      Especially with gloves on too, you're almost always better off using bare hands because you might feel the danger before it's too late. Gloves can catch in pulleys and drill presses, etc. and then your whole hand follows it in.

    No surprise he made it as far as he did! The best vehicle I've ever had in the snow was my '06 STI with Blizzaks. It was truly unstoppable and would just plow through snow. I've never even come close to driving anything else through 2.5 feet of snow like I did in that Scoob. The only reason I got stuck was because I backed in my driveway and it jacked up the rear end and sat it up on the underbody. Man, I miss that freakin car! 🤣

  • @schafn
    @schafn 8 місяців тому +9

    To be fair to Fred, any small truck with a decent amount of power and good tires is going to out-do a one-ton dually in the snow. Duallies are notoriously bad in the snow since you have four fat tires in the back trying to plow through the deep stuff. Plus Fred probably weighs twice as much as Hillbilly's truck so it wants to sink in rather than float on top.
    As to getting stuck: We always had two categories for this back in my off-roading days. You were either stuck or you were temporarily immobilized. Stuck is when you need to get outside assistance to get moving again. Temporarily immobilized is when you stop moving, but are able to get back on the trail without getting pulled out. You might have to dig or rock back and forth for a while but if you can get yourself out you're not stuck.

    Nice work getting it off the mountain. 2 clips and zip ties is an interesting way to secure a bumper cover. 42:19 Colton, you need to be careful around winches. Came pretty close to being pulley food. Since you weren't working the winch things could have gone badly for your right hand between your yell and Robbie's stopping the winch. That would have left a mark. Though UA-camrs joke about it, attention to safety needs to job one.

    Too much blow, tack and static meaning..., snark and sarcasm is not banter.. too much emphasis on childish two-way conversation, not enough on the tasks at hand. From a personal stand point, the content premise and main purpose of this channel has all but lost its focus, it's has evolved into something totally different, not necessarily in a good way. As a suggestion it's probably a good time as any to start off the new year to reflect back to the early days of this channel and look for ways to improve quality entertainment not only to retain subscribers but to attract more.

In Europe people drive in these kind of conditions with Subarus, Quattro, xdrives etc. Unless the snow is so deep it warrants an suv, awd sedan will easily make up hills like that. The snow honestly didn't seem too deep except for that one corner. The benefit of awd sedans is that they're a lot lighter than suvs so that helps.

I turned around and offered to help him in my XJ, he didn't want to be pulled out because my vehicle had GA tags. It was my rock crawler lifted, lockers and setup. My response was Merry Christmas and I turned around in front of his stuck car drove through the snow in the ditch and left, heading back to hospital where my mother was.
