Secret 2 I want to learn how to rap, I don't know how am going to start it, I've got alot but yet can't comprehend how am going start it, I love rap so much, I really need so much lesson
And also is not my talent, but i struggle go hard to keep it has my duty zone, my hater's always saying about me, that can't rap, but I keep to ignore that statement, it really hot my heart but i gotto bend down my head nd focus, always on record track, writing songs, sometimes i if like can't do it because nobody was willing to support me, I was step down, fucking lose control of myself I really need so much guidelines, nd supportive hands, i know opportunity comes but once no matter what,
I try to take any criticism and reframe it to make me feel better. I'll take a few minutes to think about what they said. Then I'll shift my focus to what I can do to deal with the remarks so I can up my game. There will always be times where emotional overload hits but I do my best to remind myself that it's gonna happen and it's all inevitable and part of the process.
what i respect the most in Eminem is his ability to choose wisely them very specific words that describe a whole situation in 3 words. It echos what i used to hear from my english teacher all the time : good writing is specific

Eminems work ethic is rarely talked about. He acted for a while in 8 mile but he poured hours into learning acting. Hes the type of guy can be good at something if you put your mind into it.
You aint kidding about people sleeping on his work ethic. That dedication to his craft is what likely started his pill addiction. He was doing so much, all at one time, that it gets to where you HAVE to take substances to maintain. At one time, he was working on an album, the 8 Mile film, the soundtrack to the film, and executive producing 2pac's Loyal To the Game album. Not to mention, having to go home and take care of his kids..
This is actually a trope of most highly talented individuals, it’s actually very VERY rare to be exceptional without putting the long hours in of honing a skill. Moving to another art skill like tattoo artist- no body started good at drawing, some might learn concepts faster but if you wanna draw that good expect thousands of hours and countless pages of art which isn’t that standard Why do I bring this up? I am a tattoo artist and taught a student who had very weak drawings skill but lots of motivation- his drawings now are good enough that people all think he just got natural talent, they have no idea he was drawing bad 2d cartoons that had awful posture when he started Natural talent is real- but it’s the WEAKEST asset to have for success, you better off being naturally useless but motivated to become good at something
No, he didn't have to relearn rapping, he said in his OWN SONGS that he just lost all the rage, so he had to find a way to please his fans without being a loose cannon.
As a Brazilian, I started rapping as soon as 8 Mile was released. His music had so much impact in my life that since then I started studying English, I was 13 yo at the time. Nowadays I still rap for fun and on top of that I'm an English teacher.
Needed this for real. I started rapping in 09 when I was 17 but then stopped when I was 23 because I felt that I wasn't good enough. I then got into making beats in 2016 and got really good at it. But now I have the urge to start rhyming again and this time over my own production. Need to start writing more consistently though.
I write music all the time i just dont feel as tho its good enough to go mainstream but at the same time im confident im my musical talent it would be nice to let someone who is also musically talented hear me cuz i been tryna look for a mentor or someone to work with cuz support is the biggest part of music and blasting off
This is exactly what I needed to hear! I started rapping over the summer, but with still being in college and now starting grad school this semester, I have definitely been hesitant to fully put myself out there. I still love writing rhymes bc it’s like therapy to me to express how I’m feeling in a creative way. I keep finding myself wondering if I’m jumping the gun or if I’m holding back. Hearing that Eminem had similar struggles in the beginning of his pursuit is very comforting! - Rah
quite a while back I got a cheap virtual DJ mixer for christmas and I messed around with that thing for months by myself in my room. I was performing for me alone, but I was enjoying myself and improving, experimenting and being serious, and a thought kept rolling around my head, "I wonder if anyone else thinks this sound good? What if I recorded a set and put it on youtube?" but I was too anxious to actually try it for fear of negative comments. Well, some guys and gals I eventually started playing games online with regularly were one day talking about the same kind of music I liked to mix and I chimed in with how I actually had a little mixer and liked to mess around mixing that genre. They encouraged me to let them listen and because they all sounded positive about hearing it and they were my friends, I played a set of some of my favorite tracks to put together. The response was overwhelming to me and it was a huge confidence boost. Since then, joining other Discord servers with one friend or the other when everyone else wasn't online, I sometimes get asked to show everyone, so I give in and do it and people I don't even know tell me it sounded great. Back to the present, I don't really mess around with it because I ended up getting into a demanding career, but I just want to leave you with one big piece of knowledge I gained from those experiences: People WILL like what you do. Not everybody, sure, but there will be people who do. They will want to hear more of what you do. If you can find the courage to put yourself out there a little bit, seeing that your art is accepted touches you like nothing else. And maybe one day, your art will touch someone else in a way they didn't know they needed. I stopped messing with production and DJing about 10 years ago, but if I hadn't? If I had kept putting myself out there more and more? Makes me wonder how differently these past ten years might have shaped me now...
