Unfortunately, death took Alice Price and Marion Lorne, two people Elizabeth loved. Dick York had no choice but to leave due to his health. I think changes like this has happened on other TV shows.
And there were plenty of lesser character changes, besides Darrins. Bernard Fox played a different character in an early episode. Same for Paul Lynde, before he became Uncle Arthur. After Alice Pearce died, Mary Grace Canfield filled in a couple of episodes as Abner's sister, while Gladys "was away". Then Sandra Gould came in as Gladys Kravitz. Some of the actors that played clients of McMann and Tate returned but as different clients. Actor Bernie Kopell played 6 different characters during the series run.
I always loved Elizabeth Montgomery -- what a beauty gracious lady she was, and a true beauty, with a sensuality about her. She also had tons of charisma, with a great sense of humor. She died way to young in her short life.
Dick York was the best! You could tell their was no chemistry with Dick Sargent! I didn't realize till recently that Dick York was in love with her. He actually admitted it in an interview!
There was something about making films and television that caused cancer in the 40s, 50's, 60's and even into the seventies.. No kidding. The number of people involved in movie and television production in that era who died of cancer has to far exceed the average in the general population. Elizabeth Montgomery, Agnes Moorehead, Alice Pearce, Dick Sargent (actually almost everyone on Bewitched) Farrah Faucet, Ann Sheridan, John Wayne, Bea Benederet, Joan Crawford, Rita Hayworth....the list just goes on and on............
Elizabeth hated Dick York's constant staring at her between takes. That, I suspect, would make most women feel uncomfortable. But what made her such a great professional, is she kept personal issues off the set. She also respected those around her, no matter what production she was working on. That's one reason why people loved working with her. York and Sargent were two different people, but both were very nice people. The difference, Sargent loved Elizabeth as a person, not purely from a physical standpoint. She loved him as a friend and said, when he died, that she was going to miss his love and courage. He loved her, too, calling her a bright and caring lady. That's what friendship is all about
Unfortunately, the show ran it's course after 8 years --a great run of TV time. Dick Y had more range, I felt, than Dick S. did. In fact, I've read that before Darren 2 came along, there were about 15 eps where Darren was "out of town on business" before Dick S. came along.
I liked All in the Family but I'm with you now I hate it I can't stand it. Give me Elizabeth Montgomery anytime. I'm a single male after a 20-year marriage collapsed I would love to meet someone very similar to her
We will always love and miss you Elizabeth Montgomery.❤
We do
thanks a million for posting... love bewitched... and dick york.. :-) x
Elizabeths crowning glory of her body of filmwork is Lizzie Borden hands down!
If I could be any television character, I would be Samantha Stephens. Why not?
Oh me too
I just love Liz and Dick York together.Dick Sargent, not so much, its just not the same.
Agree
I also loved the original Glaydis cravitz.... them two was funny too.... Abnaaaa!!!!!!!
Yes and George Tobias as her husband, Abner. He always thought Gladys was nuts. Lmao.
@@waynej2608 George T. a character actor in many vintage movies.
Did Gladys ever sleep? She was always spying on Sam, day or night. I will say this, Sam did a little of that when Pleasure O'Reilly moved in.

Elizabeth Montgomery was upset that Dick York was in love with her. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
NEVER could stand Sargeant.
You're welcome! (:

What was her problem with Dick York? They worked so much better together... 💔💔💔💔 I never liked Sargent. She never worried about him. 💔
Apparently she was offended that York was in love with her, but her husband William Asher didn't mind due to the chemistry that came across on film.
Dick York had a crush on Elizabeth Montgomery and she hated him for that.

Ooh,i want to watch 'The Legend of Lizzie Borden now!
Rebecca looks like more Elizabeth young sister than her daughter !! She looks like her so much !!

great posting..thanks~!
I think the show would have lasted longer with Dock York. There was no chemistry without him.
The one thing that really eluded her was Love from a husband, although she found peace with Robert foxworth at the end
I just adored her. Still do.
Elizabeth's daughter looks just like her. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
She was scary as Lizzie Borden
The first husband was a bit like Mister Bean
You know, I never liked All in the Family...now I loathe it...
