Hello and thanks for watching. I am glad you found my videos useful. It is usually the Pharmacist Council in your home country that writes the letter of good standing and they send it directly to GPHC so you should not bother with the content because I am sure they know what to write. The GPHC has some specific information that they require on the letter of good standing and this can be found on their website (on the OSPAP guide/FAQ and application form).
I'm so so happy I came across your channel. I've been looking for this information for months now. Thank you so much for all the detailed information. You truly are a saviour ☺
I’m so grateful that I came across your channel, it’s really really helpful!! Thank you so much. I have a question here: The website of GphC says “All courses starting in 2023 and 2024 are already oversubscribed, due to high demand and applications carried over from last year. This means that you are unlikely to be able to find a place to study during this time.” Does this mean I don’t have the opportunity to study ospap this and also the next September?😢 when should I submit my documents to them? Looking forward to hearing from you. Thank you so much.
Hello and thank you so much for your message and huge apologies for the late response. It appears that is the case but do keep an eye on the GPHC website to be updated on the latest developments. You can also email them directly with any specific queries. They will be best placed to provide the right guidance.
Hello and thanks for watching. By certified, I mean the original document has to be taken to a recognised lawyer or solicitor in your country and a photocopy of the original document is made in their presence and the lawyer/solicitor signs and writes a date to say they have seen the original document. GPHC also has specified wording that they want the solicitorlawyer to use. You usually would pay a small fee for the service to the lawyer/solicitor.
Hello and thanks for watching. I am unsure how to help as it usually comes up in the drop down box. Try Pharmacy or other words within General Pharmaceutical Council. Or maybe refresh the page or contact IELTS.
To be honest, i don’t think so but it is not impossible. On a student visa, you can only work 20 hours per week during term time and the OSPAP year is quite a stressful year to combine both work and study. I am sure people have somehow managed to do it but I have no idea what kind of job. I am sorry I have not been able to help you.
Hi there. Thanks a lot for this insightful video, but I have a lot of questions to ask regarding documentation. 1) what is u’ve left ur home and already in uk will the pcn and ur referees still need to send a letter of good standing 2) how much is the university fee for the one year training program 3) about the solicitor signing on ur photograph how is that possible if ur already in uk or u get a uk solicitor Thanks as I await ur response
Hello and thanks for watching. See my responses below: 1. Yes, you still need both. I was already living here in the UK for 5 years before I commenced OSPAP. 2. All schools have different costs. You need to check their websites for their current fees. Check University of Brighton, University of Hertfordshire, Aston University Birmingham and University of Sunderland 3. Yes, you can use a UK solicitor. Good luck
Thank you for your guide. Please how can one obtain admission after GPHC has given approval for OSPAP? What processes would one follow in order to obtain admission?
I have a part 2 to this video where I talk about the process. Once you get approval from the GPHC, they usually send your details to the university or you can just contact them directly and apply via the website..xx
@@sijuadejnr907 hello and thanks for watching and your kind comment. I personally don’t think it is necessary to do an M.Sc before OSPAP. If your main aim is to be a UK pharmacist, then go for the OSPAP and when you qualify as a UK pharmacist you can consider doing an M.Sc in something clinical pharmacy related and most work places will be happy to even pay part or all of the post graduate fee esp if you work in hospital. Hope this makes sense.
Your video is so insightful! Thank you. I have a couple of questions. 1. Can an employer be used as a reference for OSPAP? If yes would that be categorizes under academic or employment reference. 2. Can I submit all the documents required of me to GPHC while I prepare for and write my IELTS. Then have the result sent to them by adding GPHC address during IELTS. 3. Would I need to submit my permanent license alongside original degree certificate or just my original degree Certificate? 4. After the one year OSPAP MSC programme are we given an MSC certificate?
Thanks for watching and glad you found it useful. 1. Yes an employer can be used as a reference and that would be classed as employment reference. 2. I have heard that GPHC only open a file for you once they have received a passed IELTS result from you and it makes sense unless they will be inundated with so many documents. I think it is best to start gathering the documents and pass your IELTS. That way, once your results are in, you can send your documents. 3. I think you need your original degree certificate. I don’t recall them requesting for a license rather they request for a letter of good standing which is issued by your pharmacist council in the UK and send directly by them to GPHC. 4. I believe so but I am not sure an M.Sc OSPAP is valid anywhere else apart from UK.
@@Fashstyleliv Thank you so much for your swift response. I asked the first question wrongly. I meant to ask, can your internship employer from the place you conducted your mandatory 1 year internship training programme offer you a reference? Would that be an academic reference or employment reference?
What about peeps that just freshly graduated outside Nigeria, not yet registered, I mean how do they get a letter of good standing from their home country, if they have not being board certified?
Yes, I think you can get a letter of good standing from the PCN who can say you are eligible to register, etc. make enquiries with them to ensure they still do this for people who are yet to register with them.
Hi !!! , thanks for this great video. I would like to if there were extra benefits of doing the masters OSPAP compared to pg diploma for career or perhaps PHD in UK . Thanks
You are welcome. If you need a UK student visa for the OSPAP, you are better off selecting the M.Sc version as you are able to switch (in country) to either a post study visa (also known as Graduate visa) or Tier 2 visa whereas the Diploma does not allow you do this. I am not sure about PHD prospects. Good luck.
Hi pharm, thank you for this insightful video. Please, you made mention that Gphc might not approve an application because they might feel the candidate is not eligible in some instances. Taking cognizance of that, I wanted to ask, that does the duration of years practicing as a pharmacist post internship in the candidate’s home country matter in the deliberations ? In other words, can a candidate who just finished internship and has obtained his permanent license in his home country apply to Gphc and not get rejected ? And what are the things that can cause a reject for a candidate ? Thank you.
