rikivip B-roll are shots of the product, people try to make it more interesting from the normal. A-roll if I'm not mistaken is just recording someone talk
Just want to say that Marques was on point about the quality of the materials. I had the moto z2 for almost three years now and i work installing security systems (alarms, cameras, etc) the phone has fallen from stairs, got hit with tools, dropped hundreds of times and the screen is still flawless. The sided are scratched and dented and you can see that it's strong metal. The phone still works great but the battery is starting to fail (turns off at 8% or 15% sometimes). Overall It has been a very good phone!
Just got the force a few days ago as they were having a super deal on it at best buy. and honestly not having a headphone jack can be very situational. I just attached the jack to my headphones and keep it there all the time and got another for my car aux cable so not too bad. The only thing as many have said is that you can't charge and listen at the same time which can be pretty lame. but the phone charges so fast that I have needed to do the same at one time. Plus in my experience so far the battery is much better than what he said. but I also agree that a headphone jack would be very welcome. unless you get a splitter there is no way to do both and it's a shame. besides that, I love the phone.
Awesome review of an awesome phone! I love how you're able to put so much time and thought into all of these reviews. You're production and insightfulness has been on the constant uprise! I'm always looking forward to every video! Keep being such an amazing inspiration!
I don't subscribe often and I REALLY don't subscribe to tech review channels but I gotta click that bell and scribe button.. This has been one of the best review vids I've seen in a LONG time. You're definitely on a road to success my guy.
well if it didn't flex a lil' it would have cracked under the slight amount of force he applied.. higher flexibility = better drop durability, for the most part
***** I would assume the Z Force does do well in a torture test, but that doesn't change that MKBHD said the phone is "flex free" and then proceeded to flex it by a considerable amount.
"no headphone jack" *leaves* #welcome to the future I predict a few years from now they'll remove speakers, then sound, and then the charging port, and finally remove the screen.
I've read something about that actually being true, like just walking into a room and start wireless charging, which sounds pretty cool, but sound is something I'm really worried about since, well, I'm really into headphones and use them almost all the time
+Marques Brownlee nice to see you're back with a proper review mate. Just wondering why you never mention headphone output? I guess you're using Bluetooth headphones but you can always plug in a regular pair for the sake of the review.
Lol coming back to this 8 months later and apple gets roasted constantly for removing it I forget the times where it was a rumor and we begged for it and apple just went with it
I don't know if this is the right place to give this suggestion, but a moto mod that is itself a small mobile robot platform would be wonderful for robotics learning/research. The mod could consist of the robot chassis and extra batteries. The Moto Z can just connect to it and the control program can run on the phone (it can even be transmitted wireless - Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 3G/4G)
+MrWazzup112 Yes, that'll get lost within a matter of seconds :/ Listening to music is nearly all I do in my phone, huge deal.. Just hope people vote with their wallets!
+MrWazzup112 Incredibly so. And when every other phone has one.. It's a no-brainer! I only considered this because it looked nice, Oneplus 3 for me then :D
MKBHD - I typically agree with your reviews. But I have to say, you got this one wrong. For whatever reason. Ive had a Galaxy S7 Edge for about three weeks simply because I needed a new phone. And it wasnt looking like this phone, the moto z was EVER going to be released. But I can say after a few days, that I find the MODS to be a perfect solution to my personal needs and not so much as a gimmick. One of the issues I have with your review, is that the battery life, for me and Im a heavy user, Im using my phone for hot spots and etc for my everyday work on set. And my days consist of 12 and 16 hours a day. The battery life at this time, has been absolutely fantastic. Yesterday I used the phone all day long for about 12 hours straight. Phone calls, texts, emails galore, web surfacing. And I forgot to plug the phone up at the end of the day, and still had 33% when I woke up. Thats without the battery mod. I have the battery mod, and have not used it at this point, because I wanted to see just how long the phone battery would last me and be just as average as you stated. I have yet to find this the case. Battery life had been exceptional. And overall, the phone for me, is exactly what I have been waiting for, and wanting. Keep up the good work, love the reviews. Love the channel.
