Sometimes I don’t even care and just grab the dvd if it’s 2 bucks at the thrift store, I just love movies the quality isn’t bothering me as much as it used to , I used to really care but now I’m just like whatever lol
When you actually watch DVDs, you release the he difference isn’t that noticeable I lea you are looking for it hahaha I’m the same I don’t care too much, I still watch vhs, I mostly upgrade cause so much stuff goes out of print faster now it seems
I honestly think 4k is the last stop for home video at least for a very long time. I see the restoration and scanning technology will get better so we may see rereleases of earlier 4ks like we did with Blu-ray and dvd.
There's also this glass ceiling that nobody really talks about when it comes to picture quality and that's the human eye itself. We have a limit of what our eyes can process and the 4K level is almost right there. If we go to 8K movies it might be pointless cause if the human eye can't process to appreciate what it is then we shouldn't keep going. I believe 4K could be the end of the road for media quality.
Sudden Death, Dragon: the bruce lee story, far and away, risky business, heathers, & stardust...all bought in the last 12 months...all got upgraded to 4k. All already upgraded in my collection or pre ordered. It's a sickness man.

I upgraded faculty as well, and it came with a 4K digital copy through Apple… I’m not upgrading to the 4K physical because it doesn’t make sense until it’s cheap, great video as always 🙌🏼
It happens to me rarely. Im always checking Amazon and other sites for DVDs and Blurays. Course it ends with 1080p for me so I hardly run into that upgrade problem

Also, comedies are coming to 4k finally because they're scraping the bottom of the barrel for upgrades in most other genres. Sadly, they never want to show the comedy genre any love, but I'm happy they're getting love right now.
The market is becoming somewhat predictable. If a new movie gets a blu ray only release, there’s a good chance it will get a foreign 4K release or a US 4K six months to a year later. Movies getting new sequels are also likely to get a 4K release, like we saw with Twister and I predict we’ll get Tron/Tron Legacy 4K next year with the new release. Demolition Man was a pleasant surprise though, didn’t see that one coming!

I see how this would suck if all your upgrade’s were brand new purchases from retail stores. Luckily it’s not a huge financial blow to me because I thrift all my Blu-ray’s for like $2 or less.

😂 Lmao, so Chase at AVA keeps telling me how he's waiting to get In The Mouth of Madness on 4K. I picked up the regular Blu-ray for like 10 bucks and I'm more than happy with it. I look at what sales at a good price that's why I now have copies of every kind of physical copy of same of my favorite anime films like Akira and Ghost In the Shell. I don't need everything in 4K from DVD that I have been collecting for over 25 years.
Despite possibly calling it an 'upgrade' , no way do i settle for the 1 current format of 4K alone. I want and keep the Bluray still. Same when it comes to getting the Blu-ray. I keep the DVD still.

To be fair, Kino announced originally crybaby in late 2021 and it was announced for a 4K so we knew it was coming. Also, it looks like a lot of of these ones coming to 4k the original Blu-ray release you had was a studio release. It was probably cheap so that’s good news.

Releases are announced on 4K that I have on Blu-ray. I use that as a thinking time. If I really enjoy the movie, I’m gonna get the 4K especially if it has all the bonus features carried over. If I decide I’m not interested in the 4K release and I just lost interest in the movie. I don’t pick it up. Regardless either way, I always try to get rid of the Blu-ray anymore because it’s not needed anymore, unless there’s some great extras on there they’re not carried over
I hate when youtubers say to buy something before it sells out, I would watch films at home aka Jeff Rauseo channel and every time he would say buy this movie before it becomes oop they would come out on 4k so I unsubscribed

I got hit with the 4K curse earlier in the year with UHF. The DAY I received the blu-ray from Amazon, Shout announced the 4K. I was like, "Really?!?" I'm actually planning on getting Demolition Man from Arrow as a belated birthday present to myself as my birthday is in late November and it's coming out on Dec. 10th. Billy Madison & Happy Gilmore are also going to be purchases for me when Kino releases them. Also read from a comment from Kino themselves on Facebook in reply to someone, there are also plans for Uncle Buck and Sneakers to both get 4K's. Sneakers is one of that's a definite purchase.