Hello and thanks for your message. No one really knows the criteria that GPHC use but I believe they compare that the university you obtained your pharmacy degree is comparable to the UK standard. Don’t focus on them rejecting you; be positive and submit all the required docs and I am sure you will be approved God willing. Good luck.
I would like to ask if I can get a certificate of Good standing from the pharmaceutical council of Nigeria if my only experience is the one year compulsory internship program?
Please I want to start my pharmacy journey as an undergraduate student in the UK university what course should I fill for when signing up for the university program And need guide please thank you
Hello and thanks for watching. I am afraid I am not an expert when it comes to the undergrad pharmacy programme in UK (MPharm). With regards to the course to choose in the university, it should be MPharm but that’s about all that I know of the course. Perhaps ask the universities directly for guidance. Good luck
Thanks for watching. I am not sure what the acceptance rate is and I believe the GPHC and the universities alone will have that information. From experience, I know more than a handful of people who have done the OSPAP programme from various countries and I have never heard of anyone rejected by any university especially after the GPHC approval because once the GPHC approves you, it means you have met several requirements. Of course, some universities usually have other requirements but I think once you go on their website and meet these requirements, it would be difficult for them to reject you. I know Brighton usually makes students pass their Calculation test prior to an unconditional offer (I don't know if they still do it) and if you don't pass this calculation test, they won't provide an unconditional offer. Generally, I think once you meet the GPHC and the universities' requirements, it would be a straightforward process. Good luck.
Hi dear, thank you for this informative video, my question is; 1. Will I still need to send hard copy documents to GPhC? I thought you mentioned in one of your videos that they now accept soft copies? I am currently in Nigeria
Hello and thank you for watching my videos. I believe you need to still send hard copies to the GPHC. I don’t think I mentioned that GPHC now accept soft copies of any documents in any of my videos but the do post the link to the video so I can clarify for you.
Thanks for watching. I believe the letter of good standing is an essential requirement for the GPHC adjudication. If you are a fresh graduate but eligible to register (even though you are not yet registered), I believe your country's pharmaceutical coiuncil should be able to provide a letter to that effect. Other than that, it may be difficult. I think you may want to enquire from GPHC if you are still unable to obtain a letter of good standing. I hope this helps.
Hi thanks for your video... Please I will like to know how easy it is for an overseas graduate to get a pre-registration placement after the OSPAP program.
Yes it is. They usually will only open a file for you after you have passed the exam. Remember to select that a copy of your IELTS is sent directly to GPHC when you register for the examZ good luck.
Thanks for watching. I believe so but I guess it would all depend on the school. If GPHC has already provided an approval to you then it is valid for 2 years but after the two years, you have to start from the scratch including paying the GPHC fee all over again and obtaining some documents again such as Letter of Good Standing, rewriting and passing IELTS/OET (I think they are both valid for 2 years), etc.
Thank you so much for a very informative video clearing every little detail I have a question can the letter of good standing and reference letter be sent by email also??
Thank you so much for watching; I am glad you find the video helpful. As far as I know, the letter of good standing is usually posted but I suggest emailing the GPHC to find out if these documents can be emailed. They are usually good at getting back to you with a response. Good luck with your plans!
Yes they mainly require original documents and they would return your degree certificate back. You should check their website as there are some documents that you need to send and some that need to be sent directly from the organisation to GPHC www.pharmacyregulation.org/
Hello please i need to find out how long you can stay without praticing, because i have been in the Uk for 5 yrs without practicing pharmacy will it affect my application though i practiced for like 5yrs before i came to the Uk and how will they find out i haven't practiced for that long. Thank you.
I think you should be fine. I had around that same amount of years without practicing and my application was fine. You will just need to study hard to refresh your practice. Good luck!
Thank you so much for watching my videos :-). It will have to be the IELTS Academic version which is the one GPHC has accepted for years. You also need to score a minimum of 7 across each aspect (Speaking, Listening, Writing and Reading) and overall 7 minimum.
Hello and thanks for watching. As far as I know the GPHC has put that as a required document so it has to be provided. They have put on information on their website and the application form on what to do if you don't have a birth certificate or issues obtainign it, you have to complete a statutory declaration which is included in the form. I hope that's useful. Good luck.
As for the letter of good standing and the employer letter, what if I'm not registered at all( fresh graduate). Or, in general, will i be able to do OSPAP as a fresh graduate?
Thanks for watching. It all depends on various factors. Are you licensed to work as a pharmacist in the EEA country? If so, I will recommend getting in touch with GPHC and they will provide a clear direction on what you need to do. If you are not licensed to work in the EEA country as a pharmacist, I am afraid you may need to do the OSPAP. To clear any doubts, I strongly recommend getting in touch with the GPHC.
I schooled in Nigeria but moved to Ghana and took their licensing exam to be licensed here, my question is since I didn’t write the licensing exam in Nigeria(I am not registered in Nigeria as a pharmacist but in ghana), Do I still get my letter of good standing from the council in Nigeria since that’s where I schooled
That’s interesting. I believe you will need the letter of good standing from Nigeria’s PCN because that’s where you obtained your pharmacy degree. You can also submit (in addition) the Ghanian one because I believe there’s a section of the form (do double check though) that may ask if you are also licensed as a pharmacist elsewhere. The best way to clarify might be to email the GPHC international applications. Good luck!
Really insightful. Please will a pharmacist who graduated 22yrs ago but have been in construction practice with great experience be accepted by GPHC for Ospap?
Thanks for watching. That's really interesting . I am not sure to be honest. I think the best thing will be to email the GPHC to ask if graduating 22 years ago should be an issue. When you say construction practice, I am assuming that's not a pharmacy related job, right?
Hello and thanks for your questions. I don't think they particularly look at the grade (I mean the GPHC when it comes to approving your application to apply to the universities for OSPAP). As far as you are a registered pharmacist in your country and meet all the other requirements, then that should be fine. I know some universities may require a certain grade so you may want to check the universities to see what their other requirements are.
