love the phone had it for about a week after being a iPhone user for about 2 years I'm happy to say I won't be buying other iPhone after using this moto z force
I'm currently looking to this phone to replace my iPhone 6. I can't say I'm too happy about the lack of a headphone jack, but I can live with that; I'd just have to get a cord that has both a charger and a headphone jack or just get really good bt headphones.
this is the best phone. battery life is unbelievable and it runs super smooth way better than any Samsung. it is just not marketed as much. Give it a try you won't be disappointed. Best phone out there right now hands down..
The 'told to consumers' point is it'll make the phone thinner. Obviously, that isn't the case. The 'hehehe, mr crabs always gets his money' point, to boost sales/make partnerships with headphone companys, to make more revenue. Not just for audio, but think of the headphone/mic combos that use the 3 way 3.5mm jack. Its like the SD card. They'll likely bring it back, once they see their ignorance.
As someone who have used Moto X Force & loved it throughout. I'm excited to buy the Z Force. I know it's 2 years old now, but that makes it cheaper & so it's even better to buy now as far as I'm concerned. I wouldn't buy the Z2 Force because they've downgraded the camera & battery. Hopefully Z3 Force will be better! Thanks for the review. Really helped me finalize my decision to buy the phone! :D
Jon, I love the looks and specs of the phone, but the reported lack of security support has me worried about long term usage. What have you heard on this and do you still recommend?
+Juan Carlos Guzman oops sorry about that! didnt know. in my opinion it's just that the placement of the fingerprint sensor on the front isn't really normal. better if it was at the back or somewhere else. thanks for letting me know!
D3Sniper123 the colenal I have the projector mod and JBL speaker mod. I love the projector and that's the only reason why I'm thinking about keeping this phone. other than that I don't care much for it. I'm used to Samsung and really ready for the note 8 since my N7 failed.
I use wireless Bluetooth headphones now so, for me, the lack of a headphone Jack is not an issue. My main issue it the mods. Are they worth the hype? I know Jon mentioned on Twitter that the heat from the phone was very high. Is this a phone issue or a mod issue? I look forward to seeing the mods video shortly.

John, how does it compare to the S7 edge? The 3.5mm jack does not bother me since I just a bluetooth headset, but both phones seem like top contenders.
I reackon the unlock button should dub as a fingerprint sensor on the side so that you could have stereo speakers on the front and reduce the bezel size!
Nice phone for about a year. Then last month it updated to Oreo which killed its battery life. Prior to the update it lasted a day with average use (though location needed set to battery saver instead of high accuracy). After the update it only lasted 3-5 hours in standby and just over an hour of use. Looking at Lenovo/Moto forums this is a common issue with no solution. Factory resetting did not help and using GSAM battery monitor proved inconclusive. Ended up having to ditch it.
Nice but is the Z Force going to be Verizon locked forever or will is it going to be sold unlocked by next year or so? Looks great but carrier locked is always a bummer.
According to Brandon's review, he didn't care for the camera and battery on the Moto Z. Since the camera isn't a selling point for me and I'm already planning on buying a battery mod, is the Moto Z Force still worth the $100 price difference?
Great review. Moto Z Force is definitely a go. I'd purchase it but, if I could change anything, it'd be the bottom bezel. Motorola should not have added their logo above the fingerprint sensor. That could have been valuable screen real estate put to good use.
I believed in Moto mods at one point, but recently I realized all of the mods could have be able to work through the USB port and just be a case instead of a "mod".
I love the Idea of the phone but is it worth the big price tag & is the JBL speaker Moto Mod really what everyone say. really would like some advice because I have it Pre_ordered but I really like what I see from the renders of the Galaxy Note 7
Thanks for the review. Very good comments. Loved that special effect when the ant drops off the screen and passes over the phone, escaping from the snake. hehehehehe
I think you should have made a big deal about Lenovo saying they won't do any security updates for the moto z. Given lenovo's poor track record with user privacy, I think that is almost a deal breaker.
