fucking cool....thnx man!!!!
Would to have met him in the late 70s,early 80s.....then meet him now. He really comes as a cross as very well adjusted, especially as he's gone though some crazy times
Al had his past musically, chemically etc..regardless, Al J is one of the smartest well-informed artists out there! If you were to debate Al on anything political- you better bring your 'A' game. To explain where we are as a country, the world; its clear we need to wake up and I'm happy to hear that lesson from Al. I would love to watch the news for a day with Mr. Jorgensen, jam some music and go to a hockey game.
Escuchado poco de el Mr al jourgensen pero me parece un tipo muy original y su música pero no se lo que le a pasado la fama el orgullo y al final en lo personal las adiciones 😢te vuelven loco larga vida a al jourgensen y ministry❤
Al is a cool guy and all, but he is very mislead when it comes to politics. I would take anything he said as fact, because when you know more about what he's talking about, it becomes more clear that he doesnt have all the info that it takes to make such claims. MY biggest issues with what he said is that voting for a system where your vote doesnt count is usless. He says that the system is a sham, then sayd go and vote. Doesnt make sense Al. Also he makes it seem like the left/liberals are all about education and the right isnt. If what the left is pumping out of schools and Colleges is education, Then I am Elvis Presley.
Underneath all that stuff, Uncle Al is still a very handsome man!! He is a divine pleasure to listen to....Al certainly lends new meaning to the old adage: “Don’t judge a book by its cover”. Cuz he is uniquely intelligent and quite the articulate philosopher...I seriously believe Alejandro Ramirez Jourgensen could potentially be an excellent commander and chief. Maybe when he retires in like 8 or 10 years, he can take a gander at running...I would definitely vote for Al Jourgensen to be our next president or when he’s ready after he retires the greatest band in the world MINISTRY....Next Project must be Revco, Lard & another Surgical Meth Machine!!!
Finally a musician that isn't just going along with the neo liberal agenda. Amerikkkant is great, tracks like antifa and victims of a clowm are prpbably some of my favourites from ministry.
@@billriddle9215 Damn Bill! But yes, you are very correct in that assumption. Love Al and Ministry - but his partisanship and failure to criticize the excesses of the left is so absurd. The way he licked Obama's ass was cringe.
Yes he was... Al is no more awake than the people hes often in protest of... The problem is rabid statism... What political party is painted as the face of said statism is irrelevant... Check out Mark Passio and his band The Founders sometime. You might like them. For high quality audio files you will have to go to his site though. Google The Founders Band....
You are so far from an understanding of whats going on that im not even going to waste my time... All i have to say is no masters, no slaves.... @Potwheelz
@Potwheelz Why was Obama bad? Hmmm... Lets see.... Trying to disarm American citizens. Passing NDAA (originally called Patriot Act Part 2). Bombing multiple countries without congressional approval. Fast and furious program. Execution of a US citizen via a predator drone. NSA spying. I can go on.... Am i still coping out?
@Potwheelz Americans need to be disarmed so the mass murderers working for the state can what? Murder more people? Have the military put their guns down first. Then we can discuss disarming the American people.
@Potwheelz What was corrupt about Obama? Ahem *Clears Throat* lemme see, where do I start? Let's start with the fact that he had a kill list which allowed him to use drones to target innocent civilians both foreign AND domestic, without trial or judgement? A Plan which he executed for most of the latter half of his presidency! Want more? P.S I love how you liberals conveniently ignore all your politicians bad selling points! I'm not a Trump lover either. But this BS that one is more or less corrupt than the other is incredibly shallow polar political blindness.
Alex Jones got the drunk Al and you got the sober Al, both interviews are good and I'm happy that Al is living healthier but honestly he's much funnier when he's drunk.
But he’s wrong in terms of fascism .. for the past however many years it’s the left that are fascist and want to force you say certain things and now to certain groups or ye be canceled. The right has fascist pockets but they don’t have the cultural power like the left
When did Al go woke? If you're riffing on the same rhetoric people have been hung up on since the 60's maybe it's time for a bit of self reflection and a dive into developmental and evolutionary psychology.
Uncle Al 🗽keeps killing it. Music with a purpose and a message while🌪🌊 kicking☄️💥 ass taking names !Hope he is doing music at 100 . Great Man, Myth and Legend. He has been denouncing "FASCISM" for the past 30 years, yet all his records are still available and he's never been jailed for his work. Who are you kidding, Al? Without capitalism and other Western Values, you would not have a music career that spans decades.
LOVE this guy! People tend to knock him for his politics, but all of that aside, it is near impossible to deny that Al Jourgensen has created some of the BEST music in the last few decades. RESPECT from Chiraq, Al ...(I remember the Wolcott & Iowa days!!)