I’m from Bangladesh and my grades are quite low. Is there any chance to get rejected from gphc because of my low grades?? Eagerly waiting for your reply please!!
Hello and thanks for your message. Sorry for the late reply. I don’t know entirely what the GPHC look at but if you are already qualified as a pharmacist in your country and your university’s degree is comparable to UK standards and you meet other criteria that GPHC ask for, I don’t think you will be rejected. It is worth trying or you can get in touch with GPHC and ask. They do reply to emails. Good luck!!
Hello. I got an email from brighton that I passed the calculation test and my application for the OSPAP will be accessed. Do you have any idea how long it would take. Does passing the calculations test guarantee that one would be given an offer?
Hello... I'm planning to migrate in UK.. I'm register Pharmacist in my home country Phillipines and currently working in united Arab emirates as register Pharmacist as well
I think it is relative and down to each individual. I personally won’t do it because OSPAP is quite intense and having a young baby is even more intense. Maybe wait until baby is a little older but again it is all up to you. I am sure some women can. I have done OSPAP and have a 1 year old but defo not at the same time.
I'm going to marry someone who is a resident of the UK, so I have to do Ielts or not. And what will be the process if I apply after reaching the UK. I am currently studying in PharmD 6th year.
Yes, you have to do IELTS unless your pharmacy degree was in the list of countries exempted on the GPHC website. If unsure, you can email GPHC. Generally, people whose pharmacy degree are from many countries in Asia and Africa will have to take IELTS or OET. It’s still same process after you reach UK, just ensure you have contacted any organisation in your home country who will issue any documents that you may need for your application.
Do you intend to work as a pharmacist? If Yes, you need to do OSPAP. If you don’t want to work as a pharmacist but you just want an M.Sc in clinical pharmacy, then you can apply to the schools directly but you still won’t be able to practice as a UK pharmacist until you pass the OSPAP process.
Hi mam can please tell us what are the materials need to be prepared to become a clinical pharmacist/hospital pharmacist in uk I have a pharm. D degree from india
You need to complete and pass OSPAP, Pre-reg and the final assessment exam so you can become a UK pharmacist. Once you becoome a UK pharmacist, you can apply for a job in a hospital to help you prepare as a clinical pharmacist.
hello , thank you for the helpfull video. what is diffrent between becoming pharmacist via OSPAP and GPhc? i studied pharmacy in italy in english language , would like to become registered pharmacist in UK , which route should i apply? do i need english certificate (ielts), as my course was in english i wonder if i need english language certificate or not? thank you
Hello and thanks for watching. I am glad you enjoyed my videos. OSPAP is the name of the course that is part of the 2 year (and 3 step process) of becoming a UK pharmacist. GPHC is the UK pharmacy regulation body. I am not sure if you need the English exam or not. The best thing will be to contact the GPHC for this as well as questions on how to become a UK pharmacist since you are from a European country. I know in the past, people did not have to do OSPAP if their pharmacy degree was from an EEA country.
Thanks for watching. The easiest way to fill the form will be to follow the instructions on the GPHC website. It is pretty straightforward and if you have any specific questions, feel free to ask.
hello mam will this all be done on student visa and from our home country ? and like what is exactly a ospap and i completed my bpharm so do i need to do mpharm or i can directly go with this pls reply mam
Yes indeed. You have to complete the process with GPHC first before you will be allowed to apply to the universities. You don’t need a student visa to complete the GPHC process but you need one to enroll on the actual OSPAP course. If you have B.Pharm, you can move into OSPAP
Hello and thanks for watching. I believe you still have to complete OSPAP via the process explained in this video. For more information, I will recommend checking out the PSNI website (which is the pharmacist council for Northern Ireland)--> www.psni.org.uk/registration/pharmacist-registration/ . Good luck
Thanks for your questions. As far as I remember, IELTS is valid for only two years so I believe a new IELTS would be required. I will definitely recommend emailing the GPHC (their email address is on their website and they are quick to reply). I hope it works out well for you.
Hi I have a doubt, recently Britain has updated the shortage occupation list and that includes Pharmacist job, does this mean OSPAP not required for overseas pharmacist or Pharmacist who migrates through the shortage occupation list would be considered seperate? If so, what could be the difference between those who have completed OSPAP and the pharmacists enters through shortage occupation list ( point based system)?
Hello and thanks for your message. The inclusion of pharmacists in the shortage occupation list only just makes it easier for employers to employ you once you become a UK Pharmacist. The only way to become a UK Pharmacist if you obtained your pharmacy degree from a Non-EEA country is to complete the OSPAP programme, complete the Pre-reg and pass the GPHC registration exam. Unfortunately, there are no ways around this. You cannot work as a UK Pharmacist without completing the above steps. I hope this is useful.
That was very insightful...again ended up with a doubt..I am a bachelor degree holder in pharmacy. I have been working in Clinical Research data management for several years..would it be possible for me to work in clinical research data management without registering as pharmacist with gphc. Thanks in advance.
@Reshma Suresh Thanks for your response. I am not an expert around Clinica Research Data Management but my guess is that you don't need to be a UK Pharmacist to be in that role (you don't need to register with the GPHC as a pharmacist). However, this all depends on what the role entails and if they specify that they want a UK Pharmacist. The best option will be to find the job and then discuss further with the employers to see what specifications they are after. I hope that's useful and good luck.
Thanks for these insightful videos. I want my husband to start the process, however he is afraid age might be a factor in approving eligibility by GHPC because he is in his 50's. What do you think?
Hello and thanks for watching my videos. I don’t think age is an issue. What the GPHC are looking for is meeting their criteria for OSPAP and if he has had any gaps in his practice or not working as a pharmacist, he can explain and put that in his application. I think some universities don’t like when there is a very long gap but if he has no gap (i.e. he has always worked as a pharmacist), that should not be a problem. Good luck to him.