A what to bring to college video would be pretty cool, I'm an incoming freshman and wanna know some solid tech or something a little innovative that may help with organization or planning, like some clean notebooks you recommend or possibly an ever-note planner, cool app or something dope that doesn't hurt the pockets
It's a total waste of money. It's only 2200 mAh which isn't even a full charge on the slim version. For the money you could have a legit battery bank with quick charge 3.0 and it would be 20k mAh. Plus this thing doesn't even have quick charge capability. It uses turbo boost or some other proprietary quick charging and doesn't work with all quick charge chargers but will work with some as certain reviews have said. The Axon 7 is a much better phone and it costs almost half.
Eric Xu I wouldn't waste 50-70 bucks on a proprietary power brick you cannot use with anything else and the extra battery isn't even a single full charge even on the moto z. it isnt worth it
Who bloody cares? It's the phone we've been asking for ages, and they finally deliver, and you imbeciles complain it's a rip off. It has much better build quality than any shit Lenovo spits out, and much better software. It's hands-down the best phone of this year.
I'm getting the Z Force today and decided to look for reviews. This by far the best review I've seen. This phone is not my choice but Motorola is sending it to me as an upgrade due to a constant charging issue with the Droid Turbo 2. I hope I'm happy with the phone. Any other comments on the Z Force will be greatly appreciated please. Thanks
Hey man, love the review! It really helped me decide that this is the phone I want to buy, and here I am commenting on your video from my Moto Z! Thanks for your help, and I can't wait to see your channel grow bigger and better!
Man I LOVE YOUR STUFF SOOOO MUCH!!!! what a great video, you are such a talented person, I can only repeat, I love what you are doing, super informative and also super great to watch!! :D
No one will read this but this is a 3 year update on the Z Force. It has problems but it has lasted 3 years. The fact that I have not replaced the phone or the screen is all I have to say. I hope I can find another phone this durable when I get a new one.
Apple fans are simply hypocrites, just take a look at Microsoft Lumia's first phone with the Type-C USB port, no-one talked about it but Samsung as well other brands did the same they're all cheering for them.
Nice review of an interesting product. I'm glad you took the optimistic view with it recognizing that it is a first effort, well executed and a new direction. That's a very mature point of view. Excellent.
I disagree with the brightness as I kept my Moto Z Force at 50% and my brother's S7 Edge at 50% isn't as bright (turned off adaptive brightness) but at max brightness then yeah the Samsung panel is brighter. Shattershield does take away some brightness compared to the regular Moto Z though but not by much. Speaking of shattershield, it adds a bit of thickness and weight of the phone compared to GG4 on the Moto Z. The side bezels are also a bit wider considering how the Shattershield is applied but slimmer than that of the Droid Turbo 2. For the cameras Anandtech got different results and a noticeable difference between the two Moto Zs but I did managed to get great night shots with my Moto Z especially by using Professional mode though the regular mode is no slouch but can be hit or miss at times. The battery life on the Force is great though and the main reason why I got it over the regular Z with camera being second but I do love how thin the regular Z is compared to the Force let alone any other phone. I can get 5+ hour screen on time with 24-36 hour run time. Wi-Fi does drain the battery a bit quicker than LTE does for some reason and some places have noted that there's a wi-fi performance bug with the Moto Z which could also affect the battery life. The phone charges up really quickly which is something I like over my HTC One M8 but the power brick is on the large side. The power button is pretty useless IMO if I can wake up and put the phone to sleep by long pressing the fingerprint scanner and they could have lowered the volume buttons some and made them close to each other instead of equidistant. I got the JBL Moto Mod Speaker for free when I bought it from Best Buy (which was $100 for 2yr contract) and I can buy the battery mod from Verizon as I get a discount.
what happened to the cheerios boxes behind Its so encouraging seeing you growing to a big success. you're the first tech guy I ever subed to and I realy like your videos and hope to see you grow even more..!