I think the concern I'm going to run into with not having a headphone jack is charging your phone and listening to music. I live in NYC and use the subways daily. I tend to be away from home all day so I have my battery pack with me. I plug it in and listen to music or watch videos while the phone is getting it's juice. Will I need another adapter now for this to happen? Why would they ruin something or make a problem when there was no problem in the first place? ugh..
That's what I'm saying But you can get a cheap double adapter which connects to your phone and splits into 2 holes a charger hole and a earphone hole Yk what in saying yea Still the phone is shit
I have a question. When yo say it's a Verizon Exclusive, does that mean I can't use any other network on it unless I unlock it? Or can I just swap the sim?
Hey John, I'm a little disappointed that you focused entirely on the carrier exclusive one. I'm dying to know how the base Moto Z does on such a small battery without the battery module and then with one. If you could answer that I'd love you forever!
Ahh, that's fair. To be honest, that would have been my preference too if it wasn't a Verizon exclusive. Were you able to get any idea of how battery performed on the regular Moto Z or did you basically just spend your time with the Force because of the poll?
What I plan on doing first is checking out the new mobile phones and then making my final decision after that but mostly I will probably go for the Motorola moto Z force
I have a Moto z and the only thing that worries be a bit is I can't get a case for it. If I buy a case I can't use the mods. If they made a battery case for it I would really appreciate that because I'd like the protection and extra battery versus just using the battery mod.
I believed in Moto mods at one point, but recently I realized all of the mods could have be able to work through the USB port and just be a case instead of a "mod".
Why does the format and style of the videos here keep changing? I've been watching for probably more than 3 years and it's changed probably twice a year....
I've been running BT for audio for a while. I simply do not have a headset with the audio quality that would allow it to beat out the convenience of BT. With that, it has been over a year since I last used the 3.5mm jack on my phone. However, I'm about 1.5 years out from an upgrade, so hopefully they stick with this concept with the next Moto Z.
+Im Snayl Are you 12? Nice insults. My point stands. Bluetooth audio is average at best. Even the supposed expensive ones only sound average. Wired will always be superior in terms of quality. That alone beats the supposed convince of BT headphones.
Pretty low stamina for a supposed low power device. (Not to mention additional drain from the phone to power it). Another device to charge daily along with smart watches and phones & gotta play the conservation game on long trips. (Which includes buying another power pack as a work-around) Also appreciate the personal attack, real classy.
Honestly a perfect phone. I'll definitely be moving to this from the Moto X Pure, but I SO wish the dimple was still there :(. Could've even put the fingerprint sensor there. Lol still a 10/10 tho.
Watched a couple of reviews of the Moto Z Force and seems like a great phone. I currently have the Note 4 of which I need to upgrade, but OBVIOUSLY NOT to the NOTE 7! Need some thoughts from folks about their choices between Moto Z Force, I Phone 7, another cell phone suggestion, or wait for the Note 7 to come back out? And I have Verizon service. Thanks!
i mean imo the mods aren't all that terrible, for instance the power pack is something the the average person may consider. (and more mods will come of course). However this phone already has a high price, and the mods just add to that. It's going to be an investment for someone to buy this phone, and they'll have to sacrifice the headphone jack too.
+TechnoBuffalo Very promising. Its modularity seems better implemented than LG G5. Too bad it's only on Verizon. Hopefully an unlocked version for other carriers to use is around the corner. Otherwise, it'll just end up with all the good Droid phones stuck on Verizon.
I love this phone! I can't wait... every year I wait to see how Moto will improve this flagship and I'm always blown away... They definitely did not disappoint. I just have to wait for the unlocked version this #TMobile
Moto Z Force (Spoiler alert- Ignorant design choices) It ain't the thinnest phone by any means. I'd almost bet the lumia 1520 is the same thickness, if not slightly thinner. Which is totally fine, except there is ZERO excuse to not have the 3.5mm jack. None. It has been used since the middle 60s in consumer products, likely before even. Why? It works. Its reliable. Having the adapter cable, lemme tell you. Is going to get quite annoying fast.
love the phone had it for about a week after being a iPhone user for about 2 years I'm happy to say I won't be buying other iPhone after using this moto z force
It is cheaper than the Note and runs much smoother
I'm looking to get the Z Force tomorrow! Looks great to me!
