Wendell was amazing this week. The technical details he goes into and his summary is exactly why I watch this show. Somehow this week was the best in a while, and I hope for more of these. Enjoy your weekend everyone!
Arizonan here. The rain we are so aggro about "you don't know heat" is because of misconceptions like this😅. "Just operate in the morning" doesn't work in our summer because it NEVER cools down for about 6 months straight. Thanks to urban heat island effects, it will be triple digit temps until after midnight most days. You see mid 90s right before sunrise. I've the sun comes up it'll hit 100F within an hour or two. This is constant from June through August. April through October you get the occasional cool spells but triple digits are still very frequent with nights only getting down into 70s. It's not the max temp that is awful out here, it's the fact that the 3am low temp is hotter than most places in the country when they are suffering a heat wave. There is simply no breaks from the heat once summer sets in
Remember 122°F in June of 1990? I do. (It killed the batteries in both of my vehicles.) And yeah, those overnight 'lows' were the absolute worst. I used to leave my place for work at 2 o'clock in the morning and when I opened my front door it felt like I was stepping into an oven. 🔥 Stay hydrated, yo!
@@MikeBob2023yup. I'm a native and you do get used to it (ie hibernate during the heat lol) but every year October rolls around and every year I'm disappointed there's still another month to go before it cools down
@@DustinShort You're not alone. It's gotten the same way here in Florida (where I grew up). Here lately I don't think we've been getting the seasonal cool-down (that use to arrive by mid-October or so) until late November or early December. (It's nowhere near as stifling as Sonoran Desert heat, but it's definitely uncomfortable.)
Stripclub cash I worked security at clubs in the late 90s early 2000s They owned their ATM machines and 'change' machines (insert a $20 bill, get back 19 dollar bills), The owner had a safe the size of a refrigerator full of cash.
I used to work at a 24 hour Walmart. No one could be paid enough to work in the fabric department. Teenagers would go in the grocery side and smuggle beer to the fabric department. Then they would get drunk and pass out using bolts of fabric as a blanket. I don't think anyone actually caught them in person. Security happened to catch it and worked backwards. That turned into an interesting meeting. I think they were hoping someone caught it and tried to do something. No one knew about this. I felt better because I came across the aftermath and my teenage dumbass thought it was a ghost.
@xanderlander8989 the two times I was in Arizona were hot and cold. Getting hit by that wave of heat after getting out of the airport was awful and I'm from SoCal. Luckily I was only there for a long weekend and inside most of the time

Paying to destroy printers always seemed like a good stress relief idea to me... everyone hates printers.... not a much as HP hate their customers but close...
I chuckled about that Strip-Club heist. If somebody got the time and means to cut through that roof, i guess that strip club wasn't that crowded. Smells like "Inside job". Timing and effort out of proportion (thinking about all the disposable assets, such a heist would need). 250k is not that much for a strip clup, if you consider their bar Prices.
I thought that E=mc^2 was similar to the formula F = ma, as both are talking about a energy/force determined by the acceleration or velocity of an object with mass. Because if you set the acceleration of an object to the velocity of c^2, then the sum of the equation F=ma would be equal to the sum of E=mc^2.

10:33 Boeing pushed the launch out to Tuesday of next week, but considering this is something like the fourth delay in under two weeks, I wouldn't hold my breath. Not to mention, with the myriad of issues that are suddenly cropping up with both the Starliner *and* the Atlas V, I would personally be terrified for the lives of the two crew that are going to be on board that. Besides the horrible issues with the Boeing 737 MAX, the Starliner has had so many software issues. When Starliner launched for its first orbital flight test, it was supposed to go up, dock with the ISS, then come back. Instead, it went up, wasted all its fuel trying to orient itself when it was still in low orbit because the mission clock was set 11 hours in the future so it thought it was time to dock, proceeded to abort the mission and went on to try to re-enter the atmosphere. However, just before re-entry, Boeing discovered that they had the thrusters mapped completely wrong because apparently they didn't think about how when you ditch a trunk that has a bunch of thrusters on it... You... You suddenly have fewer thrusters... They didn't think about that... I swear the Boeing software engineers have never heard of validation testing before. It's not like they were doing some sort of special, out of spec mission here... It was the exact flight profile that was intended for the spacecraft they spent nearly a decade and several billion dollars building and there were so many obvious software issues. And don't get me started on the numerous hardware issues that continually delayed testing and is *still* delaying the current planned launch. By the time Boeing completes its first commercial crew launch, SpaceX will have completed its tenth. They started work at the same time and Boeing was paid a billion dollars more than SpaceX.
If we can program the bots to both seek happiness but simultaneously never reach happiness, we can turn them into consumers and create a new trillion dollar industry!

As someone who has toyed with AI chatbots and can thoroughly enjoy some of the more complex ones I have to agree actually learning socialization skills from them is bad. For the most part they are very similar to YA comic books in how they talk and act, which is very inhuman. However, if an entire generation learns to socialize this way they may in fact benefit from it when socializing with their own and younger generations, just not older ones. It's something to think about.
Wendell, not that I would know about this but people buy food and lots of drinks at strop clubs. Many pay cash to avoid a record on their cards. That cash has to be stored somewhere till it gets to the bank. Or, it's a front for drugs :)
A lot of clubs don't keep more than $500 in ones at the front desk... A lot of times if you want $200, they have to call on the radio to have it brought to them. As one who does a lot of dollar bill origami and needs a lot of ones.
