We need to enshrine abortion into Missouri State Law because women deserve the right to choose.
We need to give democrats both houses of congress and the presidency so roe can be legislated back into law, and we can reform the Supreme Court. 💙

The polls are moving in the right direction! The latest on 538 has Hawley ahead by 4. Hopefully the ballot initiative gets the right people out to vote! But I am a little disappointed in the DNC. I didn't even know Hawley was up for reelection or that the race was tightening. It's the same here in FL - we have a wonderful candidate running against Rick Scott & our local news just ran a story on how the DNC is barely helping her. I really believe we could beat MAGA senators like Scott & Hawley with help from the DNC. It's very frustrating.
Hawley is great at running, but only running away on January 6th.

I live in Missouri. What actually happened is a legislator brought a last minute case to block the ballot initiative before a friendly judge who ruled in her favor. This happened on Friday, the ACLU took it to the Supreme Court on Sunday, the court heard it on Tuesday, the day the ballot had to be finalized, and immediately overturned the lower court ruling.
I have donated to the ACLU. Thank goodness they fight for democracy.
You see how fast the courts ruled in Missouri? That's how the courts should treat trump!

What I, as a woman, don't understand is the women that vote for it. They're voting against themselves. Maybe when one of them is bleeding out from a miscarriage in a hospital parking lot because they can't get the emergency reproductive care they need they'll think twice.
They don't care about abortion, their interest is in control of women. That is why once a fetus is actually born they refuse to fund any issues that might provide for food, medical care, etc.
Well, because men don't own any of the bodies it directly affects, obviously. But would it be OK if a majority of women were opposed to reproductive rights like this somewhere? I don't think so. And that has probably happened before. I don't view it as a just a women's rights issue. It's a human rights issue.
Men in America like to play tough by controlling women. Kamala Harris asked Brett Kavanaugh if he knew of any laws regulating men’s bodies. Of course he didn’t because there are men. We must get more women in positions of power!

Brian this exact same scenario has happened here in Idaho, another bright red state. We managed over the last year to get a citizens initiative on the ballot for this November after working hard to meet all the many requirements. The initiative is for Open Primaries with Ranked Choice Voting. Our Secretary of State certified that all requirements were met but our Attorney General, Raul Labrador, was determined to get it off the ballot. He sued not once but TWICE to invalidate it. Ended up both times at our state Supreme Court, also completely conservative but they upheld the initiative. And of course he was dumb enough to try it again. And again ended up at our Supreme Court who were none too happy to see that he apparently didn’t understand their verdict the first time. Same result - they upheld the initiative. Of course both of his lawsuits were entirely at taxpayer expense. It’s entirely possible that he should be a little nervous the next time he is up for re-election 😡

I was stationed in South Carolina when I was in the military. It was a culture shock for me, and I was from a Midwest farm country! This was the 80's and I was surprised. Culturally, it was like going back in time. Our base was near a small town, so I'm sure that made a difference between being in Columbia or Charleston.
Its like an Ozarks episode. Swings wildly. Good news this time. 👏
Thank you for bringing this situation to light! I live in Missouri and I have a personal story about this. My story happened before the law that we have in place now and to make it even more extreme sickens me. I also want to thank you for bringing up the senate race with Lucas Kunce and Josh Hawley. Josh has no interest in helping the people of Missouri. In my opinion he only has high political ambitions and hopes that it will get him to where he wants on the coattails of Trump and trust me I’m not going to help him do it. It’s important for the country to know how extreme Hawley is and I’m tired of all the hate.

I am in and from Missouri, St.. Louis. There has been many attempts by the AG to deny the abortion refendum to be on the ballot this upcoming election cycle, and certainly because it's believed by all that enshrining abortion-access will pass. While we are a very conservative state --- remember, this is Josh Hawley's homeland --- and the first state to outlaw abortion after the Roe-vs-Wade decision was cast -- most Missourians support abortion in the case of rape, incest or the life of the mother in true danger. It's worth noting that a couple years before Roe vs Wade came to be considered, the GOP passed a measure that stated if the landmark decision was overturned, the legality of abortion would end here. No one really even knew much about it, when, to most, that was more about a pretense than a possiblity. It's worth adding that there's been many other far-right legal efforts underway, Missouri Republicans introducing a huge onslaught of anti-LGBTQ legislation, something like 25% of all such legal efforts targeting us nationally were being fought here.

Yes, this is extremely unsurprising for my state. I sat with multiple Republican representatives and they are so extremely focused on getting Trump in. It made me so sick and embarrassed that I totally lost respect for even those I had previously had deep regard. Nothing has changed.