3:53 Shoutout to the ANTS!!!
Lol, I was wondering if that was part of the video on that phone or an Ant walking on the Phone...
That was Antman!
ANTony!!
Lol
Ah would buy it if it had the 3.5mm jack. I mean really, what's the point in removing it?
Because USB-C is the way of the future.
+Alluz10 Exactly!
but the lg g5 and htc 10 both have usbc ports and 3.5mm jacks
The 'told to consumers' point is it'll make the phone thinner. Obviously, that isn't the case. The 'hehehe, mr crabs always gets his money' point, to boost sales/make partnerships with headphone companys, to make more revenue. Not just for audio, but think of the headphone/mic combos that use the 3 way 3.5mm jack. Its like the SD card. They'll likely bring it back, once they see their ignorance.
Let's make a 3.5mm headphone jack mod xD
As someone who have used Moto X Force & loved it throughout. I'm excited to buy the Z Force. I know it's 2 years old now, but that makes it cheaper & so it's even better to buy now as far as I'm concerned. I wouldn't buy the Z2 Force because they've downgraded the camera & battery. Hopefully Z3 Force will be better!
Thanks for the review. Really helped me finalize my decision to buy the phone! :D
Just got it today for myself and my son. We love it so far. We both had the Turbo 2. I don't mind the home button.
Can't wait I pre-ordered mine today in white gold I love your reviews.keep up the good work.
Jon, I love the looks and specs of the phone, but the reported lack of security support has me worried about long term usage. What have you heard on this and do you still recommend?
Cool Stuff. Let's wait till it hits stores nationwide. May the Force be with you, TechnoBuffalo 😉
And also with you...
I just hate the home button lol
that's not a home button
Didn't even watched the whole video, dumbass.
yeah it looks ugly to me
+Doggyhair Watch*
Jayy Cole Thx
Does it have USB type-C?
And a comparison between this and the GS7E will be appreciated. really looking to buy a new flagships.
Battery mods are bulky enough to add a 3.5mm jack on it. Wish they could come up with one.
Hey john, loved the review. I was wondering how it stacked compared to the s7 and the s7 edge?
not a big fan of the home button
+Juan Carlos Bayocot me neither.
It's not a Home botton. just finger print sensor.
+Juan Carlos Guzman oops sorry about that! didnt know. in my opinion it's just that the placement of the fingerprint sensor on the front isn't really normal. better if it was at the back or somewhere else. thanks for letting me know!
+Juan Carlos Guzman it should've been a home button flanked with capacitive keys. Much better than damn on screen keys imo
yeah the big bottom with the square doesnt look/fit well with the rest of the looks. other than that it looks very nice
got it last Thursday and I love it, I haven't got any of the mods yet but this phone is awesome
D3Sniper123 the colenal I have the projector mod and JBL speaker mod. I love the projector and that's the only reason why I'm thinking about keeping this phone. other than that I don't care much for it. I'm used to Samsung and really ready for the note 8 since my N7 failed.
Watching this on my droid Maxx 2. Moto returning to the game like they never left.
Hey Jon, Moto Z force or the HTC 10?
I use wireless Bluetooth headphones now so, for me, the lack of a headphone Jack is not an issue.
My main issue it the mods. Are they worth the hype?
I know Jon mentioned on Twitter that the heat from the phone was very high. Is this a phone issue or a mod issue?
I look forward to seeing the mods video shortly.
I'd like to see another review maybe a month or two in the future to see if things change
Planning on it.
I am a regular viewer of your channel from India. You guys make cool videos.Keep it up!!
+siddharth jharia thank you!

why the @
also gaming control mod. I'm not a mobile gamer but for people who are I'm sure they'd like it
how is the camera? like the hardware specs are good. but is the final result good enough when compared to s7 .. ip7 or HTC 10.. or even OnePlus 3
John, how does it compare to the S7 edge? The 3.5mm jack does not bother me since I just a bluetooth headset, but both phones seem like top contenders.
I don't like front panel of the phone though. Great review like always, Jon.
