    This is a much older video that may be playing on an earlier edition of the rules, but it’s worth noting that that interaction at 18:33 can’t happen. After you decide which peril you are attempting, you may ONLY roll the dice of that color. This means you cannot make black heroic dice using dice of other colors.
    Playing the App version of ODD really helps solidify some of the overlooked mechanics.

      correct, rules state: "In a peril check, each hero only rolls dice
      matching the color of the chosen option."

    Two big issues: Both at 30:20 (and at other times during the play-through). 1) Your wife rolls a 1 and then re-rolls it with your skill that allows partners to re-roll. Problem is you re-rolled TWICE. You can only re-roll ONCE. Per the rules on the One Deck Dungeon website: Q: "Can I use free skills more than once?
    A: "Each skill may only be used once per encounter, even if you can pay for it more than once."
    2) Whenever you use the thief's Daring Gamble skill, if you roll a 1 you MUST take the penalty of 1 heart and 3 time loss: Q: "Can I use skills to re-roll dice to avoid Split, Ethereal, Weakness Curse, or the penalty for Daring Gamble?"
    A: "No. These effects happen immediately after rolling dice." Therefore you would have lost the game at that point since she had 3 hearts and only 4 life. Otherwise, great playthrough. It's a great game!

      Agreed! Part of the reason my wife and I liked it so much. It is a challenge yet, it is not just a dice rolling game there is some thinking involved as well. Just wish I would have done the Peril's correctly as that would drastically change this playthrough. Excited to start the campaign now!

      Meh, mistakes like you were making with the perils are how you learn a new game...it's just part of the process. You can't expect to get everything right in your first few games.

    I know some places it turns into some debate about art or some kind of "-ism", but yes I make a point to looking at the art of a game I'm planning to purchase. Because it's important to the ladies I play games with. They like having the female avatar and they dislike when said avatar looks like a woman of ill repute.
    So this is pretty cool. Also as an old rpg-er I have a soft spot for dungeon crawl games, but sometimes don't feel like getting out something with a ton plastic minis especially if it's just me playing. I think this might be the first card crawl that has a campaign mode.

  • @wesleyjones4695
    @wesleyjones4695 6 років тому +1

    Finally got my copy via 2nd kickstarter and watching your video to learn! The Shadow makes you spend a time to use a skill. At about 13:50, you spent a time and rolled the Heroic die. This is not a skill so I am confused why you spent a time--you didn't use a skill. What am I missing?

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  6 років тому

      Ahh yes, I think this was because of the effect of the enemy that stated you must spend a time for each heroic die rolled. Sorry it is hard to see. Monica and I will be doing a new playthrough in the next week or so of this one!!
      Also I have an annotation about this, but in case you missed it, for Peril's you ONLY roll dice that match the type of Peril it is. For example. If the Peril is an agility test, only agility dice can be rolled. We rolled all of them which is wrong. Have fun!! We love this game!

    • @wesleyjones4695
      @wesleyjones4695 6 років тому +1

      It hardly matters now, but the enemy states that you must spend a time for each SKILL you use, not heroic die rolled (you even state this at 13:27).

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  6 років тому

  • @steftymo
    @steftymo 7 років тому +20

    After your first combat you forgot to lose 3 time. Also everytime you attempted to beat a peril you rolled all your dice. I believe you can only roll the colour that matches the test you have chosen. You would have died several times earlier in the game.

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  7 років тому +7

      Thanks Stefan for catching that! The first miss of time happens, but I cannot believe I missed that rule for Perils! And we still lost! I may need to make a new video as this would drastically effect the outcome of this game. For now I have placed an annotation on the video. Looks like campaign mode is going to be needed to beat the higher level dungeons!

    • @StinkyWizleteets

    • @dalt992

      @@StinkyWizleteets Not true. The dice are separate for everything except for combining. From the Official Web page: "You and your partner can each contribute a die together to create a heroic die. In this case, choose which player adds the new die."

    On your first fight against the Shadow, you could have made two Black 1's by combining the yellow 3 and 1 as well as the two blue 1's. Then you could've made 10 with the 6, 2 that you didn't use and these two black 1's allowing you to use the black 4 on one of the other blocks.

    I noticed you rolled all the dice when playing a peril encounter. The instructions say to ONLY roll the color of die for the peril you choose. i.e. if you choose an agility path, then you ONLY roll purple die. If you choose a strength path, you ONLY roll yellow. That may be why you had such an easy time at the beginner and intermediate level dungeons.