@@Fashstyleliv thank you so much. After resigning as a manager from a pharmaceutical company he set up a company which includes a community pharmacy and has practiced almost everyday since then. Our hope is revived and we will start in earnest. Daalu.
Hey hi I hope u are well ,,. Dear I completed my pharm D in 2012 since then I don't have any working experience just for 6 months ,, I passed ielts with 7 each but I am a registered pharmacist so if I am eligible? I have 2.8 cgpa
Hello and thanks for your message. I don’t think the gap matters too much but you need to give a good reason in your application to the GPHC as to why you don’t have any work experience. Well done on passing the IELTS. It is up to the GPHC to decide on approval and they would usually provide a favourable response if you meet all the requirements which they have stated on their website which include a statement of comparability of your Pharm D against the UK MPharm, provision of a letter of good standing from your pharmacist council in your home country, etc. Do check on the GPHC website for the entire list of documents required. Good luck.
Hello Pharm. So I graduated with a second class lower from my pharmacy school in Nigeria...about applying for a msc in public health...wanted to know if I’m still eligible to apply for OSPAP since I didn’t graduate with 2:1 or higher
Hello and thanks for your question. Is there any reason why you want to apply for M.Sc in Public Health instead of OSPAP straight even if you have to wait a bit? As far as you have graduated from a pharmacy school and are licensed as a pharmacist in the country where you graduated (or at least eligible to register) and the PCN is willing to give you a letter of good standing, it should be fine. Of course, the GPHC have other requirements which you have to meet which you can find on their website. Good luck.
Hello, just came across your channel, thank you for making such insightful content. I have one question about visa process.. How to get a valid visa from our own country to study OSPAP as it's an indication that you are going to permanently settle in other country? What approach should one take for the Visa interview?
Hello and thanks for watching and your kind comments. I think it should be clear that anyone studying for OSPAP intends to stay in the UK but I get what you mean. The advice I always say is to be truthful and all will be well. I did not have a visa interview in my time so I am not 100% sure of how it works.
Thanks so much for this video. I am still a bit confused. For a pharmacist and mother of 4 kids planning to relocate to Uk. What is my best option; start application for OSPAP and strive hard to pass or apply to study a different msc program in Uk. Use my student visa to come with my dependents?
Hello and thanks for watching. I think it depends on what you want to achieve and your personal circumstances. If you are looking to relocate to the UK and live here and work as a pharmacist, then your best option is the OSPAP. Studying a different M.Sc programme has its advantages but will not avail you the opportunity to become a UK pharmacist as the only way to do that is via OSPAP regardless of the M.Sc you undertake. You can use your student visa to bring your dependants but I am guessing you are okay with the costs. It can be quite expensive and unless you have family in the UK or help to keep an eye on your kids, it can be challenging. If your kids are all above 5 then that may be easier but if any are under 5, you would have to pay for childcare costs and they could be quite steep depending on where you live. Are you coming with your partner/hubby? If so, looking after 4 kids may be manageable. It is not an easy decision to make but best to explore all angles. Good luck!!
Thank you for this video😊 There is a discrepancy in my name. The name on my original certificate and my passport are not exactly the same. Is this going to be an issue and Can I provide an affidavit to correct this issue?
Thanks for watching. GPHC requires that your name should appear the same way (word for word and letter for letter). On the GPHC OSPAP application form which I linked to in the description box, there is a section (section c; page 27&28) that tells you what to do if there's a discrepancy in your name. I think it involves a statutory declaration and involving a solicitor. Hope this helps.
Yes, if a student fails the ospap, they can’t get the psw or do pre-reg. They can repeat the module they failed or resit an exam. In some cases, depending on how badly they failed, they may not have the option of repeating or resitting. It still causes a lot of delay which is why it is very important to prepare well and work hard.
Hi thanks for your videos I have done pharm d I want to apply for uk student visa Could you please guide me which one will be best for me either ospap msc or msc in clinical side I have no financial issue
Hello and thanks for watching. If you need a UK student visa, you need to apply for the M.Sc OSPAP. The PG Dip option is best for those who don’t require a student visa (i.e. people who already live in the UK or have a dependant visa or any other kind of visa). Good luck.
Hi..I have a question for you…for an international student who arrives the UK on student visa, when is the course said to have completed, thereby qualifying to the recently reintroduced Post Study Work Visa.m? is it after the one year, after completing the course and sitting the exam or is it after the year long pre-registration training that follows it? Or in other words, does an international student start their internship or the pre-registration training on the post study work visa or on the student visa which might have been issued as part of the course? Or in other words, is the pre-registration training part of the initial course term time, so that the candidate applies to the Post Study Work visa after the completion of the 1 year’s training and thereby the registration or does the candidate have to apply for the post study visa, so that they can start their internship ?
Hello, as an international student with a student visa, your student visa expires at the end of the actual OSPAP course which is approximately one year (M.Sc version) and you will be eligible for the post study work visa (PSW) once you have completed and passed the OSPAP. You then have a choice of using the PSW (which is usually 2 years) to complete the pre-reg training year and write the final GPHC exam and then you can work for an employer with the 2nd year or you can skip the PSW abd apply for a work visa after the OSPAP which can be up to 1-3 years depending on which visa you apply for. The 2nd option requires different rules and of course for the employer to sponsor you whilst you don't need a sponsor for the PSW. So, No the pre-reg training is not part of the OSPAP course so your student visa only covers the course. The candidate has to apply for PSW or another working visa to enable them commence pre-reg and write the final exams. Hope this makes sense.
@@Fashstyleliv makes sense..thank you very much for responding..I highly appreciate it..hope to seek answers to more questions in the future and I hope you wouldn’t mind that..tc
Hello there, thanks alot for this video. I have just watched all but need to confirm if this programme is age dependent (any idea?) 40years above can still apply?