Can you do some drop tests with and without the covers? I'm curious about the durability and how well the covers stay on from a drop...
love the phone but for some reason the text volume is very low when phone is locked? any ideas
would you buy this or the note 7?
I reackon the unlock button should dub as a fingerprint sensor on the side so that you could have stereo speakers on the front and reduce the bezel size!

+Tech Monster planning on it.
+TechnoBuffalo awesome!
do you think it's worth the upgrade from the turbo
Nice but is the Z Force going to be Verizon locked forever or will is it going to be sold unlocked by next year or so? Looks great but carrier locked is always a bummer.
What do you think guys Moto z force or google pixel xl?
According to Brandon's review, he didn't care for the camera and battery on the Moto Z. Since the camera isn't a selling point for me and I'm already planning on buying a battery mod, is the Moto Z Force still worth the $100 price difference?

love the video .. but one question.. were those ants crawling on the phone when u were showing it in landscape?.... might just be me lol
it looks amazing, I have the Droid Turbo and I love my phone. I can't wait for this one either looks pretty cool.
I believed in Moto mods at one point, but recently I realized all of the mods could have be able to work through the USB port and just be a case instead of a "mod".
So you would have to take your Mods off always when you would like to charge them?
Do you know where I can find a comparison of this phone and the Samsung S8 ? I am trying to decide between the two and not sure what to get.
If I'm ever gonna make a tech channel. It's gonna be called TechnoKittyCat
I love the Idea of the phone but is it worth the big price tag & is the JBL speaker Moto Mod really what everyone say. really would like some advice because I have it Pre_ordered but I really like what I see from the renders of the Galaxy Note 7
I love how great phone cameras are now. Most phone cameras are so good that you almost have to look for the differences between 2 phones.
Can you buy more headphone adapters to put one with each pair of headphones you have?
Thanks for the review. Very good comments. Loved that special effect when the ant drops off the screen and passes over the phone, escaping from the snake. hehehehehe
I think you should have made a big deal about Lenovo saying they won't do any security updates for the moto z. Given lenovo's poor track record with user privacy, I think that is almost a deal breaker.
can you do a speedtest between moto z force, one plus 3 and galaxy s7 edge?
I got it a few days ago and I love it.
For the hologram thing they should make like a ps4/Xbox mobile type thing that you can play game for both on your phone with the controllers
I'm thinking about upgrading my note 4 to the moto z force . Would like your feedback
Don't do it. This phone is a piece of crap in less than a year.
does it have the peak notification on the lock screen like the Moto 4g? I've really come love that feature
I think the concern I'm going to run into with not having a headphone jack is charging your phone and listening to music.
I live in NYC and use the subways daily. I tend to be away from home all day so I have my battery pack with me. I plug it in and listen to music or watch videos while the phone is getting it's juice.

Yk what in saying yea
Still the phone is shit
Do you still think it's awesome now that the Google Pixel has been released?
why arent you talking at all about what new functions the modularity brings to the phone and which mods are available?!
+Juliusabcd separate video.
What would happen if the connector on the back of the phone got a bit wet? In some rain or something
I have a question. When yo say it's a Verizon Exclusive, does that mean I can't use any other network on it unless I unlock it? Or can I just swap the sim?
you didn't say how the battery performed :(
circular design for the fingerptint cencor wouldn't be too hard to make
Hey John, I'm a little disappointed that you focused entirely on the carrier exclusive one. I'm dying to know how the base Moto Z does on such a small battery without the battery module and then with one. If you could answer that I'd love you forever!
+Josh Carrero I actually did a Twitter poll and asked which phone people wanted to see.
Ahh, that's fair. To be honest, that would have been my preference too if it wasn't a Verizon exclusive. Were you able to get any idea of how battery performed on the regular Moto Z or did you basically just spend your time with the Force because of the poll?
I spent my time with the Force but Brandon did a full rundown of the Z. Check it out on the site.
+TechnoBuffalo Oh, sweet! I'll check that out when I get home. Thanks!
Just bought this phone, and I'm in love
What I plan on doing first is checking out the new mobile phones and then making my final decision after that but mostly I will probably go for the Motorola moto Z force
I like the video review, but man it sounded like the audio was sped up or you've been drinking too much coffee!