I've been writing since 1st grade and rapping since I was 13-14. I'm 21 now and have only done it for money twice. I'll never stop no matter if there's money there or not.
I have so much respect for Eminem he always be inspiration to me so hearing this really resignates with me. Most discouraging thing I've heard while writing music is them saying ur no good and to go after something else. But I say my dreams won't die so I practice all the time writing time wasn't built in a day
As someone whose been writing for 11 years, the more you work at your craft, the more passion you pour into it, the better you and the final result will be. Keep pushing.
Thank you for this, I started writting music as a coping mechanism for my depression. I want to improve my writting style since Eminem is my inspiration for dreaming of being a rapper.
I always love watching the early days of his story because I relate so much. I was born into a trailer park as well and have gone through so much struggle but found my rhymes as a way to cope. Realized I was good with words and the rest is history. Only difference is I haven’t been discovered by anyone that can help me break into the spotlight.. YET!
@3:02... felt like you was talkn to me, specifically. I’ve had a handful of songs out on my SC and 2 songs out on iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, etc. for the last 3-4 years. after that first initial release to major streamin platforms, completin, just a verse, became 65% more difficult, for me. ... so difficult, infact, that my second release to major streamin platforms was just a re-release of my most played/liked track on my SC.
I stopped rapping because I couldn’t really write a chorus. But now that I heard Em’s method that he writes his verses first and sums it up to come up with the chorus. I’m going to give it another shot in writing rhymes. Thanks for posting.
My 8 year old son loves to sing and rap. He gets discouraged when he doesn't say something right the 1st time. THANK YOU SOOO MUCH for posting this. I was searching for what to tell him about not feeling bad. This is exactly what he needed to hear (not from his mom).
My best friend told me I was trash like 3 years ago, now I am starting events and making good music, I am 22 now and sometimes I worry about my age but that’s in my head, back to “my friend” now he wants to associate himself, with people that work with me.
Yo😱😱😱 drew you are a legend... The most discouraging thing to hear from someone was " hearing you rap Is annoying" that really struck me... . But love the video can't wait for the next bro
my father gifted me the Marshall matters lp for my 5th birthday. it was like love at first sight with hiphop. started rapping at the age 13. stopped around 22 due to my fiancé at the time telling me to "get a real job". 7 years later here I am picking up the mic once again. collabing with producers from all over getting mad love.
Wow, that's too young. I wasn't allowed to listen to explicit rap music until I was 18. My dad took me CD shopping on my 18th birthday, and one of the CD's he bought me was the Marshall Mathers LP . Of course I listened to explicit rap behind my parents back before I was 18, and I was allowed to have the edited versions of some rap CD's, like Cypress Hill's Black Sunday, East 1999 Eternal by Bone Thugs n Harmony, Rated PG-13 by Da Brat, Regulate G Funk Era by Warren G, In My Lifetime vol 2 by Jay-Z, and Missy Elliot's debut album Supa Dupa Fly. But I wasn't allowed to watch music videos, unfortunately.
@@MiaRosenbloom My ma used to blast eve and ice cube and shit when I was still a toddler she was cool with em but I was more into him individually. I just never saw why people restricted music from they're kids.
Never sacrifice your purpose for a female. It’s just a female and they make up over half the population they ain’t special. When you go big and get money you’ll have a horde of bitches to chose from
This was my exactly my experience playing guitar and creating my own style. Everybody sucks at first - it’s just about being passionate, focusing, and consistency.
Its always reassuring hearing the thoughts of Em. I've been writing on and off for a year. I have 12 songs I'm currently working on. They've turned into obscene word documents. Each containing dozens of songs of material. I am constantly writing entire songs. Tearing them to pieces to start-over. I saw a video with Em saying he does the same, even now.. And that he has 50 songs written to throw at each album. I am happy being patient. I'm happy with the idea of continually improving my work. I'm happy waiting until I'm happy. My dream is to make an album off all original music. I am a musician so can produce all the music. Write and perform all the bars. Get some of my amazing friends to feature. If it sells zero copies, I don't care. This is what I like doing now :)
That’s when it’s fun broski. Do it cuz u love it. Never know if u make it or not unless u make the product. What’s even sweeter is when u have that mindset of, “ fuck it! If it gets noticed FANTASTIC!! If not, fuck it, imma still do it. “ powerful place to be
@@TruBuM Thank you for your comment mate! Whatever I craft will be definitely be unique. I'm a white metal-head from a small town in Wales, UK. Zero gang-banging lyrics coming from me haha. Plenty of fun things out there to write about though. I love Eminem. The reason I tear my work to pieces constantly is because of him, listening to him. I'd never hope in a million years to be 1% as good as that amazing man, but he encourages me in all the right ways to be better. Very new to hip hop. I started listening to Rakim last week for the first time :) Any other suggestions for lyrical rappers would be appreciated.

