This video is something fun and different that I didn't have to spend hours doing research for. :) First, I chat about what I've been doing lately. Then I share some "show and tell" souvenir yarn and a finished object. Finally, I talk about some of my favorite summer things, including two knitting-related items and several non-knitting items. Are any of my favorites your favorites? Please leave me a comment with YOUR summer favorites!

I enjoyed the info on using Kool Aid for dying the yarn. This could be a project for the knit group! I have an EC planner, teacher's edition and I love the format and the paper quality. When I first bought one, I wondered how I could justify the price, then my husband said you use it for all your work it holds up to the beating I give it at school, and it archives the year of lesson plans and activities. It's worth it for me. There are many different planners that can work with everyone's price and lifestyle.

Oh, so glad you posted this video for us to enjoy on the 4th, when we all have a little more time to indulge in our hobbies. As far as "summer finds"....I am already planning for knitted Christmas presents and came across a fantastic pattern that uses four strands of fingering weight yarn and gradually changes color. This is perfect for de-stashing, looks really good, and is super fast to make. The pattern is "Snap" by tincanknits. I made several hats in a "Frozen" theme for girls (going from white to several shades of blue). The boys really like hats in the colors of their favorite sports teams. Have a happy 4th :0)

I got teary eyed listening to all the nice things you said about me and Del 😍 I’ve told so many friends about our trip and how I got to know you online and how seamless the transition was from internet friend to real life friend. When we were almost to the lake Del asked me if I was nervous and I said I was a little - we’d never physically talked to each other! You hope your expectations meet reality 😜 But as soon as we got out of the car and you greeted me in the pouring rain with a big bear hug, I knew you were who I thought you were - the sweetest, funniest and most kind woman. I’m so glad you like the shawl - it was such a fun knit 😊 And I’ve been wearing the shawl made of the yarn you dyed for me and getting tons of compliments which gives me an excuse to tell the story of our friendship. What a memory making trip! Loved the rest of the podcast - now I want a headband even though my hair is short! Love you 😘😘😘

Happy 4th of July, another a great detailed video, thank you!
I love the Condren planner and I think I might look into getting one. I have a new position as a personal banker and think it might come in handy.
I got the same Fitbit a few months back and I really like it. I originally got a blue band and have since purchased a metal band to wear for work.
I also have a skein of the Done Roving Yarn in Fall Glory, its a deep tonal red, it's so lovely.
    Thanks again and stay cool.

This is the first time I have had a chance to see your ancillary podcast! Love it! I enjoyed that you got to spend time with friends!
My two favorite things this summer are. ..my recumbent bike and Chips Ahoa Thins! I too injured my knee and find that the recumbent bike it s great way to stay flexible! I watch podcasts and the time just flies! I believe the chips ahoy thins speak for themselves. ..chocolatey and crisp. I also did the advent shawl and had a lot of fun! I also loved the planner and will recommend it to my accountant daughter who will go bonkers for it! Be well !

Hi Gayle -- I've started riding my road bike again and so far it has been ok. I stay on the flat roads. No big hills, at least not yet. I'm hoping riding will strengthen my knee more. I'm going to have to try the Chips Ahoy Thins! 😊

Kristine, I love your shirt! Those colors are fantastic on you. What a lovely gift shawl you got from your friend Kathy. Your Sugarplum shawl is so pretty! I especially love the multicolored yarn and the turquoise yarn, and I do love gray. I love the coral yarn you used for your Citron shawl. Coral and turquoise/aqua are my favorite colors. After you talked about the SQHAIR Bands last time I ordered some. Unfortunately I have a really small head and my hair has thinned as I got lots of health problems, so I'm unable to wear them, they keep falling off my head. I'm going to let my daughter and my granddaughter try them. They both have really thick hair, and my granddaughter's hair is really curly. I'm sad because I really love to wear my glasses on my head as a hairband. Unfortunately I forget where they are and waste time looking for them. Besides, I need them all the time lol. I should use an old pair.
My favorite summer things are knitting and reading on the beach or by the pool, sitting on my balcony at night when it's too hot to go out during the day, and having my grandson spend a week or two with me at the beach. I'm fortunate to have a condo at the beach where I spend as much time as possible all year round. Thank goodness for being able to work remotely! I absolutely love to read, so I spend a great deal of time doing it. I've always listened to books on tape while I'm driving or on the beach knitting. I have a lot of books on cassette and CD, so I need to convert them so I can use my ipod on the beach instead of my old CD player. My car no longer has a cassette deck, so those books haven't been heard for almost 8 years now.
Have a wonderful 4th tomorrow and enjoy the rest of your summer. If you ever find yourself in Maryland, Washington DC or Northern Virginia let me know. I'd love to take you to lunch and do some knitting together.