Hi dear ,im a pharmacist in Pakistan, and want to do ospap , how to get visa process for Uk ? Can i came on VISIT visa to uk to process my registration kindly help me out some easy way to done my registration/ospap process in uk. Regards
Hello, I am afraid you can’t some on a visit visa for the OSPAP. You can come for OSPAP on a student visa, Dependant visa or any other visa (I don’t know all the visas) but not on a visit visa. I hope it works well for you.
heyy so if after completing the pre reg and getting a job, can I like work in an industry or work as a clinical pharmacist? (more into research later on)
You can work in any sector once you complete and pass all the steps to qualify as a UK pharmacist. I believe you can get jobs in pharmaceutical industry without being a UK pharmacist but I don't know much details about it.
Hello, you mentioned writing the IELTS exam in one sitting with at least a score of 7 in all aspect. What if I don't get the required scores in my first sitting? Does it mean it is over? I can't try again? I can't write again to get the required scores for application? Please I need your response. Thank you
Hello and thanks for watching. You can write the IELTS exams as many times it takes for you to get a minimum of 7 across all aspects and an overall minimum score of 7. In one sitting means, you can’t combine two different IELTS results. Hope that’s clearer. Good luck.
Hi, thanks for the videos. I have some doubts. 1. The application should be filled in typing or pen? 2. Do I need a letter from my current employer? 3. If I have BSc. Pharmacy and MSc. Clinical Pharmacy both from outside UK but were recognized by naric. Can I write both in the application or I have to select BSc( the space allocated in the form for education is only one)? Regards
Thanks so much for watching my videos. Please find my responses below 1. You can do either but you will need to sign with a pen (I believe) 2. Yes, you need a letter of reference from your current employer if you are employed at the time of applying for the GPHC Adjudication 3. You should write the actual qualification of pharmacy so in this case, it will be the B.Sc. You can write both as well.
@@Fashstyleliv thanks for replying.I am thinking about applying to ospap and wanted to learn more but I am hesitant about the post ospap period in terms of visa and work. After finishing OSPAP course, how difficult it is to find a training location and to what percentage will the oriel system helps? is there any difference between graduating from university and another in terms of getting job?
@@ajalani5301 Hi and thanks foor your comment. It is really hard to say but I believe most OSPAP students do end up getting a place for their pre-reg and move onto find jobs as UK pharmacist. It may not be in the city you want but it is very possible and many people including myself have crossed this hurdle so you should be fine. I do understand the uncertainties especially with changes to visa but the advantage in the coming years is that they are bringing back a post study work visa which is for two years so you would have ample time to get a job without having the company sponsor your visa (at least during the period of your post study work visa). The Oriel system is mainly for hospital pre-reg training spots and som community and GP practice but there are many community pharmacies that are not on the Oriel system who need pre-regs. I hope this is reassuring.
@@Fashstyleliv thank u for the informative response. I have prepared most of the documents and ready for posting. Would a letter of recommendation from pharmacy incharge would be acceptable as a letter from my employer?
Hello! Thank you so much for the information. I'd like to ask a question pls. I went through the GPhc website and it seems you don't have to be currently registered in your country before you can apply for OSPAP. Pls could you confirm if I'm right? I wanna be certain because I'm currently on provisional registration in Nigeria( I haven't done the 1yr internship yet) and i'm not sure if PCN can provide a letter of good standing if I haven't been fully registered. Do you think they can? If not, can my certificate of provisional registration be accepted by Gphc as a proof that I am not currently registered? Thank you
Hiya, I am glad you enjoyed the video. I looked at the application form again and there is a section (the letter of good standing section; I have linked the form in the description box above) which says if you are not registered or practising yet, the pharmacist council may still provide the letter of good standing provided they confirm you are eligible to register. It may be best to contact PCN; I am sure they have come across similar cases. I hope you are able to sort that out. Good luck.
M.Pharm in the UK is about 4 years or so. I am not sure how long it will take if you already have a B.Pharm from India and want to commence M.Pharm in the UK. If you do complete a UK Mpharm, you don’t need to do OSPAP however I do believe the OSPAP will take a shorter time than Mpharm. After an MPharm, you still have to complete pre-reg and write the final GPHC exam before you are licensed as a UK pharmacist.
Hey, thanks for so much information. I'm a fresh graduate without any work experience in my native country. I want to get enrolled in OSPAPA. Can you kindly guide me about the employer's reference. What should i do about it?
Does OET test acceptable for OSPAP? I found only IELTS but GPhC also accepts OET test which I found in their website but not under OSPAP. Also, Is there any specific format for the letter that I need to get from the my country’s council?
I believe GPHC released a statement on their website stating that they are accepting OET and IELTS for OSPAP and the schools who are offering OSPAP are accepting OET as well but always best to email the schools to make sure they are accepting it. With regards to the letter of good standing, I believe your country's council should have done it before for others so they will be aware of the format. If in doubt, check the GPHC website on OSPAP or the OSPAP application form as it gives a broad idea of what the letter should contain. Good luck!
Hi, it is the 4th link in the description box under “Links” which is a title. If you still can’t find it, then you can google OSPAP Application form and it will come up. Thanks.
Hi mam ! i have recently done my "Pharm-D" degree from Pakistan. Can you please provide me detail about "OSPAP" in PDF or any link where i can have detailed information step by step !
Hello, if you want to get a job as a Pharmacist in the UK then you need to do the OSPAP but if you want to work in the healthcare service without being a pharmacist, then you can complete another course.
Yes you can. You can work in Industry and I believe you don’t need OSPAP to work in Industry but you won’t be working as a pharmacist if that makes sense.
Thank you so much for the video.I'm from India.I would be happy if you clear a doubt. Do i have to re-write the ielts test before GPHC registration after completing OSPAP? Because we have already submitted the ielts results for the OSPAP entry requirements for GPHC??