I have had my moto z Force for around 1⚀months and it still has very good battery life all day know problem! I have two battery mods they come in pretty handy two days with out charging 48 plus hours. The JBL will be my next mod!
GetYouSome-3518 Actlly I'd argue the Moto Z Play is more like the original Moto X: a mid-ranger phone that's easy on the wallet and has the best overall bang for buck, all without feeling like a cheaper smartphone
Varun Kumar Please, dont post BS. The official USB Type C standard allows for an adapter cable to be simply split into a charging cable and a 3.5mm cable, allowing you to both charge your phone and listen to music at the same time through the same port without a bulky hub. Again, since this cable is completely passive, it can be super cheap to obtain.
@Goliath I have a Moto X Pure. It has a headphone jack. My Bluetooth earphones have 5 hours of battery life. So unless I feel like listening to music for longer, I'm good there. It's not the greatest sound, but the DAC in the phone itself isn't that great either. I plug in my Blackweb headset and it's quieter then the Bluetooth headset is. Are there situations where it's better to have a 3.5mm headphone jack? Sure. But for the vast majority of people, Bluetooth works fine. And that's why cellphones are loosing their headphone jacks. Hell, I suspect that you'll see Desktop motherboards and laptops start ditching them eventually.
I'll honesty say that I'm use to prepaid phones like Cricket and MetroPcs. My dad just got this phone for me Tuesday and it's a real luxury for me. I love it.
Watching this 8 years later and so glad I didn’t invest in the Moto Mods and returned this phone to Verizon within 2 days! Looking back, it’s pathetic how so many of these Android phones just got left behind it in the trash pile of technology.
It would be a great if these mobile phone companies actually did some market research and then gave the customers what they want rather than giving us what they think we want. Big battery, 2 front speakers, great camera for example all on one phone please, buttons positioned in better places, no camera bump and no screen that will crack. can't see this happening but there's hope i guess.
It sort of sucks, I agree. But at the pace of tech these days, still rocking wired headphones is quickly becoming a Sony Walkman in an ipod world. Especially since everybody listens to compressed mp3 or aac music that has already lost as much sound quality as Bluetooth could possibly take away. Not like anybody has studio masters in wav format on their phone, or would even be able to tell the difference, as many studies have shown. Most people can't even tell the difference between a 96kbs mp3 vs a 320kbs, which kind of saddens me a little lol.
Hi Marques, I just wanted to throw in my 2 cents about your future review videos. I think you aren't critical enough on the devices you review. They're $700-$800 gadgets that are essential to everyone. A hit or miss camera isn't just something to really roll over when someone will buy this and stick with it for 2-3 years, especially when you can get a better camera for the same price or even less. You cover all the important topics but we gotta be real about this, the Moto Z is a phone no one should really buy because every other phone is vastly superior. I just think you should just be as brutally honest as you can. Other than that, video quality and the shots you take are fantastic. Thanks for the hard work!
Personally I need no reason to buy this, seems like a hella expensive upgrade from 2014 X with even more expensives mods and a tiny battery/no headphone jack
In my opinion, the phone still looks great. Not perfect, but very good none the less. One of the few phones with more or less interesting design. To each his own, I guess.
It's awful. The fingerprint sensor is a square, possibly the worst shape they could've chosen. They stamped a moto logo on the front for no reason, and the chin of the phone is bigger than the top.
"Youre welcome, i'll take 10%." 😂😂😂
THAT WAS TOO DAMN FUNNY!! 😂😂😂
xD
lmao😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂
looks like Apple can't say they revolutionized the world by removing the headphone jack
lol
clearly you don't know apple...
They are waiting to "do it right" and they'll call it iNoJack
+Michael Ma 😂
Apple is a bunch of liars
am i the only one who finds that home button ugly ?
