- Is there a better winter dish than lamb shanks? If there is, I don't know about it....
If you choose to subscribe to our channel and turn the bell notification on (which we'd really appreciate), we'll let you know when our next video has been uploaded so you don't miss it!
Don't forget, you can do all of this in your oven and on the stove top inside if you don't have a smoker! Or if you have a slow cooker, that would be suitable too!
Lamb shanks are a classic winter warmer, they are beautiful, rich and tender when cooked right and in this video i'll show you how!
Also, for reference, our braising liquid for the lamb shanks consisted of:
2 cups of beef stock
1/2 can of stout
1/2 cup of red wine
3x cloves of lightly crushed garlic
2x bay leaves
Salt & pepper to taste
Don't forget, if you don't want the smoke to influence the flavour of the braising liquid, cover your tray with foil, this will also help speed up the cooking process, however the liquid won't reduce down as quick so you may have to reduce down in a saucepan once the lamb shanks are cooked and make your gravy in a saucepan.

Is it possible to do this in a classic weber
Absolutely it is, keep an eye out for my new channel, Aussie smoke bloke, I. The next few weeks
Definitely can.
Great video.
If you wanted to grill on the Bronco Pro would you put the charcoal basket on top of the deflector plate in order to get more direct high heat?
Yep absolutely. That's the way.
yummm! what is 'gravy powder'??
Awesom video. I may do a couple of turkey legs on my drum soon.
Very nice!
Another solid video mate. Never been a fan of lamb shanks but this looks incredible so I'll give it a go. What kind of rest time if any do you recommend?
Thanks mate, to be honest, no need for a rest :)
Any thoughts on a substitute for the beer? Keen to give it a go, but need to keep it gluten free.
Just some more stock or wine.
Would you do this with a leg of lamb or no braise just smoke and wrap ?
Stop it, an absolute winter favourite, keep an eye out for my new channel in the next few weeks, Aussie smoke bloke, thanks brother you’re an inspiration
Thanks so much for the support mate! Let me know when it's up.
If I do these in the Weber am I doing them direct or indirect?
Indirect.
Eid Festival is coming for Muslims so it means i would do lamb shanks 😉
Perfect! 🙏
In your opinion what’s the advantages of a drum smoker v offset smoker
More versatile, easy to use and more efficient.
Today I learned that Gravy Powder exists. Doesn't look available in stores in the States though.