Hi thanks for watching. As far as I know, you don't need to rewrite the IELTS after completing OSPAP as IELTS is valid for 2 years. I hope that answers your questions.
Libin Joseph Some universities require you to pass a short test before you are given admission for the OSPAP. During the OSPAP (M.Sc), there are examinations and a project. You need to pass both before you can proceed for your Pre-Registration.
Thanks for the question. I will have to do some research but I do know that you have to choose the M.Sc version for the OSPAP which will enable you switch your student visa to either a Tier 2 or a Post Study Work visa (when it becomes available sometime this year or next year). I will recommend checking the Gov.UK website and search for Tier 2 visa requirements or watch some of my videos on the OSPAP playlist e.g FAQ video and Student Visa video for some useful links. I hope this is helpful..
Hello maam I'm registered pharmacist in my country want to become a registered pharmacist in uk can you please tell that iam right or wrong first step gphc application approval for ospap then 2yrs ospap degree then 2nd step pre-registration and 3rd step gphc exam please look forward this doubt
Hello and thank you for your comment. The length of time if everything goes well to become a UK registered pharmacist if everything goes well is 2 years. The first year is for OSPAP and the 2nd year is the pre-registration period and before the end of the 2nd year, you write the final assessment exam. If you pass, it will only take 2 years but if you don’t pass, it can take longer. Hope this makes sense.
Hi, I can imagine the stress of the IELTS especially the writing aspect. I did check on the GPHC website and I believe they can't accept OET. IELTS Academic version is still the choice. Good luck with your exam and hope it works out well for you...
That’s an interesting question. I think it’s best to go through the Application form (it’s linked in the description box) to find out if that’s permissible but best to email the GPHC as they would have the best suggestion.
Hi, I would like to ask because I'm newly licensed pharmacist in my country, can I apply to GPhC for OSPAP even though I don't have any job experience, thank you
Yes, you can still apply for OSPAP without any job experience as far as you are newly licensed in your home country and your pharmacist council in your country can issue you a letter of good standing.
A question, what master degree is the most wanted in uk? Also if i have the master degree in english do i need to take another english test like ielts ?
Hi Ma'am, i am pursuing pharmD from India, currently doing my internship program. i would like to work as a clinical pharmacist in uk. do the procedures are same for the registration of clinical pharamcist (hospital pharmacist) and a dispensing pharmacist?
Yes, the OSPAP course, completing the pre-reg and passing the final registration exam enables you to practice as a UK pharmacist in any sector you wish be it as a clinical pharmacist in the hospital, dispensing pharmacist, etc. Good luck.
@Neeraj Sabu most people refer to pharmacists who work in the hospital as clinical pharmacists so it is correct in the context because they work in a clinical way. There is a course called Clinical Pharmacy which one can apply to do once you are registered as a UK pharmacist and that also makes you a clinical pharmacist. I know it is confusing but I believe the poster meant working as a hospital pharmacist when she said clinical pharmacist hence my response to her. Hope this makes sense.
I know some universities that offer the Clinical Pharmacy M.Sc course that don’t require you to be UK registered pharmacist but you have to be registered in your home country. The thing is completing the course without the OSPAP process won’t still allow you practice as a pharmacist. It’s so confusing sometimes for international students.
Hello, I am afraid so. GPHC will only accept IELTS scores of a minimum of 7 in each aspect and overall. As your writing and listening is below 7, they won’t accept it. Maybe apply for a re-mark or try again. Good luck.
Hello, thanks for watching. I mentioned it in this video here- ua-cam.com/video/rZ8dF3rx2gY/v-deo.html. It ranges from £30k minimum and above when you qualify and depends on several factors.
Very detailed and informative, I didn't even know about this pathway the whole time until recently, many thanks for this!
Thank you for your very kind comment and I am glad you find the videos helpful. I hope all your plans work well!!
Happy to know about this channel you are doing a wonderful job!
Thanks a lot
Really insightful. I can't wait to start this journey as well.
Habiba Mohammed Amin you are very welcome and I hope it all works out in your favour.
@@Fashstyleliv how much time do they take for testing that are we eligible or not?
Any update?
It used to be a month but I hear it takes longer due to the pandemic etc. Probably 2 months or so as far as all your documents are complete.
On?
Hello, your video is of such great help .
can you please guide me what is a GOOD STANDING LETTER and what should be contained in it , thankyou.
Wow. This is so helpful. Thank you so much.
Thank you so very much and I am glad you found the video helpful. x
We want more UA-cam videos pls ❤️ and keep it my girl 💯💞
Awwww I really appreciate this. I miss making videos but I always answer comments. I am working on coming back soon. Thanks once again xx
I'm so so happy I came across your channel. I've been looking for this information for months now. Thank you so much for all the detailed information. You truly are a saviour ☺
You are very welcome and I hope your journey to becoming a UK Phatmacist is a smooth one. Good luck.
I’m so grateful that I came across your channel, it’s really really helpful!! Thank you so much. I have a question here:
The website of GphC says “All courses starting in 2023 and 2024 are already oversubscribed, due to high demand and applications carried over from last year.
Hello, please what do you mean by certified copy.
Pls I want to add GPHC address to my ielt result but I'm not seeing Gphc in the address. What should I do? Thanks for response.
Hello and thanks for watching. I am unsure how to help as it usually comes up in the drop down box. Try Pharmacy or other words within General Pharmaceutical Council. Or maybe refresh the page or contact IELTS.
Please do tell about independent prescribing
Thanks for watching. Will do in due course.
Hi, is it possible to get a job during the OSPAP study that can cater for the 1 year tuition fee?
To be honest, i don’t think so but it is not impossible. On a student visa, you can only work 20 hours per week during term time and the OSPAP year is quite a stressful year to combine both work and study. I am sure people have somehow managed to do it but I have no idea what kind of job. I am sorry I have not been able to help you.