Edit : Not home button , fingerprint sensor
Nope, not too fond of it myself
ur ugly (lenny)
looks cheap
The phone is absolutely beautiful, but yes... That home button design does kind of ruins it a bit.
really awkward but thats just a fingerprint scanner as he said not a home button
I've said it before and I'll say it again, this guy has the best B-roll in the business.
***** all the footage of him not talking.
MKBHD, Ash Taylor, and Hardware Canucks are the best B-Rollers I know
***** Hardware Canucks for sure as well!
what is b roll?

Sebastian Lindon SAME DUDE👍🍸
Lone Wolf The graphic display on it is great. I can watch UA-cam on 1080p60 with this now.
choco animation Yeah. It's amazing! Plus, the camera is great as well.
Sebastian Lindon i got the Z force today. Best phone ever.
mangoKush12 how much did you pay for it?
MKBHD's videos just keep getting better. It's crazy how he can still improve
Man being able to just hear crisp clear audio and beautiful visuals this is why I stay tuned man. keep it up.
I hope removing 3.5mm jack will not become a trend. It is meaningless.
Just got the force a few days ago as they were having a super deal on it at best buy. and honestly not having a headphone jack can be very situational. bilibiliism I'm from the future (2017) there killing off all the headphone jacks, hide them all! Apples coming to get them!
Look, i know this comment is old as fuck, like a year old, but, it is now a trend to remove the headphone jack
How ironic
Guess WHAT
$700!! It better come with 2 - $100 bils
that's true lol
it comes with china spyware
+Im Snayl no you got it for 40 bucks a month.

You seriously make the best most honest reviews. Thanks for being trustworthy
I don't subscribe often and I REALLY don't subscribe to tech review channels but I gotta click that bell and scribe button.. This has been one of the best review vids I've seen in a LONG time. You're definitely on a road to success my guy.
"The chassis is flex free"
*tries to flex it*
*flexes like a whole centimeter*
flex creak free.
More like the flex comes free with the chassis. :P
well if it didn't flex a lil' it would have cracked under the slight amount of force he applied.. higher flexibility = better drop durability, for the most part

but nothing changes
i think Marques found out about UA-cam watch time... no review has ever been this long
OnePlus 3 review
he's had plenty long reviews
he wouldve found out about it the second they announced it
+Cody Hutson it's your boy flooossss back again with another video 😂. Dude is legit tho
the last time I came this early this shitty joke didn't exist
W
By now, subversions of this joke are as old as the joke itself.
The last time I came this early I got divorced
The last time I came this early... I made a chick pregnant
Anyone else automatically like Marques's videos? He puts out nothing but quality content, here's to hitting 4 million before Christmas!
trusted you with my last two purchases and wasn't disappointed yet. you are my personal smartphone counselor
Ok guys one or maybe 2 weeks till the next video
hahahahha
At least the waiting is worthing it
Yeah waiting is worth it, this dude always has top notch quality :D
quality over quantity... so many shitty channels with the same boring video every day..
if you all want quality I recommend Ash Tailor's channel
"no headphone jack"
*leaves*
#welcome to the future
I predict a few years from now they'll remove speakers, then sound, and then the charging port, and finally remove the screen.
Well yes eventually. Just wait a few more years. They already removed the screen with Google Home, and Alexa. Not sure about the sound though.
I've read something about that actually being true, like just walking into a room and start wireless charging, which sounds pretty cool, but sound is something I'm really worried about since, well, I'm really into headphones and use them almost all the time
I dunno. I have a headphone jack on my Moto Z. I hardly ever use it. My cellphone headset is Bluetooth anyway.
And then the entire phone.
Well youre not fully wrong now
Fingerprint scanner looks lame. It should blend with the phone, not stick out like a butt plug
lol
It's the branding on the front that I hate the most. One of the main selling points of the X series for me were the thin, clean bezels.
i know right. it should be at the back of the phone.
they couldn't have done that because of the Moto mods
HTC 10 gets it right.
+Marques Brownlee nice to see you're back with a proper review mate. Just wondering why you never mention headphone output? I guess you're using Bluetooth headphones but you can always plug in a regular pair for the sake of the review.
