“You can’t push darkness out, you can only grow light”. 1:00:14 that really hit me. Thank you Liz, I needed to hear that to stop the resistance and focus on the light I can grow.
Ikigai (生き甲斐, pronounced [ikiɡai]) is a Japanese concept that means "a reason for being." It is similar to the French phrase Raison d'être. Everyone, according to Japanese culture, has an ikigai. Finding it requires a deep and often lengthy search of self. Such a search is important to the cultural belief that discovering one's ikigai brings satisfaction and meaning to life.
If we can start our routine life every day and every second count. Then why can't we start our lives at any time. Age, time and circumstances doesn't stop us. Go out and explore your self. Nothing gonna stop you.accept change and take risk. Cheers to Elizabeth Gilbert.
Agreed. You have to be able to take care of yourself. I think that your creative work suffers not when you make money with your craft, but when you HAVE to struggle to make money with your craft.
Hello Elizabeth Gilbert just want to let u know that Eat Pray Love is an amazing book I know I've said this before but I've never picked up a book to until I got this one ,now I cant stop reading your books I will hunt down all your books to read ,you are such an amazing woman so please keep writing those amazing book ,I want to thank you for being u ,sending kindness and love again thank u Tina from Hamilton 🤗🦋🌈❤
Creativity or art doesn't have to be painting or music or writing one can put art in anything, in taking a shower, in plumbing even. Couldn't agree more about the utmost importance of creativity.
Hi liz just wanted to tell u I've read Eat Pray love and Big Magic and now I just purchased City of Girls and ordered Committed cant wait to read them all lol u are amazing and I adore u ❤Tina from Hamilton
+Donna Reese Me too. Came across as insensitive and disrespectful though it seemed more led by the other woman who I'm not familiar with. Otherwise, a lovely interview. Liz Gilbert is very warm and inspiring.
It did. Professional speakers might have a better way of working with people who stir up chaos than name calling. (If you know you're crazy sit down. - My misquote, but that was the gist.)The other woman is Ann Patchett, a close friend of Gilbert's. Patchett wrote 'Bel Canto.' I enjoy learning from both of them. A disappointing moment from here.
Great interview. The interviewer was horrible. She should get her Chakra's in order before interviewing someone who has something valuable to offer the world.
LOL. The 'interviewer' is Ann Patchett, incredible writer with an amazing voice. Her writing has offered me, and so many others, so much. She's a dear friend of Liz's, and Liz writes about her in her book Big Magic. Just because you don't see the gifts that Ann has for the world, that doesn't entitle you to declare that she has none.
I usually dont respond or write anything on youtube. I wish that you read my comment correctly before commenting yourself. Firstly there is much to gain from this interview, it has tons of value! I said what I said because there were a number of times Ann cut Liz off. The audience including the people at the venue, at home, and streaming, wanted to hear liz complete her scentence's. I NEVER said that a person didn't have value, thats ignorant and hateful. And yes, I heard during the interview they are great friends, maybe that's why Ann felt so comfortable cutting liz off.
Very insensitive interview at times, mainly from Ann Patchett or whatever her name is. She is big ego and small soul, and totally out of touch with reality.
Creative persons living to connect with the internal use strategic profanity to cement a point, because theyre not concerned with the approval of the external......and I LOVE that about her.
currently watching EVERY liz gilbert interview ever, love the energy in this one!
Absolutely fabulous. So many wonderful insights and not only for writers.

I legit started crying out of gratitude when they sang together, I just love and adore Liz Gilbert so much ❤

What I admire about you is you are real and not give a hoot what others think but you are staying true to you no matter what....you go, girl!
The advice she gave around 1:06:00 is so invaluable. Liz Gilbert is a lovely, inspiring human being.

+Donna Reese Thanks Donna.
She lets her drop the name. Bad friend.
Same here :(
Who is the interviewer??
I don't know why but I could notice some sort of 'hostility' from the interviewer towards Elizabeth Gilbert...
Liz is how Taylor Swift will mature.

Ann patchette is so rigid and linear in her thinking and in processing what Liz is saying and it's really hindering this interview
Why the profanity?
i. zak Dramatic effect