Both
fightnight14 Lol, Yep probably. I usually enjoy his videos but this one not so much
just got my email saying I won this from moto insider super stoked to get this.
Just got the Moto z force off eBay and so far I like the phone and really want to try some of the mods the biggest one is the power bank
Omitting a head jack input port is a big risk
Even thought they gave an adapter to input one
Been better if they just had left it on it already
@technobuffalo off topic I would love to see a review or thoughts on your Incase Action Backpack.
Is it not possible to add a headphone jack on to one of the mods?
So... what's the battery life like
i hate that is it VZW exclusive....should have released it online again and kept the price lower. I would have bought in.
I am really on the fence when it come to this phone, because on one hand it looks amazing but on the other I watched a lot of mixed reviews on it.
The exclusion of the headphone jack kills it for me
and the price?
I have a Moto z and the only thing that worries be a bit is I can't get a case for it.
If I buy a case I can't use the mods.
If they made a battery case for it I would really appreciate that because I'd like the protection and extra battery versus just using the battery mod.
I believed in Moto mods at one point, but recently I realized all of the mods could have be able to work through the USB port and just be a case instead of a "mod".
I have the Moto z force I really like this phone the battery life is good for a full day of use !
Wait a couple more months it'll definitely disappoint do not recommend definitely will not get another one.
So Jon, to sum up. The phone is reeeaaaallllyyy Good!?!
i think that motorola should make a mod to make it more powerful so that it can stack up to the high-end powerful flagship phones
i know its already really fast but some people will like no lag or a mod that they will actually like
Im getting this phone next weekend! its different and odd and thats what I love about it
bring the moto X back the way it was with more modern specs and an AMOLED screen
+TechnoBuffalo ..I have an issue with youtube.. the thumbs up AIN'T BIG ENOUGH for your videos!!!!
Is it stock
Mine shattered (even though it says shatter proof) how do I fix it or where should I get it fixed
what is the price for the moto z force
Why does the format and style of the videos here keep changing? I've been watching for probably more than 3 years and it's changed probably twice a year....
I do like this phone but my camera does not take very good pictures....but love everything else about it
I've been running BT for audio for a while.
Then you must have some pretty terrible headphones if you don't have anything that is better than BT.
having to worry about battery life/charging of another device seems pretty inconvenient
(Which includes buying another power pack as a work-around)
Also appreciate the personal attack, real classy.
+Im Snayl Are you going to have a discussion or are you just going to act like a child and just throw insults out?
Thanks!
it's unlocked you can pretty much put it on any carrier
I've heard the Moto Z Play is a better phone to actually own and live with, is that true ??
Brian Potts the play has lower specs, and a headphone jack... That's it.
Did you say that the phone is unlocked and it works on AT&T?
+PopsGG it does.
+TechnoBuffalo will the Z force work on t T-Mobile?
Moto Z or Galaxy S6?
2017 moto z force 280$ buy or no buy?
GOOO FOR IT!!!
No mention on battery life Jon??
Oh adapter. Gonna get then.
I like the idea of the Mods and how they're implemented but these specific Mods sorta suck. I could explain but hopefully some better ones come out.
there will be. they have devs working on it now
i mean imo the mods aren't all that terrible, for instance the power pack is something the the average person may consider. (and more mods will come of course). However this phone already has a high price, and the mods just add to that. It's going to be an investment for someone to buy this phone, and they'll have to sacrifice the headphone jack too.
Will you review the axon 7?
Loving this phone
+TechnoBuffalo
Very promising. Its modularity seems better implemented than LG G5.
Too bad it's only on Verizon.
Hopefully an unlocked version for other carriers to use is around the corner.
Otherwise, it'll just end up with all the good Droid phones stuck on Verizon.
hey.. can you please slow down the commentary a tiny bit... i like the content and context you bring in .. but i cant understand whats the hurry ;-)
I love this phone! I can't wait... every year I wait to see how Moto will improve this flagship and I'm always blown away... They definitely did not disappoint. I just have to wait for the unlocked version this #TMobile