Stopping something then coming back later is COMMON practice for me. Like on a video game for example. If I'm stuck and stuck and stuck ill put the game down for a few weeks then come back and complete in 1 try what I couldnt before. That method helps tremendously
Never been much of a lyricist but since I'm getting better with producing I may as well learn to do vocals properly and take it to the next level. Great content
He also read the dictionary so there are so many choices of words to rhyme in a single bar. He's a genius in the sense of wit. Ive read the dictionary too and i can rap but i struggle with confidence. Here's an example of how reading the dictionary helps: Dont trip, no hesitation, no slight increase in respiration, Migration... From perpetration to elation, Im an animal that needs caging, You'll be left with facial displation, Rearrangement, Complacent, with your blood curdling raging, Im a demon perched in your basement, Waiting to be awakened from where I'm stationed... That's just a random freestyle as an example
i had a good example of quitting and starting up again more then once started rapping and writing at 15 then stopped at about 17 for like 3 years then started again cuzz i had a bunch of life experience and mental issues i was able to write and feel right now im 24 and make my own beats and rhymes im a horror core rapper, and a lyricist who writes about everyone and everything. example (dissing the rap game and some of the mumble rappers, mentioning covid, the government, rapping about mental illness’s i deal with and my life i havn’t posted anything cuzz im trying to make it sound as professional as i can get
Stop being afraid to write a song and release it. No one is thinking about you, everyone is thinking about themselves. Start now and you'll thank yourself later Now is the best time🔥🔥🔥
My most discouraging thing was getting told that nobody ever understood my raps and that they were too complicated. So i made them more complicated lol
best friend told me that i was thrash... Im french and had to learn english just to fit in the freestyle battles. im still dealing with that tho XD.... one day i shall rise like a phoenix and proove everybody wrong. But that day is not now. So for now i sit quietly and work on my art... GDAY MATES