Thanks for sharing! So far my favorites this summer include: Bio Freeze (a balm that aids is pain relief), Scentsy Go aroma therapy system (does not use wax, wireless power, & rechargeable), and iRobot Roomba 980 (sweeps and vacuums the house on a schedule and uses mapping to be as efficient as it can)

My granddaughter will love those headbands to keep her hair from blowing in her face as she rides her bike across campus to work and her class this summer. Thanks so much for the link. I do have a request for a tutorial on protecting woolens and fabrics from insects or just some advice from you. This afternoon I discovered a silverfish on a new roll of toilet paper being stored under the sink. Now I'm freaking out worrying about where else they might be and wondering what to use to protect my clothes and woolens or should I spray inside my closets. After killing the silverfish, I had second thoughts about having killed the centipede (thousand legger) this morning knowing it probably would have eaten the silverfish but do I really want a house full of insects; NO!!! lol Thanks so much!

Ordered a couple of headbands! Love the summer show and my favorite summer yarn in Knit Picks' Lindy Chain--a linen and cotton chain yarn. I've made 3 sweaters or tops out of it and they all hold their shape and are cool in these Memphis summer days. It is machine washable and shrinks up a bit, then stretches out again as you wear it. This is not a problem for the two garments i made with positive ease, but my favorite, the Whippet Sweater, does need a bit of stretching out when freshly washed and hung to dry. I'm working on a top for my sister and then I have a Thea Colman top in mind after that.

Great episode! I'm eager to try the Nivea sunscreen. I hate conventional sunscreen and tend to avoid it, which is not a good thing to do with my fair skin. I might also try the face cooler lotion...it sounds wonderful. And...I love (!!!) My Fitbit! I have the Alta. I use it to track my exercise/ activity, steps, and sleep quality and quantity. The Alta is the smallest and most lightweight of all the FitBits, so it's easy to wear while sleeping. I also like the "nudge" it gives me to get up from long periods knitting or at the computer. I really enjoy your new formats of your videos. Everything you discuss is even more interesting because of the different focuses (foci?).
Also, I love Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece. A fabulous yarn! And thanks for the discount code for the headbands. I'm going to get some for my daughter.

I enjoyed hearing about everything.. I’m thinking of getting a basic Fitbit... I need that big screen..
The EC planners always look nice, but I’m afraid I could not justify spending fifth bucks on one.,😊. I use a $14OlabAhesd See it Bigger day planner, snd love it.. I’ve been using them for three years now.. Esch is an /8 month planner, that ends in June, or December. I just got a new one.. It has lots of great features, including tabs for each month, a Yep-page month, snd each day has a separate. Place to keep notes.. And.. The cover looks a lot like yours..pretty flowers..My last two were plain black.. The flowers make me happy..
The best feature if my planner is that allw dates and letters are written in s large font, which I need.
Love your videos.. Again, I want to tell you how interesting they always are. Thank you for taking the time from your busy day to make them for us.
PS.. I agree with you the. The spiral rings on your planner.. They are way too big . They should fit the book..

Hi Pearl -- I did talk about Advent calendars in one of my videos last year. I might do another show about them this year, but to be honest it's getting kind of late in the year. I know that sounds crazy, but some Advent calendars sell out in April! I would look on Etsy to see if there are any available.
