Great restoration ! ps : I remember this badass brass knuckles blow gun being engineered by ToT as a collab with Jimmy ! And now you own it ? Boy, do I love UA-cam ! 😎✌️
It use to break the hearts of us old letterpress printers in the middle of the last century to see so many old letterpress machines of all types and sizes being hauled off to the scrap heaps. They were amazing creations! Offset printing technology was so wonderful, but it didn't have the "personality" of letterpress. Like my grandfather who was a railroad engineer on the old steam engines. He hated it when they were scrapped for the new diesel engines, as nice and efficient and shiny as those new engines
I remember using a more modern version in Junior High, we used lead type and set it in the frame just like you did with the wooden block. And we made business cards to make money for stuff at the shop, good memories and great job, enjoy!
In school Ours was a two man operation. One feeder and one to push the bar down and keeping moving..someone stole the motor. And the district was so poor they couldn't even buy the damn thing..
Awesome restoration! Pretty amazing that you didn't have to fabricate or replace any parts, only some minor repairs. Just needed a good cleaning. Thanks for sharing!
Nice job. Nice press. German? Been there; done that - many times over the years. I'm about to begin restoration of an old 8x12 Chandler & Price myself. Began printing with these presses back when I was a boy. Got my first 8x12 when I was 14. Now I'm 70 and spend most of my time printing on or restoring and making parts for these old presses - mostly the smaller Kelseys, etc, but I do have 5 C&Ps that have been sitting in the barn for too long. They have been rescued from the scrap yard and safely stored for years. Now it's time to put them back into shape, then find them loving homes where they can begin printing again!
Nice job. I remember learning to use one of these when I did my printing apprenticeship a long time ago. Our TAFE teacher called it the finger slammer. A really talented operator could put the page in with one hand and take it out with the other on every impression. A really slow operator would end up one handed
Wow...! It's fantastic to see these old machines come back to life and be put to practical use again. Very well done Sir! Greetings from Southport UK. Beeindruckend...! Sehr gut gemacht, Sir! Grüße aus Southport UK.
Nice work - I was a little worried when you started hitting the ink disc and plattens with a power tool, but you were being really careful, with soft abrasives.
Been printing for 30 years from letter head to sheetfed to now digital. When it came to "restoring" on those old ones, we used to say just wipe it down and grease it..theres only so much you can do on those old Bastards.
We had a letter press section yrs ago using Victoria hand feds there was an auto vic machine with an automatic feeder on rails that rolled upto the machine I couldn't do that work now Im abit to old.
Hi! Your film is so vital for my thesis, in which I restore and drive by engine similar letterpress machine. Can you help me and tell, what engine did you use here? How much is the engine power etc.? Thank you! 😀
Grandios‼️

Nice job. I like the air gun.
Thank you
Nicely done, my friend!
It's so satisfying how well metal cleans up, and to see the flowing motion of a one machine like that moving is just epic!

You were possibly using an Adana or Excelsior, 8x5 in both cases
Awesome work on restoring this old machine, well done. Regards, Gerry

When did Diresta get all tat'ed up?? Oh wait . . .
Total Geil :-)
Danke!
From the thumbnail I thought the project was an old wheelchair that a vehicle ran over it once or twice.
Jetzt kannst du wie jimy diresta deine eigenen Plakate drucken
😎🤙🏼
Not that shabby.
Not as fast as a Web Press.