@@Thysta I know what you mean and i know how that looks in the perspective of a stranger, but hear me out please. Some people, including me, are very insecure about their music and if uploading a song has a negative impact. Also some struggle with mixing/mastering or a huge problem i'm struggling with called rap voice. I always sound kinda weird or lack delivery/aggrressiveness and confidence in my voice. When it comes to having texts and rapping them alone, there's no struggle (at least for me). And i put my hand into fire that there are people that feel like me. Hope you can understand what i'm trying to say (I'm a foreigner) It's all love, stay safe out there!
What Eminem said about going over his verses so much that he couldn't find a single flaw when he heard it back was great, I'm currently writing a novel, The Buddha and The Wolf, and I'm on the 10th edit, and sometimes I feel that I'm going over it too much, but that comment perfectly encapsulates why I'm paying such attention to detail. Great video.
2:46 Same i gave up at 15 i started because i know one of my neighbour can rap he did a rap battle in a park i remember i was there and i think he stills rap but i am back at 21 and wont give up this time and hold a solid rap career and stop till am 60 i dont know when to blow up Eminem on this video blew up at 26 we have our times once i am really good i will still be practicing.
Talent can't be taught, 100 percent true, but like how I am a great artist and can draw anything, at first, I wasn't good. Talent fed, grown and yes yes yes, with plenty of practice can make someone with talent great but no one is born great at a talent.
Oh but also I practiced and taught myself everything with drawing and music from composition to recording and mastering. All you really have to do is NOT neglect or starve it, feed your talent, make it your baby, raise it to thrive, shock and awe to succeed. Find the keys to unlock your potential, you have to know where to look. I go to God in prayer a lot and Google. Lol

For me it was historical fencing - getting into the first tournament was tough. I wasn’t sure I’d even get a hit in, but ended the preliminaries at 41 and 3, putting me 1 point behind the leader. You gotta try competing in whatever you do, because your perception of reality is warped by all the games your mind and ego play on you… I’d love to learn how to rap and compete too, so I can do both at the same time! 😂
This chick told me my music isn't going anywhere. Thankfully after a day or so being in my feelings I remembered somethings. 1) I spit hot jiggy-sauce fatal to haters and #2) this chick is literally always wrong. Fame is right outside my door figuratively speaking. I've earned this self-confidence, skill level, keen determination among other things for the last 22 years. I've never once in my life walked away from this. A man plays a game or fights in a war to win it. Words like 'if', 'maybe' and the like were never factors regarding my musical conquest. In my perspective; this has always been a simple walking to a specified destination/location. As simple as walking to it meaning certainty is an understatement. It's been more like, 'Duh!' for me
What's missing is that you have to be sort of crazy to be really talented at something because most people won't put all that time into practicing for hours a day. Most athletes or even famous actors have this drive most people will never have because they're a little crazy. It's like an obsession to them. Most very smart people are the same. They can't seem to put the books down or stop packing knowledge. It's an obsession to them. You can tell Em has it. He even talks about reading the dictionary a lot. Who does that? Not even most teachers are that obsessed for knowledge.
I quit writing after my brain injury in 2020 :( but I do plan to start again. My brain just doesn’t focus the same as it once did but I want to get back to writing again for sure!
It's important to stress that being a world class rapper takes more than just raw skill. Eminem was very controversial at the height of his fame the media and press gave him so much buzz and publicity. Bottom line is being talented is a small part of becoming a rap star this is why there are so many trash rappers who make it big and skilled rappers who go nowhere. You need to have a relentless work ethic, a strong marketing/PR team, a manager/agent and build a loyal fanbase.
I had a dream twice where eminem is freestyling and I wake up and realize it's my own mind. Do you think I should go for it and practice? It's always been a dream of mine.
yea just over time develop your own style thats unique but still catchy and you’re guaranteed to get some type of traction with the right marketing and promotion
I started writing rhymes back in 2012, recorded a single, cringed when I heard myself. So I stopped for a while, went to college, got married and started a family. But I’m back now and I’m not going back. I wanna rap for a living.
I remember when I wrote songs in my teens my associate told me it was wack. Long story short I threw the book away, then years later, I started rhyming on instrumentals off the cuff raps to better my flow. To conclude I know I would've improved but I let ppl shelf my dream
I'm using this for writing. I have always been a word nerd. Scrabble was like chess, the origins of each word I could guess. I took a 4 hour test in comprehension and got 100 right.. I admire eminem and his art form. I don't wanna Rap myself.
Eminem is the rapper who made me want to start rapping. Coming out of Belgium tho, I have to say it’s not easy, since English isn’t the main language they speak here and I have been writing lyrics in English for quite a while now. I quit and came back multiple times and I just recently got into it again. I haven’t ever been this motivated, the only thing that bothers me is that I still find it hard to come up with punchlines since I’m not a native English speaker. Would anyone have some tips? lmfao
This is what I needed to hear! I get nervous in front of a crowd because I feel like I’m not good enough but have loved music and studied it since I was a kid! I just don’t want to make a song that doesn’t make sense. So im hard in myself! I’m going to keep going and keep trying until I get better at it!
I'm a '90s kid and was hooked on Em's music once I heard him rap "What about math, how come I wasn't ever good at THAT?" I was always in "gifted'' classes but that line really made me think.....nobody can be great at EVERYTHING....
Hope to inspire to create greatness like this man has done for me ✌️💕 Hope this comment reaches someone who needs it. Stay focused and keep pushing forward 🎶🔥🎷
when I try to perform to one of my friends, my palms get sweaty, knees become weak, and my arms are heavy, I vomit on my sweater and it was my mom's spaghetti, I'm nervous. But on the surface I look calm and ready to drop bombs, but I keep forgetting what I wrote down all my friends goes so loud I open my mouth but the words won't come out, I'm choking, and everybody started joking, the clock's run out and time's up

