I'm originally from the south but have lived up north most of my life. Soon I'll be heading back down south, probably NC where I have family, and I'll be voting conservative.

Just glad they welcome newcomers these days. Way back in the day, it wasn't so easy. We were not welcome and the whole town would make sure you knew it.

Sorry guys but my sister-in-law and her husband did this a year ago. Sold their house in Colorado for $700,000 and bought a brand new one in N. Carolina for $435,000, paid cash and banked the over. It's coming, the Commiefornians have been doing this to us for decades.

My wife and I have worked hard all our lives, I’ve been in construction since I graduated high school. My wife and I have been together since then. We raised a daughter, payed for her education, payed off our house, saved our entire adult lives for our retirement. We have a beautiful home in an amazing spot. Since we built this home in 1999 our property taxes have increased 500 %!! I am 60 and I look at what the cost is to live in Vermont and there is no way we will retire here, it’s just to expensive. We don’t know where we will go but it sure won’t be the North East.
Our state government is completely out of touch with reality, they are currently trying to pass another 28% increase!
You can get a 3 br. - 2 1/2 bath, w/ inclosed garage on an acre here in ‘Bama for around 200 - 250k, but we don’t cotton to Yankees…especially CA & NY Yankees.

People pay what the market will tolerate meaning buyers will pay what they want to pay for a house it’s not they are being told what a property is worth they pay what they want to pay if their offer comes in too low it may be tossed for higher offers. When properties sell the sales price is public info so anyone in the world with internet can see what’s particular property sold for.
Anything is worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

Here in the USA we call it Capitalism, what things cost is relative to how much people want them. If you are selling a house in NH for a million that is comparable to a house in SC for a quater million then people are more willing to pay big to live in NH than in SC. It has been that way in this country for 248 years now.

I moved from CT to Florida. Traded my 50 yr old house for new construction 10 minutes from the beach, 1,000 sq ft larger, 3 full bedroom suites with walk in showers, 3 car garage and saved $. Plus with no state income tax I gave myself a huge pay raise.
Tennessee is similar. Wife and I live in Colorado. Purchased our house in 2007 for 137k. Because of the rising market here and the legalization in 2010 and the subsequent flood of people moving here, our house is now appraising at 506k. We found 8 acres with a large pond and a 4 bedroom 2 story for 285k about 45 minutes from Nashville. That is a no brainer. Whereever we move, we will not bring BS to your state. We are Normal folks.

My parents and I owned houses next door to each other in Washington state, we sold both 840 square foot houses on 5000 square foot lots for 300k each, we bought 8 acres with 4 houses 1500sf, 1100sf, 900sf and 600sf in east Texas for… 165k paying the same amount on taxes.
There is a big difference between living in a Democrat state and a Republican state, so thankful to be back in Texas after 40 years of living on the west coast cesspool of degradation.
