Hi guys. Really nice content. I have seen almost all of your videos of Greek series and you did great job. Retsina is a really unique type of wine. In the earlish era of modern Greece used to be the most famous alcohol drink among Greeks. It was frequently referred as the drink of people because is very cheap. Also started to made it in Athens in huge amounts back to end of 19th century and all people drunk Retsina in Tavernas. But this fashion transferred to Northern Greece and till now it's really common drink in the Northern part of country instead to Athens which now isn't so popular. Retsina is really nice if you compine it with coca cola in the same glass. Retsina is the kind of drink that or you love it or you hate it. Also is really common for students who want get drunk with less money 😂
Ha! Wow - thanks for this extra insight (and thanks of course, for watching!!). I wish we had tried it with coca cola - that sounds like a really interesting combo! I'm really glad we came upon this wine. So fun! Thank you!!
Great video, like everything you did for Greece. If you want to pronounce Greek sites correctly or Greek words in general, keep this in mind: When you see the letters Ι-ι, Υ-υ, Η-η, ΕΙ-ει, ΟΙ-οι, ALWAYS pronounce them as "ee" as in "tree". Continue your wonderful tour.
Just found your channel today and have watched 3 or 4 Greece travel videos already. I'm so excited because I'm putting together a trip for us in 2 months. We've booked Athens and Hydra and I'm trying to decide where else to go. Looks like it will be Nafplion (with side trips to Mycenae and Epidavros) and Delphi. I'll start looking for hotels in Arachova and definitely want to eat at Tsoukali Restaurant. That experience is right up my alley. Did you visit anywhere else near Delphi? Thanks again for the lovely videos on Greece.
We only visited Delphi / Arachova in that area (plus the Monastery at the beginning of our Athens video). We would love to go back and explore it more because it's beautiful! Enjoy your trip (and thanks for watching our channel!!)!
Lovely videos and good commentary, Heather and Bill. My husband and I are planning a first-time trip to Greece this fall and we'd like to visit some of your favorite places, especially Delphi. You were driving most of the time, right? I've read in various travel books that Greek drivers are pretty rowdy and so driving for Americans can be a real challenge. What do you think?
Yes, we drove everywhere but in Athens! We didn't have many problems at all. Don't be surprised to share the road with people passing you - the lane market lines are merely suggestions in Greece. 😂 We just moved to the right without stopping, to make room for them to pass. They'll pass right in the middle of the road. Is someone is coming toward you in the opposite direction, same thing -move over to make room. It's normal there. 👍 Enjoy!!
Hi, can you tell me is there a lot of uphill walking at Delphi. I’m nearly 78 so it can be an issue, planning being there the last half of October.thanks
There was a fair amount of uphill walking and stairs in Delphi. Olympia and Messene are much flatter. Epidavros has light hills but not bad. We try to plan for easier walking earlier in our trips, and harder ones toward the end (assuming we'll be in better shape toward the end 😂). Athens' Acropolis has a lot of stairs to get up there, but there's also an elevator and it's flat at the top.
THANKS FOR WATCHING!

This might be my favorite video so far. What a fantastic meal experience! Great comparison of the ruins.
Yayyy!! So glad you enjoyed it! The meal was a fantastic experience. I'd travel again to Arachova just to eat there again!
Glad you showed the town…looks great for my sketching.
Lots of sketching opportunities in Delphi - and especially in Arachova!

When you visited Delphi did you purchase a ticket beforehand?
We did not - but that was in June of 2021. 😊

Thanks very much. That gives us more confidence. Did you make hotel reservations in advance for each stop? @@TalesFromOurPocket
Arachova is the winter equivalent of Mykonos in Greece.
Sounds delightful!