Love your reviews for phones. Intro is amazing and content is always solid. Keep up the good work!
"They pulled an Apple before Apple pulled an Apple". -MKBHD 2016
Watch Apple actually put a headphone jack on the iPhone 7. That would be the most savage thing I can think of.
You must not think of very savage things ...
+E Gindy savage...
Shaaz Syed and they didn't 😭😭

Great modification by MOTO/Lenovo. Looking forward for upcoming improved version.Extra battery and projector idea was really cool.
Hey Marques, I just saw this video, and you have some of the most in-depth info of any other youtubers, and I really like that!!
I don't know if this is the right place to give this suggestion, but a moto mod that is itself a small mobile robot platform would be wonderful for robotics learning/research. Was considering this brilliant phone until I realised it had no headphone jack..makes it an instant DON'T BUY.
+Seppä Chuck away all my headphones and car auxiliary connection? I think not unfortunately
+mrlilmatt123 u will get an adaptor with it, no big deal.

mrlilmatt123 well having a dedicated port is convenient. Being a music lover myself, i can understand your problem with the phone.
+MrWazzup112 Incredibly so. And when every other phone has one.. It's a no-brainer! I only considered this because it looked nice, Oneplus 3 for me then :D

So true
because all phones are getting to be almost exactly the same
There are 7 features that different phones differ in, the rest is identical.
nothing new under sun
This is a hardly a review, just a feature list.
Lenovo is ruining Motorola. Motorola should of stayed with Google or go independent....
lenovo made the moto x2 and style+moto g2/3 before
+themrg 07 not Moto X 2nd gen... they made Moto X Style/Pure, which was the 3rd gen X
Tell that to Google because they are the one who sold to lenovo.
ooooo
google don't want moto.

But LG has a removable battery. They just weren't as creative with their mods... Let's see what the V20 brings
***** how am I supposed to know?
not really
this uses magnets
good luck having a phone with strong magnets near your wallet or a HDD
notification squad
ayyy
Yay!

That phone has better specs than my computer...
How Marques hasn't been hired by Motorola yet baffles me... honest to God, more informed about consumer needs than anyone who works for them.
People were complaining about de camera bump on the iphone 6 but now it's ok with this GIGANTIC camera.
Motorola removes headphone jack and no one bats an eye, Apple does it and everyone loses their minds.
Ikr?
Britta Perry got this phone today and I was just thinking that!!!!
It's because iPhones sell more and are a global staple for most rather than a smaller company phone
I think it's because it is called a dongle.
Sparks actually apple is more of a U.S. Cell phone more people around the world buy androids
What about the Z Play?
WhteLotus It's like the Moto g instead of the Moto x. These two are better quality.
GetYouSome-3518 Actlly I'd argue the Moto Z Play is more like the original Moto X: a mid-ranger phone that's easy on the wallet and has the best overall bang for buck, all without feeling like a cheaper smartphone
The lack of a headphone jack means I will be getting s7 edge. This was a stupid decision for Motorola.
What if i say it came with a adapter in the box
I have a galaxy s7 edge and I think you should go with the edge
adapters are pure shite cuz you cant use headphone jack and charge simultaneously
Or you know they could've built one in and not had the issue...
Im still in love with my droid turbo. So rugged and it works good as new one and a half years in.
dude hope you see my message your the kind of reviewer from all of the reviewer in the world..thumbs up!!🖒🖒
those pins are great for a dock
yep its only in 360p now
no headphone jack, because head phones are going wireless. You might hate it, but it makes sense.
Gwrightproductions1 doesn't make sense at all, but whatever you believe
@Goliath
I have a Moto X Pure.
Hell, I suspect that you'll see Desktop motherboards and laptops start ditching them eventually.
most of the decent headphones arent wireless
I'll honesty say that I'm use to prepaid phones like Cricket and MetroPcs. My dad just got this phone for me Tuesday and it's a real luxury for me. I love it.