Hi there. Thanks a lot for this insightful video, but I have a lot of questions to ask regarding documentation.
1) what is u’ve left ur home and already in uk will the pcn and ur referees still need to send a letter of good standing
2) how much is the university fee for the one year training program
3) about the solicitor signing on ur photograph how is that possible if ur already in uk or u get a uk solicitor
Thanks as I await ur response
Hello and thanks for watching. See my responses below:
1. Yes, you still need both. I was already living here in the UK for 5 years before I commenced OSPAP.
2. All schools have different costs. You need to check their websites for their current fees. Check University of Brighton, University of Hertfordshire, Aston University Birmingham and University of Sunderland
Very helpful bless you
Thank you so much and I am glad you found it useful.
Hello, very informative video
I wanted to know if doing masters in the UK first in the uk is advisable before applying for the OSPAP and will it work?
@@sijuadejnr907 hello and thanks for watching and your kind comment. I personally don’t think it is necessary to do an M.Sc before OSPAP. If your main aim is to be a UK pharmacist, then go for the OSPAP and when you qualify as a UK pharmacist you can consider doing an M.Sc in something clinical pharmacy related and most work places will be happy to even pay part or all of the post graduate fee esp if you work in hospital. Hope this makes sense.
Please how can I get letter of good standing from pcn
You have to contact the PCM directly to let them know. They are quite familiar with it.
Great video!
Does the result from Naric has validation time?
Thanks. I am not very familiar with NARIC as I did not use it in my own time. Maybe check their website?
I think it can serve as both but I would rather use it as an employment reference and use a university one as an academic reference.
Good luck.
Also as far as you can get a letter of good standing from PCN, then it does not matter if you are not yet registered with them. Hope this makes sense.
I would like to ask if I can get a certificate of Good standing from the pharmaceutical council of Nigeria if my only experience is the one year compulsory internship program?
I think so. You can check with PCN but I think it is possible.
Had to comment when you said you got your pharmacy degree in Nigeria
Awww lovely. Thanks for watching!
Hello please do i need to register with gphc before doing the ielts.
I always advise people to pass the IELTS exam first and always select that your result is sent to the GPHC when registering for the exam.
Please I want to start my pharmacy journey as an undergraduate student in the UK university what course should I fill for when signing up for the university program
And need guide please thank you
Hello and thanks for watching. I am afraid I am not an expert when it comes to the undergrad pharmacy programme in UK (MPharm). With regards to the course to choose in the university, it should be MPharm but that’s about all that I know of the course. Perhaps ask the universities directly for guidance. Good luck
thanks for this Insightful video! I want to ask about the acceptance rate for OSPAP in uk universities if approved by GPHC ?
Good luck.
Hi dear, thank you for this informative video, my question is;
What if you are not able to provide the letter of good standing because you are a fresh graduate? Will GPhC still consider it
Thanks for watching.
Thanks for your comment and I think it is. As long as the overseas student starts everything in good time, it is definitely possible.
Please is it a must to write the IELTS before registering for the GPHC?
Yes it is. They usually will only open a file for you after you have passed the exam. Remember to select that a copy of your IELTS is sent directly to GPHC when you register for the examZ good luck.
Thank you for the info. Is it possible to defer an admission.
Thank you so much
Thank you so much for a very informative video clearing every little detail
I have a question can the letter of good standing and reference letter be sent by email also??
Thank you so much for watching; I am glad you find the video helpful. As far as I know, the letter of good standing is usually posted but I suggest emailing the GPHC to find out if these documents can be emailed. They are usually good at getting back to you with a response. Good luck with your plans!
@@Fashstyleliv okay thank u so much
Also please the documents going to be sent directly to the Gphc is it the original documents
Yes they mainly require original documents and they would return your degree certificate back. You should check their website as there are some documents that you need to send and some that need to be sent directly from the organisation to GPHC
www.pharmacyregulation.org/
Hello please i need to find out how long you can stay without praticing, because i have been in the Uk for 5 yrs without practicing pharmacy will it affect my application though i practiced for like 5yrs before i came to the Uk and how will they find out i haven't practiced for that long. Thank you.
I think you should be fine. I had around that same amount of years without practicing and my application was fine. You will just need to study hard to refresh your practice. Good luck!
Thanks alot for your prompt response. I'm grateful.
Thanks so much for all ur videos!!
Will like to ask, which ielts should I write: ielt academic or ieltvi academic. Thanks for ur response.
Thank you so much for watching my videos :-). It will have to be the IELTS Academic version which is the one GPHC has accepted for years. You also need to score a minimum of 7 across each aspect (Speaking, Listening, Writing and Reading) and overall 7 minimum.
Vivian, were you able to confirm if it should be the academic IELTs or the academic IELTVI?
@@samanthastrydom1744
Hello, its the academic ielt we are to write
hello thank you for the video , one thing i want to clear that is birth certificate important for this? as you said in video?
Hello and thanks for watching. As far as I know the GPHC has put that as a required document so it has to be provided. They have put on information on their website and the application form on what to do if you don't have a birth certificate or issues obtainign it, you have to complete a statutory declaration which is included in the form. I hope that's useful. Good luck.
As for the letter of good standing and the employer letter, what if I'm not registered at all(
fresh graduate). Or, in general, will i be able to do OSPAP as a fresh graduate?
Can we write that I need to look after my family so was unemployed
You can write whatever the true reason for your not having work experience or any gaps within your application
What is Enic statement of compatibility on ospap form?
It helps the GPHC ascertain if your degree of pharmacy in your home country or wherever you qualified is comparable to UK standard.
Very informative thank you but I have a question
How can a non-eea with eea qualifications apply to the gphc.
What if we don't have experience as I was preparing for Ielts exam I was unable to work
You don’t need to have work experience but you need to provide reasons for any gaps you may have in your application.