There’s a difference between talent and skill. Em’s talent is not rapping…his talent is in the way his mind works and his ability to verbally translate. He just applied that natural gift and honed it to the art of rapping because that’s what he was interested in. He could have applied his natural gift to speaking, or writing books and so on….
Honestly the reason I stopped writing was because of legends like eminem. I felt like I had to rhyme just like them, have wordplay just like them, cadence just like them. It became tough
~Id already been doing raps & liking it, and i was pretty good at it, but then when i quit a 10 year hard drug habit, it was writing those rap poems that helped me the most when i got sober!~Then, it was my sister's criticism of it a few years later that made me give up the rhymes....and i never went back......i lost my skill for it....
One of the best things i can say is record as many songs as u possibly can even learn engineering an producing yourself the time and learning of structures an what goes where comes with time an be a fan of poetry give meaning to your lyrics
I've dabbled in the lyrics in middle age and while white, lol. It helped to learn/realize that imperfect rhymes are higher art form than perfect rhymes. That's day 2 of a rap 101 class. And those are the harder ones for me. The perfect rhymes come easier with me.
I keep giving up and going back to it since I was was 5 I now have more to rap about now and I’m only 13 I can rap about my anger, depression, hustling, violence, my struggle, and living in the hood.
I've found Chronic at the vinyl store a couple of months ago...Once I saw it, it was an instant buy, I've listened to the mp3 version so many time, I had to keep the album in my collection :I)
You know, it's so crazy to me how much positive information is out there for us to really reach our goals and dreams. We just gotta look for it. I mean, I'm just scrolling along and all of a sudden I stop here and they're showing us ways to better our craft. I had nothing like this growing up. Even though times were "simpler" they also didn't allow for so much self-help information. At least, not if you weren't techy enough. I'm gonna be 40 years old and I wish I had this to pay attention to growing up--I know I wlda gotten myself together much sooner.

This is actually a trope of most highly talented individuals, it’s actually very VERY rare to be exceptional without putting the long hours in of honing a skill.
Moving to another art skill like tattoo artist- no body started good at drawing, some might learn concepts faster but if you wanna draw that good expect thousands of hours and countless pages of art which isn’t that standard
Why do I bring this up? I am a tattoo artist and taught a student who had very weak drawings skill but lots of motivation- his drawings now are good enough that people all think he just got natural talent, they have no idea he was drawing bad 2d cartoons that had awful posture when he started
Natural talent is real- but it’s the WEAKEST asset to have for success, you better off being naturally useless but motivated to become good at something
@@GrazsPlace are you saying that not all people can be what they wanna be?
Eminem had to re-learn rapping after getting sober from drugs.
This should be a lesson to all rapper. We have to continuously work on our craft.