I've had Demolition Man on dvd for years. It's one of my favorites but I just never got around to upgrading. Well recently I found myself really in the mood to rewatch it and decided I'd finally just buy the blu-ray. Literally 4 days later they announced the 4k. I only paid 10 bucks too and honestly that's one I may just upgrade anyway but it still pisses me off.
Between new movies low-key being ons of fun or really good, (Deadpool and wolverine and wild robot, aline romulus, and so forth, plus oldies getting remasters in 4k, sleepy hollow, ted, other movies, very exciting, but youch, I cant stop hahaha.
This is why I stay away from buying Blu-rays now (unless I’m pretty sure a movie isn’t popular enough to get an upgrade) because there’s a high chance there will be an upgrade. I want Abigail but I’m sure it’ll be upgraded, I want Wednesday and Chucky series but I’m 70% sure they’ll have a 4K version at some point. I will upgrade my old Blu-rays if I had them for years. I also look at it as fun, if a person can afford it and if a person likes the movie then I say go for it.

I have been holding off on Demolition Man but I got my pre-order in for it. Dante's Peak is another I have been meaning to add but glad I haven't yet. I will get the 4K. Cry Baby is another I don't have but need to get the 4K. American Hustle I had the Blu-ray for quite a long time. I was able to get the 4K steelbook new for $20 and happy with the upgrade. I had the Conan movies for years and glad I upgraded to the 4K. Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison I have had for years as well but will get the 4K. Because so much is coming to 4K I have really slowed down in purchasing Blu-rays anymore.
I have really cut back on double dipping The only time i do now is if I buy a DVD for $1 from a charity shop and really enjoy the movie I;ll keep an eye out for a cheap Blu ray copy

But I'm probably still going to get it man on 4K eventually just because I want the boutique treatment. But trick or treat already got that boutique treatment from screen factory. Imprint releases are really nice though. I didn't get the imprint because the movie is so crazy I don't know how much I'm going to watch it. I might rewatch it and then decide if I want the 4K. Ashley Judd is so good in that movie. I'd like to see her in a good movie.

I have gotten a few movies in 4k where the new steel book or slipcover package isn't the original art. Still, I will often come with the original art on the actual 4k casing (excluding steel books), and other people comment on review videos with massive negativity. Makes no sense. Sure, some of the new art isn't great, but for the most part, it's pretty good, and if you don't like it! Still comes with original art. Crazy IK. Change bad.... Why do you think there is such hate towards new art in 4k releases of older movies? Is it deserved? If so, why? Your just advertising these new 4k films over blu ray your just saying all of this as a story that you bought the blu ray it's a tactical way of advertising other than doing a 4k unboxing and review on them come on where not all that dumb. we all buy these blu ray films and behold it comes to 4k it always happen even with dvd films when we had the new fad on blu ray format back in the day it's nothing new. Sure, some of the new art isn't great, but for the most part, it's pretty good, and if you don't like it! Still comes with original art. Crazy IK. Change bad.... Why do you think there is such hate towards new art in 4k releases of older movies? Is it deserved? If so, why? Are there enough cases of bad releases regarding new art, or is it simply because it's strictly exclusive to the original artwork?

Your just advertising these new 4k films over blu ray your just saying all of this as a story that you bought the blu ray it's a tactical way of advertising other than doing a 4k unboxing and review on them come on where not all that dumb. we all buy these blu ray films and behold it comes to 4k it always happen even with dvd films when we had the new fad on blu ray format back in the day it's nothing new. Your even advertising the demolition man new 4k film release by using the picture on the tv at the background. It's your job this is what your getting paid to do advertising doing any trick in the book youtube is just another advertising way to try and sell you something