@@Fashstyleliv typo error *I meant constant practice
Heyy.. Thanks for the very detailed information. It is very helpful. Is the process same for a Pharm D student??
Yes I believe so. As far as you don’t have a UK Pharmacy degree, you would need to do the OSPAP.

The Academic version. GPHC also now accepts OET.
@@Fashstyleliv thanks ma'am
Thank you very much for all this informations
Also does my gpa need to be high or is any degree okay , like does it affect my acceptance rate ??
Good day ma...As regards meeting GPHC standard...Is a B-pharm degree from a Nigerian University good enough?
Yes it is. I had a B.Pharm from Unilag and it was fine + I met other GPHC requirements.
Hello... I'm planning to migrate in UK.. I'm register Pharmacist in my home country Phillipines and currently working in united Arab emirates as register Pharmacist as well
Hello and thanks for reaching out. You can check ou the playlist "OSPAP" on my page and I hope you find the videos useful. Cheers.
Please, I'm already in the UK. Is it possible for me start the programme with a 9 months old baby?
I think it is relative and down to each individual. I personally won’t do it because OSPAP is quite intense and having a young baby is even more intense. Maybe wait until baby is a little older but again it is all up to you. I am sure some women can. I have done OSPAP and have a 1 year old but defo not at the same time.
Alright. Thank you ma
Hi , My self Shahanur Alam and I am from India, l was completed Bachelor of Pharmacy (4year) in 2019. I want to do job in UK.
I hope my videos are useful. A good starting point is planning for OSPAP and getting familiar with the GPHC website. Goodluck
Hi, if I’ve a B.pharm degree what’s the next step I need to do if I want to pursue my career in clinical pharmacy in uk?
Do you intend to work as a pharmacist? If Yes, you need to do OSPAP. If you don’t want to work as a pharmacist but you just want an M.Sc in clinical pharmacy, then you can apply to the schools directly but you still won’t be able to practice as a UK pharmacist until you pass the OSPAP process.
Informative😍
I just pass the degree, I didn't work at anywhere.. Did I need a letter from employer ,,???
If you have no work experience that’s fine. It is not required but you do need references perhaps academic ones.

Hi mam can please tell us what are the materials need to be prepared to become a clinical pharmacist/hospital pharmacist in uk
I have a pharm.
Plz share how to fill ospap form
I'm in northern Ireland it's the same step or there's a difference please helps me to understand what I should do 🤗
Hello and thanks for watching. I believe you still have to complete OSPAP via the process explained in this video. For more information, I will recommend checking out the PSNI website (which is the pharmacist council for Northern Ireland)--> www.psni.org.uk/registration/pharmacist-registration/ . Good luck
Is professional reference the same as experience letter or certificate???
More or less but I think it is usually a letter addressed to the GPHC. If in doubt, you can contact GPHC for clarification.
If some one have 2 year Msc pharmacology in research degree from the Uk Nottingham trent university
Is GPHC still need IELTS?
Thank you so much for your time and patience!!!

Good luck.

@@eachpeach4755 Amen and thank you so much. May Allah bless you too.
I have given Ieltsukvi, and got 7 bands in each will they accept it?
I believe the GPHC requires the Academic version of the IELTS. You may be better off emailing them for clarification.
Good luck.

What would be the most high earning and demanding medical course in uk without mbbs degree
Sorry I have no idea; I focus mainly on Overseas Pharmacists
Good luck!!
Fashstyleliv thank you very much for your response. Very challenging indeed
Thank you for this video😊
There is a discrepancy in my name.
Ospap msc course is 180 credit if students unable to get this 180 credit then student can not get the ( psw)???
Yes, if a student fails the ospap, they can’t get the psw or do pre-reg. They can repeat the module they failed or resit an exam. In some cases, depending on how badly they failed, they may not have the option of repeating or resitting. It still causes a lot of delay which is why it is very important to prepare well and work hard.
Hi thanks for your videos
I have done pharm d
I want to apply for uk student visa
Could you please guide me which one will be best for me either ospap msc or msc in clinical side I have no financial issue

Hi dear ,im a pharmacist in Pakistan, and want to do ospap , how to get visa process for Uk ? Can i came on VISIT visa to uk to process my registration kindly help me out some easy way to done my registration/ospap process in uk.

@@Fashstyleliv thank you so much❤
Hello, you mentioned writing the IELTS exam in one sitting with at least a score of 7 in all aspect.
Please find my responses below
1. You can do either but you will need to sign with a pen (I believe)
2. Yes, you need a letter of reference from your current employer if you are employed at the time of applying for the GPHC Adjudication
Good luck.

If I do b pharm in India and after if I complete m pharm in uk in any University . Will I get licence as pharmacist or else I have to do ospap again

Good luck!

Hi, Is there any exam for University during OSPAP (Msc) or before the pre-registration training?
Libin Joseph Some universities require you to pass a short test before you are given admission for the OSPAP. During the OSPAP (M.Sc), there are examinations and a project. You need to pass both before you can proceed for your Pre-Registration.
@@Fashstyleliv Do you have any idea regarding the exams and project. How about the passing index?

Thanks for the question. I will have to do some research but I do know that you have to choose the M.Sc version for the OSPAP which will enable you switch your student visa to either a Tier 2 or a Post Study Work visa (when it becomes available sometime this year or next year). I will recommend checking the Gov.UK website and search for Tier 2 visa requirements or watch some of my videos on the OSPAP playlist e.g FAQ video and Student Visa video for some useful links.

@Neeraj Sabu that’s such amazing news!! Congratulations and I am sure you will do well.
Hello,
IELTS overall 7

Speaking 7
Writing 6.5

Hello, I am afraid so. GPHC will only accept IELTS scores of a minimum of 7 in each aspect and overall. As your writing and listening is below 7, they won’t accept it. Maybe apply for a re-mark or try again. Good luck.
