Back when I was kid I was watching an episode of the talk show Donahue(remember this was when you only had a choice of like 6 OTA stations). That days story was about a Canadian couple who kept ~600 homeless cats in their 3 story house. The husband worked a job that paid well enough so that they could afford to have the wife stay home and take care of the cats full time and pay for all the food, litter, and vet bills. The woman said there were 25 litter boxes that she changed 3 times a day(I think this was before scoopable litter was invented). They had a camera crew walk through the house, and while the wife did indeed keep the house clean, 600 is WAY too many cats to have even in a large 3 story house. There were cats literally everywhere. Cats and dogs all need their own territory where they can be alone, and there was nowhere a cat could go to be alone. Their hearts were in the right place, but I really hope someone saw that and got proper homes for those cats.
I thought the rule of thumb was N + 1 for the number of litter boxes. So 1 cat = 2 and 2 cats = 3

I never had more than 1 cat at a time and only had 1 litter box too that I would check in the morning and evening.The most animals I have ever had in my life is 1 dog, 1 cat, and 2 outdoor raccoons in a huge walk-in cage that we rescued as infants that the mother abandoned. I'm pretty sure the woman said 25 litter boxes, but I am working from my memory of an event from around 45 years ago, so I wouldn't bet my life on that memory. ;-)

Manufactured and Modular homes. Manufactured homes are Trailer homes with a steel frame and wheels, and Modular homes require a crane to place on a traditional Slab or basement. Modular homes can cost the same as a traditional stick built but you can have a Modular home from dirt plot to basement-ed and move in finished in 90 days and usually above code. Modular homes will cost you the same but you will get it faster than Hiring a contractor to do about the same level. You do have to be careful cause some Modular home builders make Manufacture homes that can be treated in the same fashion as a Modular home but they're still the roll in with a truck making them classify as a Manufactured home. Even though Manufacture homes aren't the same as they were 20-30 years ago those old laws are still on the books.

Trying to save in the cost of construction of a house only places more money in the pockets of real estate agencies. Or do you think if they could build a house for $20,000 that a real estate or construction firm would sell it for $30,000? No, what would happen is that the companies that build and sell the houses would charge the same amount that people pay already.
And there is no housing shortage. The real barrier to home ownership is the costs of real estate, be it renting or buying. The reason there are hordes of homeless people in San Fransisco is probably due to the fact that it costs upto $3000 / month to rent an apartment, and houses sell for millions.
Infrastructure: They're putting "humps" in the roads all over Cincinnati while the underlying streets are decaying and crumbling. The more they spend on "infrastructure, the worse the roads get. I have an idea: Don't spend any more money on infrastructure, my dam suspension can't take any more abuse.

Gardening Tip: Use a portable shop vac to suck up pests. Works great on cabbage worms, potato bugs, aphids, japanese beetles. The time saved is crazy. I almost look forward to potato bug season. I put some soapy water in the tank, let them slosh around a bit ❤
But if you keep hens for eggs, put some diatomaceous earth in the shop vac instead of waster so that the bugs will still be killed, but you can then feed them to the chickens as a healthy and delicious meal. And the DE is harmless to chickens and people.
Those pre-assembled houses seem kinda cheap at first, like $40k. But they usually don't have any wiring, plumbing, drywall, or windows included. And of course you have to buy the land and utility access separately. They end up being nearly as expensive as traditional construction.
Also, BlackRock has almost nothing to do with the housing crisis. It is Blackstone that got involved in housing. Despite the similar names, they're completely different companies and have completely different operating methods. BlackRock is a public asset management company (basically an ETF sponsor). Blackstone is private equity. And contrary to what clueless people on the internet say, neither is a hedgefund. Blackstone also lost a lot of money in the housing market, so any effect that they had on prices is probably dramatically overstated. There's also a Black Cube, but I don't know anything about them other than they exist.

Concerning prefab homes and kits. We have precut wood, pre-cast faucets, many pre-built components. In ancient China the wooden architecture we still in Chinese Palaces and Japanese Shrines was all pre-fab. A series of U shaped supports layered on top of each other allowed for a rocking motion in high winds and earthquakes, each U shaped prefabbed piece rocking across a different axis of horizontal movement.
Being constructed of many standardized parts that all interlock the U shaped structures. they would simply be stacked up on site without any need for nails or other fittings. Roof tiles also being mass produced in large furnaces.
In modern wood timber construction, roof trusses similarly are mass produced using ginormous hydraulic presses, that press toothed metal plates on either side of the joints.
I sympathize with the notion that prefab housing is the death of architectural creativity. Homes being designed by builder contractors, instead of sociologist architects. The result being blobs of poorly thought out rooms.
A true modern home is not just a living room kitchen and bedrooms, as many are being mass produced. No a true modern home has a home theater, has a home office that is also a teleconferencing studio, has charging for electric vehicles, a home gym, and a shelter for falling objects. All while being designed with the flow and lifestyle of the occupants in mind.
All of which is neglected when we just churn out rooms without conscious consideration of modern needs for móderñ occupants. Lol
So I feel the sweet spot, is the mass production of component parts, not an entire home. Thus allowing for the knowledge economy of architects who’s productivity is broadened by ai tools to allow for more of the rewarding artful employment of human beings as architects designing a future build around the human experience and optimized lifestyles as we transition more menial labor into automation. Which I feel is the natural flow of automation and human progression in the centuries old patterns of escalation in the knowledge economy. Even way back to the plow.
So yeah, reject the prefab homes, but embrace prefab parts of homes and requirements for architects. Allowing for the mass production of high quality, well engineered cities and homes built for humans rather than profits. Ordinances requiring architects play into this beautiful dream quite significantly, but I guess natural demand could as-well :P, but only if we can avoid monopolistic capture of the market.

In Europe we do have National Parks but they often arent that big or more separated i think. As far as i saw right now googling in US you have 212000 KM of National Parks. In Austria its 2400 KM but we have 6 here. Austria has an total of almost 84.000 KM. The Issue is every Country has their own Parks. Some are in Collaboration i am sure about that but we dont REALLY have one really big one that we can just make as big as 2/5 of my Country (Biggest in US is around 32.300 KM). We just dont have the Area to provide that much Living Space when one Bear needs about around 100 KM to Begin with (Google Number but Take all the Numbers with a bit of Skeptics. I am not an Expert either)

I can see so many branch github projects not working as the github AI thinks it knows better and changes it after the git summit happens. Branch builds are not always perfect and many times broken but broken in a different way than the main build due to different reasons. Most of the time to include something they had to break something else so it didn't get included into main but in their own branch it did just what broke was turned off in the make file so it will work when compiled. Still with broken code just the broken part is not used but skipped. Is it best to leave it in? That depends on the code as 1 function or 1 class might be broken for 1 use but work for another and be required for others it didn't break for. Coding really isn't that good for AI use when AI has proven it can make it look like it is correct but be wrong simple calls and simple messages it works well for but anything complex without the human there to guide it the AI is wrong and will provide broken code.