first al was against globalism and now he is for it ! still love the old work ,
Keep it up unc , been with you since the beginning, and your candidness is refreshing, MINISTRY FOREVER
This is brilliant and spot on🎉❤
Way he never talk about his early years and the 2 first Albums! Fans of synthpop and new wave we need to hear about that!
Because he was a whore for the industry when he made those albums, and comprised his own creativity in the process. That goes against literally everything he stands for. He prefers to leave those days in the past.
@@-Zer0Dark- That's too bad .. Way better music ...... Sad....
It's amazing how eloquently he explains how much he doesn't understand. 😂🤣
Al has a degree in History
@@natalyawoop4263 🤣😂👍
Pretty much described himself. Lives in a echo chamber & is part of the 1%
Thank you!
Cyst has been removed, but it was cancerous but he is so correct on this because we never got it tested or addressed the issues that caused it. Cancer is still there and next time the cyst is going to be bigger. I love Al.
I almost thought Uncle Al was lost to the booze and opiates, my faith is restored. Very thoughtful interview that only the Strombo can conjure.
Yes! This is brilliant!
Just News I didn’t order any extra-crazy nuggets. What fry bin did you pop out of, special sauce?
I love ministry thanx to my alcoholic parents 😀
Now it's too real for them to listen. 🤘🏽
Al is so interesting and intelligent! I'd could listen to him talk all day
Dino Francis Really....I get Howard stern but the rest of them as interviewer's are not good
Thanks to both for letting us taste your minds
My brother! love the music so much more now ,it is so poignant of the time
So nice to see a sober, coherent Al. Great interview. Wish he was my actual uncle. Lol
This is sick. Thank you for this.
The best interview I’ve ever seen with Uncle Al. Great job.
Great interview. So often done by people who have no real connection to who they are talking to.
Great Interview.
One of the most beautiful man to ever grace the earth
If what the left is pumping out of schools and Colleges is education, Then I am Elvis Presley.
still waiting for the obama/hillary record trilogy...
Al is a very intelligent man. I don't agree with all of his points but he is well spoken and far from what you expect from a burnout.
@John southern hence, why I said I didn't agree with all of his points.
Fantastic interview.
PUTZ
He thinks our problems can be solved by voting lol.
Al seems nicer than ever, more open, like he's not under a blanket of anything affecting his mood.
Finally a musician that isn't just going along with the neo liberal agenda. Amerikkkant is great, tracks like antifa and victims of a clowm are prpbably some of my favourites from ministry.
You haven't heard much have you?
@@billriddle9215 Damn Bill! But yes, you are very correct in that assumption. Love Al and Ministry - but his partisanship and failure to criticize the excesses of the left is so absurd. The way he licked Obama's ass was cringe.
fantastic bloke, a pillar of innovative music
Thank you for your support for women, Al!
Obama was immune to Als criticism.
Fucking love AL. Love this interview. Thanks for it
That was great.
Dopeshit, literally the first word that I heard when resuming the video after the last comment was "patriarch"!
Al is cool as hell. I bet hes got some great party stories.
I have the same feelings about our political climate in this country as Al does. He's pretty spot on .
But he’s wrong in terms of fascism .. for the past however many years it’s the left that are fascist and want to force you say certain things and now to certain groups or ye be canceled. The right has fascist pockets but they don’t have the cultural power like the left
This is so very cool....thanks for sharing Mr. Interview Guy!!
When did Al go woke? If you're riffing on the same rhetoric people have been hung up on since the 60's maybe it's time for a bit of self reflection and a dive into developmental and evolutionary psychology.
Wow, not only does AL look great, but his mind is great too!!
Uncle Al 🗽keeps killing it. Music with a purpose and a message while🌪🌊 kicking☄️💥 ass taking names !Hope he is doing music at 100 . Great Man, Myth and Legend. Best Al interview I have seen and I have been following and watching since Rape and Honey&🤯🤘🏻🤘🏼🤘🏽🤘🏾🤘🏿💀👻☠️👽👾🤖🤠👹😱😵🤡👿👺🎃💂🏿♀️💃🏼🕺🏼🦦🐉🦥🦩🌞🌚🪐🎼🕳🩸💉🌡💉♉️♋️
I just enjoyed Ministry last week here in Toronto...What a great concert!!!
Great interview. Love Al, but what's going on with his upper right canine tooth?
lmao that's gotta be some shit he added like a fake nail kinda thing or something.
They are fang caps.
They make glueable and you can get permanent ones.
one of the greatest shills ever pushed by an alphabet agency
The irony of Al claiming to be "informed".
Al Jourgensen is a phenomenon! From his music down to his views on politics, life etc... True wisdom...
Lol, he's literally describing what leftists are doing and saying "the right" while he does it.
For all the drugs and debauchery Al's lived through he still has his intellect and is putting out music with some substance .
Respect Al forever. Love this.
