Once you criminally charge these people, you have to put them in jail until they face trial, pay for their housing, pay for healthcare while they're incarcerated, pay for public defendants, pay for all the courts and lawyers prosecuting them, in which they are just deported anyway. It's an enormous waste of money for the same result. They could be deported 24x for the same amount of money it costs dragging them through the court system. quitting smoking is next to impossible. many years back i got some weird heart issue that had doctors across the country puzzled and no one could really figure out what happened. it spooked me so much that i just stopped smoking that instant, knowing its bad for the heart. now years later, i never had an issue with my heart anymore, but tbh im not sure if slowly but surely that heart-scare saved my life in the long run. weird how things go in life sometimes...