1:50 what you cannot teach is the love, respect and dedication Eminem has for the game… been rapping for more than 30 years now and still loves it
Yeah you can

I am feeling the pull, feel the love for it overpowering the doubt of the mind’s insecurities and fears. 💜🌀😃
As a Brazilian, I started rapping as soon as 8 Mile was released. His music had so much impact in my life that since then I started studying English, I was 13 yo at the time. Nowadays I still rap for fun and on top of that I'm an English teacher.
Awesome 👍
“Fack” yeah
That’s the best comment of the day! Thank you for sharing this
Needed this for real. I started rapping in 09 when I was 17 but then stopped when I was 23 because I felt that I wasn't good enough. I then got into making beats in 2016 and got really good at it. But now I have the urge to start rhyming again and this time over my own production. Need to start writing more consistently though.
I write music all the time i just dont feel as tho its good enough to go mainstream but at the same time im confident im my musical talent it would be nice to let someone who is also musically talented hear me cuz i been tryna look for a mentor or someone to work with cuz support is the biggest part of music and blasting off
Fight for what you want and you will have it I wish you the best
Same here bro I started rapping back in 2001
Same here man same story
Can I hear some of your beats ?
This is exactly what I needed to hear! I started rapping over the summer, but with still being in college and now starting grad school this semester, I have definitely been hesitant to fully put myself out there. I still love writing rhymes bc it’s like therapy to me to express how I’m feeling in a creative way. I keep finding myself wondering if I’m jumping the gun or if I’m holding back. Hearing that Eminem had similar struggles in the beginning of his pursuit is very comforting! - Rah

Nows a good time to start if u can juggle rapping and college because college is a huge audience for u. Best of luck. Keep going.
quite a while back I got a cheap virtual DJ mixer for christmas and I messed around with that thing for months by myself in my room.
🔥🔥
Keep going, I just graduated grad school and I’ve been writing songs for over a year now but my process got better and everyday, just stay consistent

Seeing this after starting my journey recently on writing and rapping, makes me just feel like I’m doing the right thing. Thank you em

Thanks for posting.

my father gifted me the Marshall matters lp for my 5th birthday. it was like love at first sight with hiphop. started rapping at the age 13. stopped around 22 due to my fiancé at the time telling me to "get a real job". 7 years later here I am picking up the mic once again. collabing with producers from all over getting mad love.
Good dad

He also read the dictionary so there are so many choices of words to rhyme in a single bar. He's a genius in the sense of wit.
Ive read the dictionary too and i can rap but i struggle with confidence. Here's an example of how reading the dictionary helps:
Dont trip,
no hesitation,
no slight increase in respiration,
Migration... From perpetration to elation,
Im an animal that needs caging,
You'll be left with facial displation,
Rearrangement,
Complacent, with your blood curdling raging,
Im a demon perched in your basement,
Waiting to be awakened from where I'm stationed...
That's just a random freestyle as an example

What Eminem said about going over his verses so much that he couldn't find a single flaw when he heard it back was great, I'm currently writing a novel, The Buddha and The Wolf, and I'm on the 10th edit, and sometimes I feel that I'm going over it too much, but that comment perfectly encapsulates why I'm paying such attention to detail.
Lol

Hard work ALWAYS beats talent.
It's been more like, 'Duh!' for me
Glad you didn't quit

What's missing is that you have to be sort of crazy to be really talented at something because most people won't put all that time into practicing for hours a day. Most athletes or even famous actors have this drive most people will never have because they're a little crazy. It's like an obsession to them. Most very smart people are the same. They can't seem to put the books down or stop packing knowledge. It's an obsession to them. You can tell Em has it. He even talks about reading the dictionary a lot. Who does that? Not even most teachers are that obsessed for knowledge.

This applies to almost any occupation