Watching this 8 years later and so glad I didn’t invest in the Moto Mods and returned this phone to Verizon within 2 days! Looking back, it’s pathetic how so many of these Android phones just got left behind it in the trash pile of technology.
Please make this wallpaper avialable in high resolution! :)
It looks dope
do u will do Review on the moto g4?
and the plus?
No he won't, lol
No, he usually review flagships, Nexus, especial editions etc
+Big Mo but he has done the review of moto g2 :P
It would be a great if these mobile phone companies actually did some market research and then gave the customers what they want rather than giving us what they think we want.
Big battery, 2 front speakers, great camera for example all on one phone please, buttons positioned in better places, no camera bump and no screen that will crack. can't see this happening but there's hope i guess.
Your videos are so fucking crispy they make my old plasma look 4k. I'll pass on this phone but wish the nexus this year was modelled after it.
8 years later and I'd still take this over the clunky iPhone
Soon we will be seeing phones, that would have the added functionality of a razor by slimming out..
I'm all for no 3.5mm jack, what I want is for companies to have dual USB C ports, and I want type C headphones to continue towards being a thing.
AlphaZulu I think it should be more of an option, where you pay separately for the audio jack, lest the thickness of the phone allows it.
+AlphaZulu that's stupid not to have no headphones
Type C USB supports audio via the USB bus, so it must be up to the user to stick up with the old school or not.
axon 7 pls
FUck the moto Z. It's made of glass, it's ugly, it's only type C, not water resistant, and the fucking 2600mAh battery? Really?
Go for the Z Force, Axon 7, or even the OP 3
You stay quite Motorola is the God of all smartphones they were the 1st phone company so you can't hate they been in the game since the beginning.
jonathan rosa lol yes i can. Motorola, like any other company, can fuck up SO badly. And they did.
It's not as bad as you think.... There are some flaws but you don't have to hate on it like that..
3500 mAh
I'm sure it's old news by now, but I like that new (to me) intro music
See no reason*
You know that you can edit a comment, right?
why haven't you tested the Motorola moto g4 plus it's a amazing phone for the price
Brian roy I agree! Great phone!
any OnePlus notification squad?
YASSSS
i wish
+Nikhil Kapur really?
sup
Hi 😂
MKB Very Nice don't get why any thumbs down because this review was right on point. I really enjoyed. Thanks for sharing Deb ✌️👍👌
Great video as always Marques. Any chance of a Moto Z Play review? :D
No headphone jack is a deal breaker
5:36 lol disables Verizon bloat
we can see that senseless piece of shit
Ifham Khan oh man we’re edgy today aren’t we
@@YTC1234 sorry i don't know why I typed that
No headphone jack, no deal. Time to get the Oneplus 3t!
Mycatis42 you can buy moto z play
I'm fucking poor. Stop recommending your phones to me you fucking rich boy. I can barely afford mac and cheese.
I heard some background noise. Was that a mistake? Either way, great review! And I liked the beginning
Just ordered mine. Head phone hack is not a problem. All I ever use is b.t. headphones. Those JBL speakers are sweet
This phone from the front is ugly😬,Let us sign a petition to have Motorola's chief designer fired.🙅
In my opinion, the phone still looks great. Not perfect, but very good none the less. One of the few phones with more or less interesting design.
To each his own, I guess.
What? It's great.
+Ivan Rzhanoy nah man, if they just removed that stupid fingerprint sensor that ruins the entire design of the phone it'd be solid
It's awful. The fingerprint sensor is a square, possibly the worst shape they could've chosen. They stamped a moto logo on the front for no reason, and the chin of the phone is bigger than the top.
IKR!!!! look at the home/fingerprint button and moto logo, welcome back 2009 phone designs!
Moto ZZzzzz
man you really killed my excitement about the MOTO Z to the point that I didn't want to complete the review
I like this idea, can't wait to see what they bring in the future.
Thank you for not stuttering, stumbling, tripping over words, thanks for a having a script and reading it clearly
